I lost any interest in continuing to care about Big Brother last year. BB22 was the worst season in the show's history - it had the soullessness of BB9, the predictability of BB19, and the unlikable cast of BB21 all rolled into one steaming hunk of shit.

I still have a couple friends who give a shit about it but I'm not going to torture myself for them. I'm a good enough friend to give it a try, but if this season doesn't change my mind in a week or two, then nothing will.

Worth noting that I didn't even bother with BBCAN9 because I've become so disillusioned with Big Brother in general.

Unless this one is an absolute knock-out, it'll likely be my last time watching this show.

Really feels like social media and all the Instagram influencers have ruined BB. This will be my last time watching it as well (and only because there's really nothing else to do right now), unless this season knocks it out of the park.

I wonder how much less bad last season would have been with Josh in the mix. Probably depends on who his alternate was, and it most likely wasn't one of the worst-of-the-worst. My gut feeling is Enzo.

My least favorite team (or my nightmare scenario first HoH) loses after dropping their puzzle like, two or three times. Love it. And my favorite team won first HoH. This is a good start, hopefully.

This is an interesting twist, but I would say absolutely don't do it. You either lose and lose your HoH/Safety this week, or you get double immunity, and risk people getting pissed and jealous, and wanting to target you even harder.

Also, I'd imagine your team can't play in HoH next week if they are already safe, which screws you if they are in your alliance.

If I turned down that deal and Julie told me to play it anyway for kicks and giggles, I'd just have chucked the dice all the way across the yard at the start of the 45 seconds and gone over to high five my team.

That's because most of the run time was eaten up by 5 competitions, so we didn't get to see how truly annoying everyone is yet.

Yeah, but last year had a ton of competition stuff and it was still awful. I actually feel somewhat hopeful in a way I haven't felt since BB17.

I haven't watched the feeds yet but just from the first two episodes, "beautiful mess" is what I would describe this season as so far.

Maybe we'll break two curses here - Big Brother being shit, and Season 23s being shit.

That "offer that's too good for someone to refuse" was... very easy to refuse. Like do Grodner and Meehan not know what such an offer is? If he bet the farm, Frenchie had two possible outcomes: Winning his team safety for a second week when he could manipulate the fuck out of people instead and get that anyway OR losing and being the first one evicted because he's the easy target for having won the comp. Turning it down was the correct decision. Cue Grodner's shocked Pikachu face. Did they not think to offer a THIRD week of safety? Then we're talking. Overall, the premiere was... the premiere.

I'm curious if there's going to be a showmance this season since these people know what they're doing. Showmances are bad gameplay because it gives you someone you can trust 100% in the complete public eye, ergo making it way too easy to nominate you both alongside each other. More covert pairs are a smarter tactic - just don't spend so much time with that person that people catch on.

I hate people like Frenchie who label people instantly. I really do. So many people these days judge books by their covers and label them accordingly. It's highly bigoted, and I often get the short end of the stick given my grotesque appearance. I like how Brent just broke down the barriers and was like "I look like this but I'm not all macho." I like Brent accordingly.

(Yes, I'm aware that Frenchie's HOH is Devin levels of bad, and that he's almost certainly the next target.)

I hope so, since most of this cast seems to know what they got themselves into, and we might have the first season in ages to not have any semblance of a showmance.

Based on this first week, though, it's already better than South Pacific (I haven't seen TAR23).

TAR19-24 is widely considered to be that show's Nicaragua through Caramoan (with TAR22 being the equivalent to Philippines), and even among that selection 23 is in the lower half.

Doubtful. Given how TAR32 took two years after filming to air because of how bad it was (not TAR24 bad, but still bad) and how a pandemic shut the whole world down... I don't see how TAR can resurge. COVID might force them to do a domestic route and we all know how well that went over with the Family Edition.

Maybe they'll reboot in a few years once the world is safer again, with a few new rules to prevent TAR32's collusion from recurring. They don't want a predictable product, after all.

Teams have done that occasionally since the early days, so it's probably just a reaction to TAR32. Not totally sure how they're going to go about doing that. "You shared the Roadblock's answer with another team. This is a 30 minute penalty." An alliance can still collectively take the penalty to stack the deck to U-Turn whatever team is beating them because of that penalty. Early on, 30 minutes isn't much, and the weak teams will just get themselves eliminated.

As for Big Brother... I don't think I've seen someone have HOHitis this severe week one. Earliest before was Devin in week 2. Like Devin, Frenchie's been highly effective at turning the entire house against him, probably including his own team. I hope that this clusterfuck continues after Frenchie is gone, unlike BB16 dying a week after Devin's departure (save for the "Amber's gone because of you" episode).

This is the most engaged I've been in Big Brother in quite a while. But both BB19 and BB20 shot out of a cannon the same way, and one of them became bland and predictable after a few weeks and the other screeched to a halt because of a dumb twist, so...

Or, at the very least, they can make sure that no U-Turn is preceded by an answer sharing Roadblock. (This has happened 3 times on the American version: TAR18 leg 9, TAR22 leg 5, and TAR29 leg 6.)
