Good season overall. I'd put it in the upper third of BB seasons.

The worst thing about the season: They didn't have the veto challenge where they hide it in the house and then tear the house apart. I wonder if Brett solved that challenge so hard there was no topping it.

i just checked and it was probably due to covid, not Brett. normally production steps in in between each hiding to make sure people don't discover others' cards in the hiding phase. that would have been too much contact between staff and houseguests.

besides, they had it last season, which was after Brett.

I doubt you'd remember. I only posted regularly here for a couple seasons. I mostly posted on sucks. But there was someone here and there who always doxed me and wouldn't leave me alone, always tried to get me to argue, and kept calling me by my real name in every thread. Looks like they haven't posted about Survivor for 2 years though, but I don't want to bring all that up again, so I'll just remain nobody.

TAR31/32 were filmed and aired sequentially. They both just had delayed broadcasts. 31 was filmed in summer 2018 and aired in spring 2019. 32 was filmed in fall 2018.

I'm torn on them because they are clearly being built up as the villains, and there's no way their idiotic strategy of "eliminate all the weak teams" when they are arguably the weakest of the "stronger" teams is not going to blow up on them spectacularly. If the F3 ends up being something like them, Hung & Chee and DeAngelo & Gary and they get fucking blown away, I could at least appreciate their arc even if I find them annoying.

If I had to guess, I'd say the rest of the boot order is going to go something along the lines of...

8th - Kaylynn & Haley
7th - Eswar & Aparna
6th - Leo & Alana
5th - Maddison & Riley
4th - Michelle & Victoria
F3 - Hung & Chee > DeAngelo & Gary > Will & James

I put that in spoilers because I know the bootlist is out. I swear I haven't gone anywhere near it but I don't want people to feel like they got spoiled if this ends up being accurate/mostly-accurate. It's all edit-reading/logic based on the current state of the race.

Well, it turns out that it was more important to show a repeat of SWAT that was scheduled for 10, than to air the NEW episode of Amazing Race that was already scheduled for 9.

TAR 9 in the books. Making a slight adjustment and dropping season 7 back down below 3 after thinking on it a bit more.

This was kind of a weird season because it was really a two-team race for the majority of it. Other than BJ & Tyler and Eric & Jeremy, most of the cast were background characters. Not that some of them weren't enjoyable, Fran & Barry were great, and I liked Dave & Lori a lot while they were around. But the majority of the narrative revolved around the top 2 teams, which I didn't mind so much but I thought it was fairly compelling. I know people have their issues with BJ & Tyler regarding post-race stuff revolving around All-Stars, but in the context of this season I really liked them. Yes, they total camera mugs and it's absolutely played up so they get screen time, but I still think they're fun. Eric & Jeremy are turbo-tools too, but despite that, there's something fairly compelling about them. The end to the season is probably the most exciting since season 2. And it was interesting to see how much my memory fails me in 14 years. Like I had mentioned, I caught parts of the finale during the original airing, and I remembered the flag task at the end, but I did not remember it taking place in a snowy field in Colorado at all, so when they finally got there I started to question if I did actually see it. Weird.

Also, I think this season gets a lot of props for the route. The past few have been a little underwhelming in that regard, but this one had a lot of variety, didn't stay in one place too long, moved at a nice pace, and visited a lot of really cool locales. Easily the best since season 5.

Whereas I at least had a bit of knowledge on 9 going in despite not seeing it (rough boot order idea), I don't really know anything about 10 aside from the winner. I hear it's bad!

Season 9 is pretty much my definition of a "good" season. I have it just outside of my top 10, it's got a good route, good challenges, some likable teams with fun moments. I do understand why Sucks hates it because BJ & Tyler and Eric & Jeremy are the exact kinds of teams that they would hate but I love BJ & Tyler because they seem like genuinely fun and funny guys rather than the kind of camera whore that a lot of loud M/M teams are. And yeah, I wasn't watching/following the show at the time but apparently they were exceptionally bitter about not getting cast on All-Stars. And Eric & Jeremy are fun villains with a great rise-and-fall story. If they had won I would probably like them significantly less. I do admit that some of their comments toward/about women... did not age well. But softened a bit by the fact that they were portrayed as immature frat boys not meant to be role models in any way shape or form, rather than, like, a couple of sharp-dressed businessmen or something.
