It could just be me, but I feel like the announcement of Bravely Default II makes it harder to justify. As a standalone sequel title that's now using the same numeration as the Final Fantasy series, it's pretty clearly now a distinct series of its own. You could make the argument before with Bravely Second that it's still an extension of the original game that was itself a renaming of a game that started as a Final Fantasy title, but now less so.

This is probably overthinking it though, lol.

Alternatively people are just annoyed by Fbike and burke and it's (subconsciously?) causing more anti-BD sentiment.

ArkOfTurus, probably the primary backer besides me and Delita actually is his favorite final fantasy character. I felt a little bad after last year's run being cut short by greedy people trying to snipe Lightning down, so yeah. A way to make it back.

Evillordexdeath, just because I appreciate his efforts to the cause and he was even willing to sacrifice himself to the hard boots, RIP.

FFDragon, thanks for coming right near the end, your help got us to the point where we were able to survive. Hope your arm feels better.

My trading partners over the contest: Shaduln, Luis_Sera, th3l3fty, GMUN, Chris, I think Suprak one round? Maybe some randoms towards hour 3 that I can't remember. Just common courtesy trading's tough.

Tennisboy and Drakeryn for taking some of the giga thank yous, bubu for taking the last one, greengravy294 for throwing that one NR at like Day 53 so that we don't have to see Eiko in the finals instead.

1. Ban Bravely, and remove them from next year's contest - nomming in 28 characters instead of 25.
2. Standardize, except Dark Nation because practically no one knows it as Darkstar. (The other characters are recognizable by both names; e.g. Celes Chere/Celes Chre.)
3. Don't accept "Dunkmaster" saves next context. Require, at the very least, a "Cid" somewhere.

1. Remove Bravely Default. It is not a Final Fantasy game. The notion of it being included was mostly based on people searching for "new and exciting" things to put into the contest I think. It being listed on the FF wikia (a fan curated website) was ridiculous in making it eligible. If you check a more well-known fan-curated website with arguably a more objective approach (Wikipedia), you'll notice Bravely Default is not listed under "spin-offs" on the "List of Final Fantasy video games" page. It should be banned from future use and the characters in should be removed. I'd also argue that any stats collected by the characters should be stricken from the books as well. I think nominations like these have been realized as a mistake and we shouldn't have to acknowledge it, imo.

As for what to do with the extra 3 spots next year, I think the most simple answer would be to just have 28 spots instead of 25. No need to change the soft/hard boots that happened this year. It may please some people, but really, it isn't the most fair thing to do I think.

2. Use current/standard for all. No special treatment.

Definitely a well-deserved and long overdue winner, and the best FF character was the runner-up, so no complaints on my end.

Other suggestions:

We need more variance on start times. I realize it may make some people upset or someone might say "this contest takes too much of my time already", but really, did no one else find it really annoying every round with a short last hour was decided by the same 3-4 people? Test the theory of them not using voting scripts by widening the start times. Early morning, late night, etc. Make it so people can't, in theory, sit on the board refreshing and get in within 7 seconds, prior to the Discord ping, every time. Yes, anyone on Discord will still have the advantage but that sort of advantage predates Discord anyway. For years I've had people sending me text messages for round start times. All that is fine and you can't police it, but it was never something that allowed the literal same people to always be first. Even the Discord ping wouldn't do that as it goes out to a lot of people, and not all of them are going to respond in the same order every time. This year was, in my opinion, as bad as the late raytan contests when amy knew all the start times and used her alts to vote early as well. It really isn't fun to watch 4 people decide the fate of every round that's close. I'm sure they loved it but for me, it got very tiresome to watch people beat the Discord ping and post within 10 seconds for rounds on end. The only way to test the theory they aren't just using a script to vote is to expand the round times like in the days of raytan/FFD. We need rounds after midnight and rounds before noon.

I mean if people bring it up, sure. I don't think they should be in either (but they aren't in currently so it's irrelevant at the moment). They are at least called "Final Fantasy" in the west though, for what it's worth. There's at least an argument to be made; there is no argument for Bravely.

I saw and was part of the last few years getting Barret, Tifa, Vincent, Aeris and even Cissnei as far as they can ever reasonably get, maybe Thundergod Cid going far would be fun.

Id like to get Seph, RM and Ramza Titles, but I dont even know if those are reasonable wants.

Squall was always the last real legit one that I thought deserved to win that actually could win.

Frankly, I'd say KH should be in even if we ban BD
