The idea that there's a "set of rules" for including a smash character (not based of a trophy, nintendo only, popular, from a series sakurai likes) is highlighted by the fact that smash gave us a FE character (many people considered Corrin to be the unnecessary rep that "got it over with") and at the end of a string of third party characters adds to the futility of trying to identify a pattern or rule in who makes it in smash.

There's nothing stopping them from making three of the next fighters pass the sword and shield starters. So hoping to get a pokemon to "get it over with" is silly because there IS no "get it over with" in the smash picks.

Also I feel like my statement was pretty clear and maybe a little more work on your end is needed when reading snarky board 8 posts.

Prediction-
All three Galar starters final evolution are coming as seperates fighters but only take one spot of the Fighters Pass
Then Sakurai says something like "this is only time we are going to do that" or something but it would be nice anyway

obviously they can just add some more old Zelda music, but you do have a point here... if they add a BotW Zelda character theres no stage or music that would come along with it that couldnt have just as easily been in the base game.

I had been thinking BotW Zelda was a likely candidate, but now im thinking she would have been in the game from the start if they wanted to include her (or anyone else from Zelda).

so im jumping on the its Pokmon time bandwagon. Not a starter. Maybe Urshifu, maybe something weird like Toxtricity (only because thats what I want in my heart). Worst case its Melmetal.

There are very few even slightly reasonable characters left that could get me crazy hyped, but its also pretty unlikely that the character will be something I straight up dislike.

Ill probably only be disappointed if its a particularly bad Pokemon choice, or a Xenoblade character, or we finally really get Steve.

There's the fact hes already been rumored for over a year now

And nintendo clearly has a great relationship with Koei-Tecmo currently if they're letting them make a canonical prequel to breath of the wild

Nintendo really screwed the expectations up themselves with the first fighter's pass, starting with Joker and Reggie saying it would be characters you 'wouldn't expect' to find in Smash and then a string of four third party characters, you can't really blame people for being disappointed that they then reverted back to less interesting first party choices.

Agreed they shouldn't have announced this a day in advance, people will be furious that it's not Dante/Geno/Isaac/Rex/Steve/Goku/Keanu Reeves/whoever. I'll second the Urbosa/Impa/Zelda guesses, but lol if it's some Pikmin rep or something. As far as third party ones go I think Ori would be nice and viable, but it wouldn't get people hyped so probs won't happen.
