For anyone wanting to use the bow better, if you can score point blank shot with the special, it deals more damage than any other weapon in the game by a mile.

Yeah I dont really like the bow yet either. I only did one clear with the sword, where I got an upgrade that turned the special into a dash attack. I went almost the whole run without ever walking manually lol

Have most weapons at heat ~3. Some of these punishment pacts are broken! Unlocking the hidden aspects or otherwise getting titan fuel for my weapons so I can do more damage so I can up the difficulty to negate the runs back to baseline!!!

Have the game mostly down now, I think. Had a 7 game win streak :D

Poseidon's sword with the exit wounds boon is beautifully broken. Not a fan of Hera's Bow or Beowulf shield, tbh. Guan Yu spear has a lot of potential and seems like the best spear aspect.

I'm best with spear or bow. Sword, shield, and fist are mid tier. Dislike the railgun the most; I hate ammo capacity so much.

Also my favorite rifle upgrade is the one that changes your ammo to a three shot burst. Feels so much better

Indeed. The spear throw is one-way only, and its charge attack is basically a blade rift that heals you instead of a legit spin attack. The aspect that causes you to warp to your thrown spear is the risky one, for me.

And yeah, hammer draws result in some vastly different runs making me shift gears about 2 minutes into a run, lol.

it's very good if you get that hammer upgrade that lets you charge your attack quicker. if not then it's pretty risky because of how slow it is x(

I would advice you to unlock them all at some point. You'll get more than enough nectar.
If you have a build in mind, use the gods keepsakes to try and force it. Otherwise, I'm leveling all of them to lvl 3 right now.

How many areas are there? I feel like the two times I've made it to Elysium so far I have like...half that many boons/perks. >.> I don't know if I'm just missing out, having bad luck with boons, or what...but I constantly feel severely underpowered as soon as I get out of Tartarus.

There are four.

Frogles is nearly maxed out, so don't use that as a reference for where you "should" be.

Four in total. The fourth is a slightly different format and has a charon shop with 3-5 boons you can purchase.

Keep doing what you can! Sometimes it's just a matter of having more darkness + keys to unlock mirror perks, which will cascade into more survability/healing/etc. More max hp, double dash, more lives -- these are all great!

Like, the perk that gives you healing on darkness pickup makes your endgame life soooo much easier. Between the boss dropping darkness and the fountain, you're healed up to max inbetween each area. Same as if you run into a darkness trove, or even just buy darkness in a Charon well.

One of the very late mirror perks will cause less keys/darkness/jewels to spawn in favor of more gods/gold, which favors completing various runs more than "building up" your base.

I love this one, and the fact that one of the contractor upgrades makes darkness rooms also give you +5 max health. It's very small, but a nice cherry on top of the healing from the mirror upgrade.

Also I feel like the cast is just so useless. I got the mirror upgrade for an extra cast and one rank in the increased damage when embedded in an enemy, but it still feels like its not even worth using in the slightest. Really disappointing that I spent 5 keys (was a lot for me at the time lol) just to get those two mirror upgrades unlocked. I hope the next few are worth the 10 keys required.

I don't really use the cast

It absolutely can be useful, but I think I'll experiment more once I actually beat the game once lol

I too was against Cast earlier, but it grew on me. Cast is slower, higher damage, and projectile for just about everything, but limited. Like any other move in the game, it can be made much better through the right application of boons, or you could have a run where you just about ignore it altogether.

Much like all your other abbilities, the base cast is pretty bad. You need boons to make it work.
Still, more damage to enemies who have it in them is always good.

Ive started with the butterfly keepsake in almost all my clears. Its easy to get it to 20-25% damage before you finish the 2nd area. I keep it for the whole run unless Im down to only 1 death defy left going into area 4, then I switch to the lucky tooth

Ive only had a few runs where the cast was really useful, although I did have 1 clear today with boons that made enemies take 100 damage when the stone dropped from them, and made the stones instantly return to me instead of me having to collect them. I used artemiss seeking shot and just ran around spamming right click on everything

I toggle both of those to the alternate versions, lol. The first gives you 1 crystal always, but it regenerates because playing fetch with those things is just cumbersome. The second will cause embedded enemies to move slower and deal less damage.

Once I'm going for more speed-centric stuff I might toggle back to the increased damage option instead, but outside of Poseidon sword aspect I don't ever see myself preferring having 3 cast crystals vs 1 with regen

I managed to beat the game in like 16 minutes with that, it was by FAR my fastest clear time.

so this is a run that happened



i had 66% dodge chance. if that wasn't enough i had god gauge starting at 50% each encounter and athena's call lasting around 18 seconds with full gauge. i'm pretty sure 100% dodge chance would have been possible had i gotten that hermes call buff that gives you 30+ dodge. i also missed a the speed clear on a few chambers so it could have been in the 70s.

My shield throw absolutely tore through enemies with this, most fun run I've had yet. Wish I got a chance to fight Charon with this build but the item to trigger the fight hasn't appeared ever since he wrecked my shit the first time lol

So you've only had one chance to fight him? That sucks. I blew through three Deaths to beat him my first encounter, and then lost the two rematches. I think I've seen the item one other time but chickened out. Also, Aspect of Zeus is tons of fun but I can't decide if I like that or Chaos more.

Well the issue is that you'll be a little more reliant on Hermes or Chaos to have more than one charge at a time. And some cast builds (like with the bow) benefit greatly from stacking several casts at once.

Just beat the minotaur guy and other dude last night. I had some ridoculous build with that assault rifle. Basically turned its special into a huge ass nuke.

Died in the next area though cause the mobs have like 1 million hp. My nukes only did like 400-600

The duo boss isnt that hard imo when you focus on killing the minotaur then the dude. Its been my strat once I tried it. Just dance around a pillar with the minotaur (depending on build), after that its cakewalk.

I've been trying to get a Poseidon sword run work for a while, but I can never get the Artemis boon that makes your casts do damage when they get dislodged.

If you have the boon I was talking about in my previous post, it might be a wortwhile get. Otherwise I don't bother with it either. In any case, @Alpha218 didn't have that boon, the one he had makes his casts go to him automatically as soon as they get dislodged.

I had both of those boons

Casting can be very strong and idk why this thread disses on it so much

It basically lets you play the final fight a lot safer

I feel like the strongests casts are the ones that don't get stucked in enemies. Ares's with the right boons is insane, and Dionysus with Zeus's dual boon is also very strong. There's even a boon that makes your casts shoot thunder at enemies when they're in the field that carried me in my earlier attempts.

Also, casts are the best button in the game; I also think it's really strange to see so many people sleeping on them. That legendary boon that makes them instantly pop out sounds insane. If you had a Poseidon boon on your cast, you'd basically be untouchable.
