Heyo. Got to the fourth area last night. Shield build was doing me pretty good combining Poseidon attack with knockback and bonus wall slam damage.

Oh I also got the Daed Hammer upgrade that turns your Bull Rush into a projectile, or essentially a Bull Rush without the actual rushing, which is REALLY good at slamming enemies into walls.

Only way I survived the third boss fight, really. Have the shield up to block and release to spit. And it pierces!

I think Asterius might have reduced hp if you fought him as the mini boss but Im not sure.

Also Ive won 4 times and Thanatos still has not appeared...

That's crazy that he hasn't appeared for you. I think I have 23/24 encounters, 7 wins, and have seen him plenty of times.

Yeah sucks because he basically locks a bunch of prophecies until you meet him and build relationship (meet all Chthonic gods, use all keepsakes at least once, theres probably some for companions too, and he gives one)

Maybe you're not talking to/giving nectar to all the characters? Like maybe there's a trigger lying around somewhere that you're missing. Thanatos is related to Hypnos, are you talking to him every time?

I talk to everyone who has conversations ready, yes. I also know that he has a 10% chance of being an Elysium encounter after the 3rd in the area, the first time you meet him. So its not like I can just reset and try to find him in Tartarus. Im invested in runs at the point hes supposed to show up.

Damn then you're just incredibly unlucky I guess. Or you're really good and haven't done a lot of runs outside those 4 you finished.

Man it to the third area last night. Also came across Artemis for the first time...she seems pretty legit as far as boons go. Theseus and the minotaur were exceptionally tough too...I was barely putting a dent in their health pools it felt like. (._.)

Also...Ive gotten a few keepsakes from gods now. They seem nice on paper if it can influence which boon you start each run with, but then it also seems kinda weak if it does nothing beyond guarantee who you get your next immediate boon from. >_>

Hmm, what do you guys think...should I put points into dark regeneration now or save up for a second death defiance. I'm at ~150 darkness right now so I have a ways to go but that extra life is might enticing...but so is healing on darkness pickups. A paltry 3 health per room feels ass awful bad poop butts. (._.)

You get alternate talents you can swap to eventually. The alternate to heal on room transition heals you whenever you pick up darkness. That ones for sure better. Go for death defy.

Keep in mind though there is a prophecy that wants you to clear the game with every mirror talent, though.

Bow is also growing on me...as is the shield. I wish the special had more oomph, but I can't lie....feeling like a demigod version of Captain America is awesome as heeeeeeeck.

EDIT: shield is definitely my favorite now, it just feels so...good to use.

This rat guy actually has a boss bar, but yeah, not a fan of that thing either, especially when I dont have deflect.

that's my favorite weapon lol. Good range with the standard attack plus a good aoe with the spin attack. And I like the form that lets you warp to it when you throw it, because its fun lol

Tiny Vermin ended one of my runs :(

So far its a toss up between shield and bow for me, which I'm surprised to say for the latter. I just unlocked the gauntlets too but haven't tried them yet.

Yeah I have 43 attempted escapes and Thanatos hasn't shown up.

Also some of the Dire enemies show up in their own dedicated chambers so I consider them minibosses.

my best run so far was the spear. had the area 4 boss at like 15% phase 2. but I had deflect on attack and dash and a bunch of extra backstab and special damage. The Ares call was disappointing though, not enough damage.

My Attack was useless, though. I took the Spread Fire upgrade. Mistake. It's garbage. I thought I'd get a nasty shotgun. I got a bunny farter that needs earlier reloading. I was relying on shells. At least I got the tri-shell upgrade.

Shotgun is good tho. What makes the Rail absolutely broken but relies on luck to get is having Poseidon attacks, Zeus whatever and getting the duo boon. If you get Jolted and Rupture boons, each attack applies 2 debuffs, so your damage is boosted by 20-40% if you have that augment.

I could hit up to 700+ damage on a burst if all 5 rockets hit

This time it was Doom stacking on the shield (which keeps flying around and you can still attack) that won me the fight. Fun stuff. I love how crazy builds can turn out.

I bought it and holy shit the shield+some Aphrodite boons+some Thor boons was OP af. I got to the 4th layer on my 4th playthrough. This game is great.

Fucking killer on the thumb though. Playing on Switch and constantly dodging and pressing special had me dying lol

After you beat the game, you'll see what rewards you have gotten(Titan's Blood/Diamond/etc.) from each boss per heat level with whatever weapon you have equipped at the Pact of Punishment screen.

Unlock all the weapons to find the one you like best and then make use of the mirror to get the bonuses youd prefer. (Youre not locked in once you put darkness into them)
