I think most people are familiar with Midas' touch, turning everything to gold right?

Well, Phil's touch turns everything to shit.

Has made a living out of his hobby, but hates it so much turning it into shit

The vest thing started out lighthearted, a way to make extra monry, but it turned to shit.

Phil has had good friends in the past, they worked on a passion project, P7, but it all turned to shit.

Phil was in a relationship with someone who actually had feelings for him, but it turned to shit.

You get my point.

And to reiterate my point, Phil gave a speech on the vest streak and how it is toxic. He stopped playing to tell people they were going to get banned if they talked about the vest streak too much. Tells people to givd him money as soon as possible, at the start of the stream, so the stream doesn't get derailed near the end.

Phil is and always has been, his own worst enemy.

I was just thinking about an aspect of this. How many bad things about Phil do we learn from second- or third-hand sources? With a lot of content creators, we'll hear negative stories from people who collaborated with them in the past, former friends, ex-girlfriends, etc. With Phil, almost every story that makes him look terrible has come directly from his own mouth. All the examples of him being racist or homophobic or generally toxic are not revealed to us by someone who used to hang around with him and wants to get even by revealing private conversations. No, all of that is right there in his own videos. Detractors have helped spread this stuff to a larger audience, but the one who ultimately makes him look the worst is Phil himself.

Howard is doing well for himself. Rambo, especially, is doing well for himself. And yet, DSP is as miserable as they come, despite making money that any middle class worker bee would be jealous of. AND YET, no one is jealous of him. To me, that speaks volumes.

It would be almost ironic. But even though getting thrown under the bus (repeatedly) and then severing all ties has been the best thing.Phil could have done for them.

Even if they are making less money than Phil, it is irrelevant, because all of them are living happy and fulfilling lives. Yet Phil is in EXACTLY the same spot as he was then, and even when he started playing videogames for a living.

And $50 gets you a personalized video where he'll answer a question. It's garbage. The first three perks are basically nothing, and the $50 perk might be interesting once... if you didn't have to pay $50 for it. His supporters have shown they are willing to give him money freely, yet he's too lazy to think up any reasons to make them want to.

He's put himself in a position where no one believes anything he says, although he could help his case by not exaggerating his symptoms. I had several bad ear infections when I was a kid, and although they were painful and annoying, I would never have described them as excruciating.

If he takes a day off, he's going to get mocked either way. But I think he would get mocked less if he was honest about it. He would still come across as hypocritical for missing an opportunity to stream so that he can go out and spend money he claims he doesn't have, but that is more dignified than whining about excruciating ear pain (which sounds like a child trying to convince his parents he's too sick to go to school).

The whole story about his headset causing ear infections is so fucking hilarious, I just can't.

Millions, and I do mean MILLIONS of people work in customer support, and they wear headsets fucking full time. Imagine the financial turmoil that would ensue when all those employees would have regular ear infections.

Hell, I've worked customer support, not ONCE have I had an ear infection. It is more likely that he is supceptible to infections due to the utter poor and complete lack of hygene he has. He doesn't regularly shower, his hair is a greasy mess, he lives an extremely sedentary lifestyle, doesn't get any exercise (and no, getting fucking groceries is not exercise) eats really poorly (frozen meals, fast food and the like) and takes poor care of his body.

Also, why is he only skipping his first stream? Does he know his ear is going to be fine by the time the second stream starts? He knows fully well that if he says he's going to take a vacation or goes out that backlash will follow like it has in the past, since it breaks the lie that he doesn't have any money.

And I always have believed that he uses excuse for everything, including taking days off. He always said not to have money, and that he can't take days off because then he would be worse off financially. So if he actually WANTS to take a day off, he has to lie about that too, in order to maintain the first lie.

He has dug himself a hole. Even if he is telling the truth, he has proven himself to be so unreliable that it doesn't matter anymore. If he would just say that he doesn't feel like streaming, no one would fucking care. It would be undeniably honest, wouldn't feel like a bullshit excuse and no one would look into it.

That's the problem with telling lies, since you need to tell another to back up the first lie and things just spiral out of control. You never know when a habitual liar is telling the truth and most of the things they say are built on a bed of lies.

One of the streamers I mod for streams six days a week, for eight hours a day (he only gets like 100-150 viewers per day). Sometimes he will mention that he needs an extra day off here and there because of lack of sleep and probably a bit of burnout. However, he doesn't spend an hour before playing talking bullshit and begging for money, so you get a lot of gameplay. If only his fans would watch an actual good streamer, they would abandon DSP in a heartbeat and he would probably fade into obscurity.

Sure, people will of course care when he takes a day off. But my point is, if he does it the way he does it now, people will speculate and blame and point out obvious gaps in Phil's story.

But if he literally said "Sorry guys, don't feel like streaming today", people will wonder, but won't question Phil so much because there is no exaggarated story to pick apart.

But as always, once more, Phil is his biggest enemy. He keeps saying he can't afford a day off, he keeps saying he doesn't have money. He has build lies upon lies upon lies. And he has to dismantle EVERYTHING. And even then, I am sure his actual fans would still give him money. And his detractors would also still stick around.

Sure a lot of people will have their "I knew it moment", but in the end, Phil is Phil. He will continue to wrangle his viewers for money, he will rage at games, he will make excuses for fucking up and will generally be miserable. But at least there will be a load off his back, and as we have seen in the past, his fans will keep giving him money, regardless of the bullshit Phil sells them (the cat reveal, the wedding reveal, using money to fly Kat over, etc). And detractors will continue to point and laugh.

His ego prevents him from simply admitting he's wrong, and that does cause him stress since he has to lie about most of his life. I guarantee that if he did a "confession" stream where he came out and admitted to all the stupid shit he's lied about over the years, the reaction from his fans would be overwhelmingly positive. He'd probably make a couple thousand dollars from sympathetic whales, he'd feel a hell of a lot better about his life, and he would rob the detractors of their ability to make fun of him.

Last night I decided to torture myself and watch his review of the last of us 2. Here are some takeaways

At least he's fair and admits the gameplay is great

Half of his story complaints come from whining about romance and sex scenes that are there to enhance characterization but he's too busy acting like a five-year-old thinking girls have cooties to understand how any of it relates to the characters

He's so stupid he spends like 10 minutes talking about how the game generated strong reactions from him making him feel like a bad person by criticizing that as a negative even though that's the point. The game succeeded in eliciting one of many intended reactions. This is something a lot of YouTube gamers fail to understand because it's much easier to cry and claim critics got paid when in reality they were just approaching the game as a piece of art instead of restricting gaming from coming outside the box of only being categorized as fun

In Phil's defense, he does admit that the game is fine if you see it as a piece of art. But he takes the dumbest most roundabout way to get there and didn't need to spoil the entire game in his review. Real critics such as myself were able to write thoughtful reviews only vaguely discussing the second half of the game instead of point-blank spoiling everything

He's another idiot doesn't understand Ellie is going to have a different personality after five years which is not character assassination. You think someone that practically dated a teenager would understand they are always growing and changing.

He also doesn't have simple facts of the game right. Joel never gave up his name to Abby, that was all Tommy's doing who was always the more trustworthy brother going back to the prologue of the first game

As someone who cried twice while playing the game, even I couldn't stop laughing at how much he was overexaggerating parts of his review. He was acting like the game forced him to commit a legitimate crime

Hilarious how he lets everyone immediatly know what the surgery might cost, even though he hasn't seen a doctor about it, and even though eardrums repair themselves naturally like a wound.

Not only does Phil has the worst ear infections known to man (yes they hurt, bit are never excruggiating in pain levels), it is never enough for him to have pain in 1 ear, or somehow it doesn't escalate to something worse.

I swear, if he said he'd take a few days off.for his wife's birthday, even the detractors would.react understanding.

An absolute clown, and he can't help but crown himself the king of suffering.

I'm going to be honest, I was one of those people that could say watching Phil got me through some sad times. Yes and no. He was more humble back then, even though a couple of cracks were bisible, but in terms of "entertainment" it never really elevated beyond him telling what was happening on screen. But even then he had trouble parsing the information fed to him. One of his most memorable playthrough from "the old days" to me will always be his Xcom: Enemy Uknown playthrough.

He never once uses anything explained in the tutorial mission. He regularly uses soldiers, never uses the tactical advantages given to him, nor does he play smart. He often lumps his soldiers together and then complains that the enemy throws a grenade or uses other area of effect attacks. Now I can understand when it's your first time playing through a new game (because it happens to me as well) that you fuck up every now and then and make mistakes. But true to Phil, he never lears from his mistakes, and will keep making them over and over and bitching about it while he does.

So yeah he might have been more humble, but personality wise, he has always been "Phil", complaining, blaming the game/devs, controls, lags, etc.

What "changed" Phil is, I believe, the move to streaming. Now he can directly interact with his viewers and more often than not this elicit a direct response. If he asks for money, he gets it. And the more this worked, the more he did it. No more humble Phil, he finally showed us his true colours. And there is tons of footage of Phil acting like an absolute ass, like the infmaous "YOU WANT ME TO RUN THE TOURNAMENT FOR YOU!?"

Phil has been Phil all this time. A narcissist doesn't become one, they are one. It's called a personality disorder for a reason. But the mask just has come off throughout the years. And that's the thing, they can be very charming and disarming when you first meet one, but as time goes by, they turn more and more into their true selves. And I can tell you this from experience sadly.

He's not alone in this, but this is the epitome of stupid internet culture. "Oh my God, I might have a serious condition that requires surgery! Imagine people going up their employer and go: "yeah sorry about missing the last two days, but I am gonna need you to tripple my pay for today to make up for it".

How can Phil have unexpected big bills, and how can he be out of money for groceries. Fucker has had a huge surplus of money thanks to the vest, his creditcard debt got wiped lowering his expenses.

You know what? Fuck it. If his fans want to get conned by the same lies that hold no water anymore, so be it. It's just amazing that Phil can spout whatever bullshit he wants, and his fans fork over the money.

Also, the fucking king ot suffering called the stream "Phil fights through the pain!". And no, I am not paraphrasing or somesuch. That is what he called the stream.

His commentary is riveting as ever. He only repeats dialogue or says what is happening on screen. He also looks misserable.

I'm just surprised this one ended because I was starting to go against my own thoughts and think he really did have someone making sure it goes on the matter what. The Tony Hawk playthrough is fucking awful, and he has build in several outs. Like his viewers not enjoying the game, so he can stop.

He has turned off the music in the game completely, not because of Youtube, but because of possible DMCA strikes in Twitch. First of all, he always deletes his VODs, and unless you are streaming a movie or pay per view sports, you are not getting DMCA'd.

The lack of music highlights how utterly boring and incompetent Phil is. He believes that a combo of 10.000 points is good (hint: it is not) and he believed that a total score of 30.000 is an accomplishment. He is hating the gamr and looking to quit it.

He is really hamming up the ear infection, becausr after his break he had cotton or gause or some shit in his ears. This is some next level shit.

The only thing he talked about, was how bad his ear infection was. He also struggled at the game pretty badly, he should just stick with Avengers, that game is bettet suited for him.

Didn't make the vest goal during Paper Mario, kept repeating it 3 times in a row and some epic stalling. After the credits rolled on Paper Mario he kept going on for 20 minutes whining a d complaining. He was mad that no one stepped up. But he didn't care if it would end right?

And the best/worst thing? After his end of stream slideshow started, he came back to the mic. Glaring at his screen hoping at a miracle that someone would still keep the streak going. That is some grade A desperation. He repeated his last minute guilt trip, and then switched the stream off.
