Someone askes what Phil does during his "between stream" break.

The answer was just basically him reciting the memes about how hard his "job" is. He explained in an over the top manner what he does for Youtube, the hardest part which is to get a thumbnail for his videos. But then said someone makes them for him for free, but he still has to download them (what the actual fuck). Apparantly he forgot to tell his viewers he no longer has to babysit his Youtube uploads, and Youtube basically takes no time, which goes against his established narrative.

He also only gets to see Kat 15 minutes per day during those breaks before she goes to work. Even though she works only 3 days a week. And after Kat leaves, he has to sit down to pay bills. Every. Single. Day.

He then went on a tangent about chargebacks. Saying that the leaderboards haven't been legit at least 3 times, and saying no one should try to deduce Phil's income from the tips because of potential chargebacks. To me this all sounds like he is once again trying to both obfuscate his income while simultaniously trying to squeeze more money out of his viewers. You see, even though he makes money, he sometimes doesn't, so others have to fill in the gaps.

He then went on to say that hopefully people will balance out his income/chargebacks so he can buy the new Xbox. But doesn't mention (of course) the 3.000 dollars in cheers, even though that is exactly what he meant by balancing out his income.

Everything Phil does, and everything he says is designed to wrangle as much money as he can out of his viewers. It's either bills, taxes, some weird emergency and now chargebacks. He is never honest about how much he makes, because as long no one knows for sure, he has the leeway he needs.

When you and I have to pay bills (you know, the ones that aren't automatically deducted, this is the 21st century after all) it'll take us an hour per month at best to make sure we have gotten it. Phil has to sit down EVERY DAY to pay bills. And even then, things might go wrong! He does his best to pay them every day, because if he doesn't do it every day, there may be grave concequences.

You and I play games, we enjoy them. To Phil it is hard fucking work. He has to concentrate on what is happening. He has to read out loud, sorry I mean voice act, what it says on screen. It also takes tremendous effort to explain all the things that are happening on screen. And on top of that, he has to also engage his audience. Streaming is literally the hardest job he's ever had.

He also barely has time to see his wife. He only sees her 15 minutes per day, before she goes to work. Even though she only works 3 days a week, and it would be fucking easy as shit to plan his streaming around that.

Speaking of his schedule, it is a holy written word. It cannot be changed or altered in any way or form. He HAS to play the new releases, he HAS to play the way it is planned. He can never change things around, because that will have direct negative implications. You'd think he has a hair trigger employer that will fire his ass for not giving 100% adherence to said schedule.

All these things combined make for an extremely draining and demanding life. He will never have time for himself and his "family" because he works so much, and so hard. So much that having a full time 9 to 5 job other people have is easy in comparison. And if something goes wrong, it can be devastating. Remember when Kobe Bryant died? Phil compared that to losing progress (about 30-60 minutes) during KOTOR. The impact of him losing progress in a game he streamed is comparable to a human life.

No matter what hardships you endure, no matter how physically taxing your job is, how mentally draining. No matter what personal issues you are going through: Phil ALWAYS has it worse.

I'm not going to dispute that streaming isn't a tiring job, especially for those competent and good at it, who stream and play games for 7-8+ hours a day. Those are streamers who actually interact with their chat, though, and are good at games. I also wouldn't count what Phil does as voice acting, especially since he's literally just reading what's on screen in his own voice. There are other streamers out there who try to make characters have voices (and they aren't aspiring voice actors, either).

I do agree that Phil makes a mountain out of a molehill on a lot of things.

i don't want to sound offensive when i say this - you kinda described signs of autism in adults just now. I share some of these traits myself, but we all have varying degrees of it.

• Changes to his routine are devastating.
• Social interaction is taxing - it's no secret he's isolated and avoids people.
• When you get something to focus on you try to go "all in" on that one thing. Foregoing other shit.
• He has issues with being affectionate. (I recently apologized about this to my gf as she is very affectionate, and i felt like shit for it for it not being natural to me.) He never seems know the right time to touch kat as she seems to have her own issues, and the lack of communication shows. She obviously looks uncomfortable. Maybe, she actually does love him in her own way if you look at the relationship this way. I hate to over analyze things like relationships, but it would explain everything. You all kept asking why they would not share a bed...sensory issues makes sense?

Doesn't give him the pass on blatantly insulting his viewers all the time though.

Phil is hinting hard that he is dealing with hundreds of dollars in chargebacks and hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in medical bills because of his ear infection.

As such, he may not be able to afford the PS5 anymore.

He is again doing what he can to cry poor. It's always the same thing, give me money because of 'x'. Where x can be taxes, bills, or whatever the fuck he wants.

Also, he rage-a-thon which lasted 12 hours, contained 3 hours worth of breaks, 1.5 hours of pre-stream and countless interruptions to read out messages. It was particularly bad during Jump King, where he spend more time doing shout outs than actually play the game. Even during 12 hours, he "works" less than anyone with a fulltime job.

Soon none really. If the Midwest thing goes away, and I'll be honest here, I fully expect it to (thanks to his bankruptcy he legally has no money to pay that condo), he can never cry poor because those two things (condo and credit cards) were huge money drains.

My bet is actually taxes. But this time, he will ACTUALLY pay them. Well, let his viewers pay them, but since his debts are cleared, he will actually havr money to pay the taxes. And he will use the same old trick in a different way as such.

I guess I'm an asshole, because I have zero sympathy for Phil. He himself burned every bridge there is, with his friends and his family. He publically shamed the one person who cared about him, and treats the people he relies on like shit.

I've gone through a depression, hell I am going through one now. Not once have I acted like an insufferable asshole because of it, and I sure as shit would never use it as an excuse to justify my behaviour.

Sorry for the double post, but I finished watching last night's pre-stream, and fuck me, he is something else:

-talked about his visit to Urgent Care (for a fucking earache, let that sink in for a second) and complained about physician's assistants and nurses being doctors in training who have no idra what they are talking about.

-complained about the lack of specialists, and how most of them are booked by now. I guess being a massive fucking narcissist makes it hard to realize we are in a global pandemic, and as such, there are far needing people in terms of medical care.

-again, the ear infection is something that requires urgent care (fuck me), and due to the lack of specialists he has to come back the next day. This is a HUGE inconvience for him. His lack of empathy once again shows.

-Phil, who knows literally every law says it's illegal to require an employee to go through training for a skill that wasn't listed in their job description when you hired them. This is by far some of the dumbest shit to ever leave his mouth.

-Kat had to drive him to the doctor's.

-15 years later, Phil is still butthurt over getting fired from Best Buy. And he was 'framed' by Best Buy who used his purchasing of 3 PS3's as an excuse to fire him for not completing this training.

-he then defended being fired from Best Buy, by buying the PS3s for his tournament as "personal use", seeing how he used his employee discount for them.

-for some fucking reason he got offended over employers training their employees, learning them new skills to increase their market value.

-and then the crunch thing from my previous post.

Phil either makes everything about himself, or just refuses to see that there are others, other people who also have needs. And more than often those needs trump Phil's. But there never is room in Phil's world for others. This is why he lashes out and is so pissed off by things that happen to everyone daily (and just move on).

This is also what makes Phil irredeemable to me. There is never empathy, sympathy, understanding that there are other people with needs like his own.

That game is gonna chew him up and spit him out. Also the fact he calls it a JRPG is... ugh. He'll probably put it on the easiest mode and try to grug smash his way through it but there's a lot of reading involved and the quest system doesn't always tell you exactly where to go.

This is all really insightful, thanks for sharing.

Also, his Crash 4 stream is a dumpster fire. He played on the modern difficulty, which gives you unlimted lives, but chat wanted him to play on thr retro difficulty, which works with lives and can cause a game over. Of course, Phil being his toxic self berated anyone suggesting playing on retro, calling thrm whiny. Literally everyone in thr chat wanted him to play retro, and git upset when he got a cheer asking the same.

Then, true to Phil's ability (or lack there of) to play games, he died to literally the first enemy you encounter in the game.

Phil, wanting to 100% the game for some reason, kills himself every time he misses a wumpa fruit. This leads to him killing himself at least 15 times during the first secret level. But Phil being Phil and thus sucking at games, manages to miss several fruits. This causes him to get really salty.

He then started complaining that this gamr is very different from and much harder than the previous games. No actual rage, because he ready hit over 100 dollars in tips, so he is clowning it up hard.

I found some enjoyment watching him play crash bandicoot 4, but it's likely because he wasn't whining about money and was handling his deaths okay. I don't blame him for sticking with modern because this is not like the original games at all. The levels are much longer and with more content, so the lives framework would be incredibly punishing here given that he is going for as many gems as he can

I actually enjoy that he's killing himself and doing his best to get the crates. Also the fruit doesn't matter. I honestly have no idea what it does in this game, so that's why he skips it

Crash is one of my favorite franchises of all time and I do agree this game is different even though it looks extremely similar on the surface. This one throws you into levels that have nearly 200 crates in them from the beginning, which goes to shows you how much larger these levels are. In the original games it was rare for a level to crack 100 crates because they were so much shorter. There's also added challenge goals for each level in much more content in general. Anyone familiar with the franchise will also tell you this is the hardest one since the first game

DSP doesn't allow people to argue. Don't know why you bother. Found out he played Hollow Knight during his rage-a-thon. Didn't rage, and he actually did pretty well. He did complain a lot - "I'm lost. I don't know what I'm doing." Like... duh, that's what Hollow Knight is about: exploring, getting lost and stumbling upon treasure and bosses. Besides that, all went well. He said he might actually play the entire game during October.

I found Hollow Knight harder than all three Dark Souls games, so I can't wait to see how Phil does.

How old are you. DSP played a lot of the early Nintendo games, and you tend to keep traits you learn as a child a lot more than the ones you learn as an adult, so hard, 2d platforming might just be easier to him than 3d fights. I'm f'n terrible at 3d games like Dark Souls and even the 3d Zelda games, but I'm f'n awesome at playing and beating Ghost N' Goblins, Bubble Bobble, Smash TV, ect, and I'm also good at The Binding Of Isaac and Hollow Knight. Those 2d games are just easier for me to play because that's what all my video game skills came from. So maybe it's the same for him?

He's definitely pretty good old school 2D games and has beaten some of the more challenging ones. I also think he's doing pretty well playing like crash bandicoot 4. He's genuinely trying to get as much as he can instead of blasting through all of the levels. The people wanted him to play classic mode are actually morons because that would be way to punishing for this one's game design

I think it's not that phil is "bad" per say, it's just his attitude. Nothing is his fault, he never reads text or instructions so how would he know what to do, he doesn't do trial and error, just the same tactic over and over till chat helps him out.

He's beaten games like dark souls and bloodborne, he even beat a boss easily that I found hard. But that was because he read a guide.
