Nah. Articles coming out that McConnell has given blessings to dump trump to Senators if they need to in order to win their elections. Republicans are not far from being in open war with one another. You have them accusing Mnuchin of being a Democrat every other day now.

If you are spending over $10,000 in a single year on State and Local Taxes then your income is very high. If you are itemizing your income in such large amounts your income is very high.

You can afford to not have your federal income further reduced by the amount over 10,000 you pay to State and Local taxes.

As such I would disagree with an effort to remove this itemization limitation.

As someone who makes only 40k a year, my loan interest and taxes make my itemized deduction over 10k.

also, FD, you've gotta remember that the State and Local Tax cap was explicitly a targeted political move to punish people in New York and California (And other Democrat-run states, which have higher taxes on average) for not voting for Trump/Republicans

In my experience, people don't remember what they learned in high school science for more than three months after the year ends. Even many of my friends in a STEM field seemed to have forgotten almost everything they learned that wasn't directly relevant to their interests

Mortgage interest isn't included in the 10k cap. Only state and local taxes.

It's what I've been observing, even among students getting good grades. The skill at gaming the college admission system is up, actual learning is down. The thing that's declined quite sharply is writing ability. I dunno if we should blame social media or schools assigning so much homework kids don't have time to read books for fun (which is how you actually learn).

You are too young to vote. But don't worry! You'll still be eligible to be put into crippling debt for the rest of your life so that you can have a chance to have a future! Unless, of course, you were born into a rich family. In which case you don't have to worry about the debt, much like you never had to worry about the draft! Bone Spurs! They're the number one choice of rich kids everywhere. You're also old enough to be tried as an adult! But that won't stop us from charging you as one when you're even younger than that! Why should you get to vote? You aren't as educated as some of us, even though many of us don't have a college, or even high school education! Sure, we don't stop those people from voting. Because then we would probably never win an election again.

Donald Trump was $1 million in debt very early on (to his father lol). But given the current state of student loan forgiveness, I don't see why a rich family would spend a dime more of their own money to send their kids to college than they have to. Taking out loans and investing the assets is a much better strategy. The interest rate for undergrad loans is like 3% - not hard to do better than that in the market. And, the student loans can end up getting forgiven if the child doesn't make a lot of money. The loans could be forgiven even if the child earns a lot of money if Bernie or Liz get elected!
