I mean, yeah, probably. Although for the same reason as why I kind of fled from the "interim House appointments" is because methods can vary by state and you could potentially see battles between governors and state legislatures in states where there's divided government.

CO, KS, KY, LA, ME, MT, NC would have Dem Governors in Red Senate Seats up in 2020.
AL and VT would have Republican Governors in Blue Senate Seats up in 2020.

So if it were simply "Governor appoints replacement" (and it very much may not be!) that's actually a +5 net to Dems over the current status quo which would flip it anyway... I think.

Depending on how inaugurations line up, some of those governerships might be vacant as well, although I suppose that maybe the handful of governor elections that are up in 2020 might go forward for continuity of government purposes.

That being said, I would be relatively optimistic in regards to chicanery regarding temporary Senate appointments. Not because I have any faith in politicians' moral compass, but just for political reasons. There are several states listed, such as KY, KS, and MT, where playing games with the appointment would seriously hamper future election chances for the Democratic governor doing so (I think that Cooper and Edwards are term limited?), cases like VT and MA, where the State Houses would just overrule the Governor most likely, or a case like CO, where it doesn't make sense to antagonize people for a Senate Seat Dems are heavily favored to win anyway.

We need to know that we aren't being cheated. They should set the cutoff for mail-in votes such that if they are not received by election night, they don't count.

He (and other members of the GOP) did this in 2018, remember. He was trying to cast doubt on AZ and FL as both races tightened as absentee ballots were counted.

I think the Republicans may want to make election security a top concern, and include it as a must-have provision of the new virus relief bill. I think this is a way more important and beneficial thing for the country than their stupid liability shield for employers.

That being said, what is the exact reason some results in the US take so long? Vote results should be a 24 hour turnaround time, tops. Like some districts in the primary took weeks, and theres no way to feel comfortable with that.

In some states people are allowed to mail in their ballots and have them counted as long as they are postmarked by election day.

Well played by the Republicans. They only put that tax hike in so it would qualify for budget reconciliation. Now the Dems want to cut taxes, and if both parties agree, they don't need to worry about balancing the budget anymore.

Anyways, if the Dems want to remove the SALT tax caps, it would benefit me personally even though I don't think it's good policy. Won't feel too bad about it. Not going to be enough to buy my vote though.

If you are spending over $10,000 in a single year on State and Local Taxes then your income is very high. If you are itemizing your income in such large amounts your income is very high.

You can afford to not have your federal income further reduced by the amount over 10,000 you pay to State and Local taxes.

As such I would disagree with an effort to remove this itemization limitation.
