First match hurts. A lot. Both are potentially top five in the whole bracket. I gave Apostle's Maruad the higher rating in the first round, but I think I'll give the nod to the other. Maraud has the mixed time signatures and is grander in scope, but Colress wins in terms of atmosphere and quirkiness....

Second match also results in a vote I didn't expect. The world of spirit hasn't grown on me at all and it just sounds boring compositionally now and the baby robo voice vowels doesn't sound as awesome to me anymore. Meanwhile TIGAR just sounds better now than usual.... huh. Man, the second minute of it is SO GOOD.

Match 1 decision: solid, but painful. This is my 4th favorite vs. 13th favorite. Sad that one of these has to go (happy that automatically one of these two will be advancing!). but it also isn't a hard decision. pretty clearly prefer apostles as much as colress has for a long time been one of my favorite pokemon songs. apostles maraud might be like, my favorite song that isn't "10/10" currently, at least it's pretty DARN close. one of my top favorite basiscape tracks for sure and did you know that i like this sound teaam called basiscape a lot ? if you didnot know that, now you know.

Match 2 decision: less solid. I gave tigar 78th (7.93) and world of spirit 52nd (8.665), so it'd seem like i pretty clearly prefer spirit but it's honestly close. I like them both a lot, world of spirit is more solidly one style all the way through and I don't really dislike any part of it. TIGAR is more varied so it has its ups and downs, if it was only its ups, it'd be way above world of spirit,, but it is not. sorry to thep olymetric for 2 seconds hayato asano being a big computer sound design man so good at the computer

Apostle's Maraud is my favorite VGMC discovery this year, out of what's still alive anyways. I wasn't too impressed with Colress when I first heard it, but it's growing on me with each listen. Second match is a lot easier.

already getting into some super evil matches, this bracket is rough

in truth, this might be the most tragic division, apostle's maraud has already grown on me immensely since last round. that said, it isn't enough to overturn my favourites pick here because colress is just insane and i'm not sure if i'm capable of having any less of a positive opinion of it at this point. Still, whatever loses here absolutely should be getting at least a +2 from me in the second wildcard match. Probably. Not that that means much, i'm sure whatever i least want will end at the top again like with the test match

another thing i realised i like a lot more this time was the world of spirit but as you can see again that didn't matter. again in a direct comparison with other all phase mixes, i'm not a fan of tigar, but in its own little bubble, and in this bracket too, it's just still obscene. but yeah really liked world of spirit today especially and i would consider it far from bad (even pretty comfortably above average in the bracket, it probably would've been easily top 2 songs yesterday possibly #1 for me over nekomata) but also it's still the lowest thing today and that's a shame.

Match 1 was surprisingly close... At first I was gonna vote for Apostle's Maraud because it was better than I remembered from round 1. Then I saw what it was up again and was gonna vote for Colress for being one of the few redeeming modern Pokemon songs. Then I went back and realized that Apostle only dips in quality in the last minute (which was fresh in my mind) but the rest of it is more varied and interesting. So it's more music for longer and I need to post my vote before I change my mind again.
