There aren't actually safe spots in Savage, because every player will have at least one AoE dropped directly under them. However, the non-tracking AoEs follow the east-west lanes through the arena; if you stand directly on one of the lines separating those lanes you keep your movement to a minimum.

So I just recently got PLD to 50 (I'm definitely feeling more comfortable having started from level 1 than when I tried out DRK and didn't know what the fuck I was doing). How does tanking in raids/trials work? In particular, how does it get decided who's MTing assuming no explicit communication, how do you avoid fighting for aggro, how does MTing/OTing work in alliance raids, etc?

Whoever turns on tank stance first, they're the MT. If you put tank stance on and pull, then the other tank provokes off you, let them have it - never argue with DF idiots. Chances are the other tank is just going to die to something stupid and you'll be back to MT.

In 24 mans, the first tank that pulls is the MT. Try to keep an eye out for if/when they die and be ready to Provoke, but usually if you aren't MT you have adds or something to take care of.

As a general rule, if you're OT then do the first minute or so of the fight with tank stance off, then turn it on. That way if the MT dies you should already have a decent aggro lead on the rest of the party.

i can't stress the DF idiots statement enough - people will do crazy things that don't make any sense at all. Just don't let it get to you, and don't get into a big dick contest to try to save them from themselves (by fighting them for aggro) since that normally ends even worse.

Augh, I saw someone whose character looked almost exactly like mine except with a slightly better face and I'm trying to figure out what I fucked up in the character creation settings, but as far as I can tell the settings to recreate her model just don't exist. Like it kinda seems like the primary difference (besides eye color) is that her eyes seem closer together? But I don't think that's even an option in character creation.

I'm fine with wiping repeatedly. I'm just really hoping that I'm not the one holding us back from DPS checks for extended periods of time or something!

We've been asked to watch a video, so I'll be doing that. I'd be down for blind progging myself, but I don't think everyone else has the patience.

It depends on if you're a purist or not, but one of the factors that makes Ultimates unique is that there's always some kind of additional puzzle to solve that'll wipe you over and over until you figure it out, regardless of how good you are technically as a team, and obviously knowing this ahead of time removes some of the 'difficulty' of the fight. There's plenty of examples of world first clear teams comparatively breezing through the early stages of a fight, then spending hours stuck on these roadblocks like it's a CoD: Zombies easter egg or something.

That actually does sound like something I'd enjoy; one of my hobbies is actually doing puzzle hunts! I think only a couple of people in the group have much unsynced savage experience, though, so I'm guessing we'll already have our hands full just executing a known strategy correctly.

The DPS checks in Stormblood ultimates are a complete joke nowadays. If your group gets walled anywhere it won't be because of damage.

I honestly haven't priced logograms in forever, but back when eureka was current content they were absurdly overpriced on the marketboard. Like, I did one heatbox party one time for like 20-30 minutes and made millions off all the tactical logograms I got.

I found most of the logograms easier to get in Hydatos. For instance, protective logograms were gold chest only in pyros, but can be found in bronze chests in hydatos. If you hate the thought of doing bunnies or heatbox farms, and want the armor, the marketboard is probably for you.

I've been trying to clear HoH with a group of friends, and 81-90 are just so, so brutal. 91-100 isn't a lot better, but god 81-90 are obnoxious, even at max aetherpool.

How the hell do you even solo it...

I've been kinda itching to do a deep solo run. From what I've read, it comes down mostly to two things:

Absurd game knowledge (trap locations, what mobs are deadly to solo, which mobs patrol, aggro by proximity vs sight, etc) and extreme patience.
