Lol I went to Limsa Lominsa for the envoy quest and ended up doing a bunch of side quests not realizing I was just going to deliver the letter and then fuck off. So then I was like "huh actually I wonder how many main quests I have until Heavensward since people keep saying emphasizing that" and looked it up

So I've learned I've never bought a riding map ever, for any area. How drastic of a change in speed are they?

zero when flying, which you'll have in every zone in about a month

on the ground though, its a pretty substantial increase. I bought all of them when i started hunting, and it was so worth it.

I have all of them. I haven't seen exactly how much they speed up anywhere, but it's definitely not minor. Maybe like a 50 or 60% speed increase or something?

Yeah I bought the Lightning Gear and was like "if this is only useful for like 2-3 levels this sucks."

pyros is way better. theres a cliff you can drop off but its very much 'shortcut only'

pagos has the worst map design by a mile

I have like 9 weapons ready to start the hydatos grind, and i just don't feel like doing it. To do it efficiently you gotta be on when people are running BA for those sweet sweet support fate crystals, and i'm too lazy to check if runs are ever going

which is also why i stop before physeos, since meh running BA 4 times per weapon

Assuming you've never set foot in Eureka before, Anima. Anima mostly just involves a lot of Poetics tomestones, which aren't exactly hard to get. Zodiac has some truly obnoxious steps (hello books). Eureka involves its own self-contained levelling system, plus having to deal with now-deserted content that was designed to have dozens of players per instance.

I'm glad you enjoy it!

I'm really hoping we get a similar experience in the "new" eureka. Early BA had legit stress in it, since you couldn't trust 85% of the people around you to do accel bombs or meteors, even in "clear" groups. I was even nervous doing Raiden because like what if we got far enough in his pattern to have to do multiple mechanics at once oh gosh.

Also, people didn't have all the elemental gear/physeos weapons, so enrages actually happened all the time. it was a great time to be alive. It used to be a legit strat to wait until the BA timer was between 8:30 and 10 minutes before pulling AV, so that if you failed enrage everyone would die, get kicked out, and people could be rezzed without losing exp

I agree that Anima is likely fastest fresh, but eureka for repeat weapons

I went through Eureka once until I finished Circinae Eureka (BRD weapon), and that was with Dante and numbers babysitting me through Anemos, Pagos and Pyros. Once was enough for me just to say I'd done it. I can't imagine how much harder it is and how much longer it takes doing it entirely solo at this point of the game.

If you to to ARR, HW, and SB S ranks as they get announced, youll have a bazillion of them too. I haven't done a weekly hunt since uh, I may never have, and I have like 7000 tickets

At least on Primal, that isn't really an issue outside of Anemos sometimes. The content drought has people coming back to Eureka fairly heavily.

I don't always get yelled at for dying to mechanics in Copied Factory, but when I do it's because I actually died to aggro on an add instead of any of the several times I actually died to mechanics...!

Yes, but it's a lot of poetics. If you have any ARR beast tribe currency I'd use as much of it as you have to buy the unidentified items (since that currency's otherwise pretty useless).

I almost have every class at 80. Just 8 more combat levels, and like 50 crafting levels (spread amongst three classes).

idk what i'll do until i can grind upgrades for all these random relic weapons i've bought for no reason than they were super cheap

I've always sold the maps. Are they worth it?

Whatever the current tier of maps is (I think it's Zonureskin?) is worth doing with a party of people you trust. Usually when I do maps with friends the rule is the map's owner gets first call on whatever treasure spawns, and anything they don't want is free roll. Obviously something like that is impossible to enforce with randos, especially when the loot you're rolling on is potentially worth millions of gil.

I dont do maps but I assume the enforcement for randos is that they cycle through turns for the map and if you steal loot you get kicked from the party and blacklisted and don't get to do your maps anymore

Everything is fine for solo play, all of the single-player content is designed to be doable with every job. But Paladin is a tank so you're going to have to be comfortable with tanking in multiplayer dungeons and trials.
