Uhhh most of the people I went through the story with thought it was Vauthry. People really thought it was the lion? It's a barely edited version of a 60 dungeon miniboss!

I'm trying to level a miner but now in Heavensward the class quest is just miserable. Unless there's something I'm not getting, how am I supposed to grind HQ items of hidden items?

I think the rate of the hidden item showing up for that isnt terrible (and I dont think it ends up being that much slower since youre waiting for GP to regenerate a lot of the time anyway to get +30%HQ), but yeah buying them is easier if you dont want to bother.

It's a pretty bad rate since you have to wait for the item to show up AND it's RNG to get the HQ. All I can say is make sure you have good enough gear to have close to the max base HQ chance (15%) and use skills strategically. It's probably worth gambling with Bountiful Harvest after you use the second +HQ skill just to collect more at once.

And the items ended up being cheaper in the market board than a roulette so yeah, that might be the way to go.

Amaurot is one of the best dungeons I've ever seen, aesthetically and for narrative. It's a masterpiece.

5.0 beated!

The whole last section of the game was great (well, besides the Ondo I guess). Emet-Selch was a really enjoyable villain, and I loved the replica city of Amaurot (it looked fantastic, too). If I understood correctly, I guess the WoL and Ardbert are both fragments of an Ascian? Is this Ascian then also one of the members of the council? They mentioned there being 13 or 14 members, so the WoL splitting off from the Zodiark faction would explain that.

Other questions:

1. Why were the Ascians giant? Were they all like that and then the surviving ones shrunk themselves down or something?
2. I guess the original calamity was caused by some sort of chain reaction hysteria with the ascians causing their creation magic to manifest nightmares or something? It wasn't totally clear what triggered this or how it spread
3. What was the deal with the Shoebill? I saw the theory that it was Emet-Selch. I didn't start noticing it in the point and click segments until Tomra; did it show up before then?

I've now finished up through E5 and the Copied Factory

Question on loot rules for stuff with a weekly lockout: I understand that I can only win one token/one piece of gear per raid per week on stuff that's on lockout. Is it the same for collectables? I thought that's what the little guide thing said so I only rolled for one of those at the end of copied factory, but it seemed like there were a lot more rolls going on than would be the case if that were true. Did I actually just pass on the other stuff for no reason?

If it does not increase your stats you can roll on it all you want. Minions, orchestrion rolls, and in Copied Factory's case the 2B coffer can be rolled on until you get them.

So if I wanted to get through the Crystal Tower stuff, what would be the best way. Levels re Id-50s with the ARR tomestone gear, story progression Ive finished 2.5 but havent yet started HW.

If you're 50 and have Ironworks gear just queue up and go. You only need the base 2.0 story done and the earliest the Crystal Tower storyline is relevant is technically the very end of the Heavensward patch story, and isn't directly relevant until Shadowbringers, so you can basically do it whenever the hell you want.

^ is entirely correct. Queue at your own convenience, the only reason I would recommend sooner is because it will open up an alliance raid roulette, which can be used as another source of EXP every day if you want to level more jobs.

I did actually do another run yesterday for my alliance roulette!

Still fucked up Engels a lot but I think I have the other bosses down now. I also got the 2B glamour, which I'm using now since the tomestone BLM gear doesn't look very good imo

if you didn't notice (or got the same alliance twice), the second boss actually has different mechanics depending on which alliance (A, B, or C) you get. I liked that touch

Day 1 alliance raids are the best. Love going in with the boys and laughing to all the stupid shit everyone dies to.

In other news, I am currently reprogging TEA on AST. I am not a healer main. Every single raid day it feels like my brain is being stretched in 8 directions at once.

Hyoton itself is basically obsoleted by Raiton, but way later (level 76, maybe?) you get Enhanced Kassatsu, which makes Hyoton better with Kassatsu.
