Amarant and Freya's seem very similar, they both have the elemental radiant shield. Amarant might be a bit better because of the crit boost.

I tried Zalera again but his phase 3 is just too fast and hard to damage for me. I hate to lose the rat tails from that time limited mission.

Finally was able to make an auto-magicite team so I can do some easy farming, it's about 90% consistent. For Hecatoncheir:

Bartz (AASB1 or 2, tested both and results are similiar)
Aerith (USB2)
Cloud (Sync/USB1, though the Sync alone would probably suffice)
Ellara (USB1)
Zack (CSB)

No 6* abilities from rubies, for magicites only my two Madeens have inheritance. Powercreep is real!

I finally got around to beating Dark-Weak Odin (a year after he debuts, oy) And with a level 50 Diabolos magicite to boot! (I really don't wanna fight Diabolos again until I can pick Rem's sync with the stamp system)

I used to have Sephiroth in the first slot but he ended up being too much of a meter hog and Tyro needs that meter for his glint/usb1 and entrusting Elara. He was having trouble breaking cap anyway when Odin got to rage level 3. I swapped him Gaffgarion who I thought was a dud but his command 2 on his sync is an overstrike which keeps Odin's level down making it easier for Kiros to tear through him to get through the third phase ASAP.

That just leaves lolBio Odin but ehhhhh.....

Ticket day!

As usual, I spent mine on FFVIII. Things were looking pretty good with 2 rainbows and 2 discos, but 3 of them were dupes, including another damn copy of Ward's AASB. Unless I misremember, that's the 5th time I've pulled it. At this rate, I'll be able to cast that thing twice without even using a single Scroll. 9/15 there already.

Ughhhh I had water-weak Dark Odin set up to kill, but Tiduss ace shot chase hit for 99k and pushed him into phase 3. Bartzs AOSB was going off shortly, as was Rikkus chain again. Super frustrating.

Was constantly getting run over early, so decided to lifesiphon with Tidus, then use bUSB so I could get Odins rage back down without having to burn a fabula mage. His brave command brings it down one, Famfrit brings it down a second time, so the first savage zantetsuken is only level 0 (3k damage). Still pretty sure I can beat him, though sap can mess with last stand towards the end.

I did get Snow's ice chain on the daily draw today. But since I already have Laguna's ice chain and Celes's ice chain, it's not much use to me.

Holy shit was that a nail-biter. Sap made Aeris and Rikku both die (right after Rikku summoned Famfrit), Bartz was out of stormspell strikes and was about to bite it to sap, both fabula mages were already spent, and he was sitting at 5.2%. I had renewed chain earlier, and Tidus was still in AASB mode, so constant DCs of sapphire bullets, but it left him at 0.9%! Savage Zantetsuken 1 triggered last stand, and (I assume) right before the sap tick would have ended him, he got one last sapphire bullet off. 39ish seconds.

That's 5 of those fuckers done. Got the 5 accessories!! I'm going to go through my other accessories and rainbow all the ones that have a moderate resist of two elements, and some others. Will keep a few niche ones (notably the +atk or mag and resist an element ones), but this is a huge milestone for me!

I have Mog and Emperor AASB, and Edward's chain, so not sure if it's worth it to take a shot at. I've heard Edward's AASB is pretty crazy though.

You beat Mateus and have Alphinaud awakening don't you? You can go after Typhon, he's one of the easiest to beat of you have an Awakening that can break his savage mode just as long as you're able to keep the speed up with a bard and a quickcast healer USB or Edea's Marche clone USB.

Eh, I got into guardian tales which I like more because being an action RPG means I can play well and beat stuff I shouldn't. I think games that have both intrinsic and extrinsic rewards are more rewarding. No amount of skill let's you best stuff you shouldn't in FFRK

Well to some extent I agree with you. There is some level of power creep inherent in the game, but that being said you can actually get really far just by using non-rng based resources due to the mythril selection draws and the anima lenses.

And on the other hand you literally just cited "perfect inputs" (which is a skill you can train) and I've beaten a lot of stuff I "shouldn't" with my current resources by thinking outside the box in terms of strategies and team compositions. I literally used Dark Knight Cecil as a mage dps to beat Madeen because he was the best suited for the task given the relics I'd drawn as probably the most dumb example off the top of my head of what weird things I've made work in this game.

There's definitely lots of poverty setups and free to play strategies for this game, just look at what SacredX has done. Since the Anima Lens store was updated recently there's plenty of USBs to beat most content up to 5* magicite and Torment right now, heck some people even beat Dark Odin and some 6* magicite with anima lens stuff and a few RNG/_____ Select relics.

Using a physical dark character as a dark mage isn't that left field or even using a mage as a physical DPS like Emperor, especially with Artifacts. For a while Orlandeau was considered the second best dark mage in the game since he was the second character to get a dark Awakening.

Truly weird stuff is like that guy who beat Earth Weak Odin with no Awakenings just Bartz USB 1/2, Ingus chain and Yang, using Barret USB against Adamantoise or me beating Mateus with Vaan BSB + USB1 and using Meliadoul to help beat Earth Weak Odin.

Well it should be noted I used him as a mage with only his USB1, no awakening.

I think "having overpowered relics for a guy and using him for everything" isn't really thinking outside the box per se but yeah.

If you want dumb stuff that works radiant shield strategies are probably your go to. Which I did do that for Phoenix with a bunch of healers and NE radiant shield for my first clears.

Ability Double was the best kind of USB before Awakenings came out so it's not like Decil was some kind of underdog like say Riku using his USB for chases to build chain on Madeen.

Radiant Shield stalling stuff is still used today because some people have no other way to beat Ramuh, it took them 3 hours to kill him but it worked.

Ability double was strong but it's not like "crush things solo because you break damage cap and no one else can" strong. There were a lot of on par options with that.

But yeah the point is you can do a lot of things depending on what you draw if you just consider other options than the standard stuff. You don't have to have the absolute strongest option every time

But Ability Double was the best type of DPS in the pre Awakening days, and his USB1 debuted a lot earlier than Awakenings did. Don't you remember that Vivi/Orlandeau/Palom/Shantotto were considered top tier in the 5* magicite meta? 5* weren't even designed around Awakenings which is why they get crushed so hard by them, and why Dena pushed Brave USBs so much. Awakenings were made for Odin+ level bosses, bosses with twice or higher the amount of HP 5* magicite have.

If I remember right the top DPS for Madeen on launch day were Golbez USB2, Vayne USBs and Seymour USB (oh Riku Awakening if you count that but we got it way earlier than Japan got Madeen) Decil USB was in the top 10, maybe top 5 DPS for Madeen (plus it's not like Madeen was really ever considered hard anyway, she's one of the easiest 5* magicite, just one of the most annoying to sub30.)

I got her HA because I have both her dualcast LMRs and she gets a high chance of dualcasting or even triplecasting with them. Though I'm still sticking with the IC3 LMR since only the dreambreaker will really require it (or Diabolos if I want to get the last 3 of his physical) and everything else dies so fast anyway. I got some revenge on the FF13 torment at least!

That said this boss still sucks ass cuz if you go too fast he starts using his really painful spells before Vanille has the meter to recover, or she's using her glint over overwrite the slow or dispell and she can't get the ATB bar full before she can use a medica USB during that flurry of pain. Guess that shows I'm not ready for the dreambreaker (not that I have the 6* motes to dive FF13 characters for it anyway.)

Y'know the funny thing is because Orlandeau lacks dark infusion outside of his glint+ that came out recently Decil with just his USB is more viable for Alexander than Orlandeau without his glint+ even with his Awakening because of the severe no infusion damage penalty 6* magicite have. Well unless you buff Orlandeau with a crit damage boost like Elara USB2 but you might as well use dark Cloud stuff from the Anima Lens shop if you want to break cap on Alexander.

I'm just saving for the fest with the 500 mythril stamp system and saving my tickets for the refresh.

HA ability wise I want Paines, CoD and maybe Rem's if I pick her Sync during that fest.

I 100 gem'd Fang's dualcast Lmr, sheesh seems like when I do 100 gem something for FF13 it's always Fang stuff.

Oh I also changed my RW to Edward's Awakening and I'm getting so many greens!

I loved tearing Dahaka to shreds for the Cardia missions. 15:82, mostly thanks to Lightning's Sync. I also have Raines and Snow AASBs for the realm, but Dahaka's dead before those two can even get going.

Even that Vanille Glint+ I pulled at some point is useful here as a free Medica, because I kinda need one before she has enough gauge for her BSB.

Yeah, I'm completely ignoring some dreambreakers if I don't think I have a chance. I haven't attempted the XIII one yet. Not sure if I will try 3. The one I'm looking forward to is 8 since I am pretty stacked in that realm.

Getting right through these. Kinda weird party that can be optimized I'm sure but no real risk of losing. I use Garnet's (middle slot) Lightning Chain to use Alphinaud + Tritoch with starting Soul Break on both to savage break relatively quickly, with my only healing being fabula healer (honestly using a real healer and the RW ice chain might be better but eh). Then transition into Celes's phys ice chain once she builds meter for it. It works despite only two damage units because two awakenings is overpowered for 5* magicite.

Which Odins are you having trouble with? And you attempted 6* magicite? Even having 1 level 50 6* magicite is huge help because of the fixed damage breaking savage mode.

I haven't attempted 6*, I figured it was a progression. 5* -> Odin -> 6*

So I'm having problems with my party structure just isn't right or standard. With my wind physical team I can get him down to 30% despite not having someone to do dispel. And my water magic team is the same thing except, I don't have a Imperil person on it so when I get there I run out of gas because he's not weak enough to water.

And then when I adjusted both teams to fix those issues, I can't get back to that 30% mark.

Some Odins are harder than their 6* magicite counterpart (Titan and Alexander are MUCH easier than Wind Weak and Dark Weak Odin) and if you have Rem's Sync Diabolos is completely pacified by it.

Titan can actually be cheesed with stuff in the Anima Lens shop.

Manticore is the weekly magicite for 6* motes so you might as well get him now.

With the Anima Lens+ I got from this week's stroke of the brush I used them to get the last sapphires needed to get Ace's HA! Now I should kill Manticore even faster.

I should also try magic vulnerable Shiva but I'm waiting for the dream selects (of hopefully from one of the free 40 draws from the FFBE event this week) to get Ace's dualcast LMR.

Very difficult actually. Edge Awakened Ninja magic is once again OP here and I'm pretty sure he did more damage than Alphinaud (in Alph's defense I don't have a ton of resources in him, though I do have his sync awakening and glint+ so should I really need to??). (I had Cecil for Sentinel Grimoire since I needed the RW Chain)

You'll want a Adamantoise as main magicitie for earth weak Odin because he uses an overstrike + stun attack early in the fight and Adamantoise's summon give the party a lighting blink, so you're gonna need three more.
