Oathbringer - Using this to represent Shardblades in general as it's up to the imagination as far as designs go for now. Also don't want to delve into any spoilers... so I'll just say, for anyone who doesn't know, Shardblades are basically final fantasy lightsabers. They have fantastical designs and can cut through anything. Also the story revolving around them is a masterpiece. Buster Sword - Oddly enough I never liked this slab of metal before the remake. Always thought of it as the "basic" sword that's meant to be replaced once you find something better. His Advent Children multi-sword was way more badass. But now with the benefit of full HD glory I actually find it less aesthetically pleasing to see anything other than the Buster Sword on Cloud's back. Graceful Dahlia - Way to pick a top tier scythe right off the bat. First have to admit that I never knew the name of this beautiful weapon. Actually thought it was supposed to represent a rose, since Marluxia is elegant but deadly, as a rose is pretty with thorns etc. However I would take a dahlia over a rose any day. All I'm saying is that Marluxia has even better taste than I originally thought, even though I had already deemed him stylish af Monado - Never played a Xenoverse game (although it's on my radar), but I have played Smash Bros. Shulk is a fun character to play, but I never woulda picked him up without that shining beacon of his energy sword. Dothraki Arakh - One of the more interesting weapons in the series, maybe the coolest one even. The blade is wicked yet slick. Probably best for quick executions rather than drawn out duels of any kind. Such as when Daario used it to great effect against that one horse rider. Man Daario was cool. Napoleon - If I hadn't just played Pirate Warriors 4 I would have very little knowledge about this guy. Can I call him a guy? Can I call him a he? Do homies have genders? I'm not completely caught up... Anyway he's a hat that can turn into a sword so that deserves originality points if nothing else. Star Dragon Sword - Never played a Suikoden game and never plan to, but this sword is very aesthetically pleasing to me. At least from the few pictures of it I see. Black blade appeals to me, I like sinister lookin' swords. No idea if that face on the hilt has any relevance, does it talk? You could say that this version is more sentimental though since it's not just another weapon forged by Odin's command, but one forged by our beloved Giant Dwarf Tyrion and Tree's brave arm sacrifice. Even so it's still kinda bland looking and wouldn't be very impressive without the godly lightning powers. Caladbolg - That's what I'm talking about. I really love this sword. Water soothes my soul, the blade is a gorgeous blue gradient with fine silver edges and the contrasting yellow parts... and this baby can strike fools down with extreme efficiency! Best of all worlds. This is the type of FF sword that inspired Shardblades. In fact this is practically the exact blade I imagine Adolin to have. I want a Caladbolg replica on my wall. Frostmourne - Not a fan of WoW in the slightest, but I would never speak against some of its excellent designs. Frostmourne is beautiful, and cool as ice. I dig the asymmetry at the base of the blade too. The hilt has a friendly demon goat (Satan?) face on it which I assume this one doesn't talk. That's too bad, I could use a friend. Z-Saber - Zero is a stand-up guy with a kickass energy sword. Problem is I always liked Proto Man more, if only because of his pre-battle whistle... anyway the blade itself is reminescent of a lightsaber so that must mean it's automatically top tier. Excalipoor - Clearly the best sword in Final Fantasy history, maybe in video game history. Maybe in world history! Just look at those smooth edges, those wavy ridges. Just imagine wielding this beast when some poor fool tries to step up on you, wouldn't stand a chance. What could possibly threaten you now, when you carry the bane of all other weapons. Hmm? It only does 1hp damage per hit? Oh well fuck this thing. Chainsword - Surprisingly knew nothing at all about Warhammer until I looked it up. Seems to be exclusive to PC so perhaps not that surprising then. Anyways the Man At Arms video made this seem like just a regular damn chainsaw, like yeah it's way fancier, and wayyyy heavier, but still a chainsaw. The in game footage didn't impress me much either. Gears of War probably does it better. Blades of Chaos - Many points for originality here, these beauties had me mesmerized when I first played the original God of War when I was 15 and could only play it at my friend's house since I was a sheltered boy. All I really cared about were the boobs anyway. When none of those were around though you can bet I was having a blast shredding through ancient monsters watching these babies dance all over the screen. Chubby swords extended by chains, such an effective method of disemboweling anything that stands five feet from you in any direction. Darksaber - This is my least favorite lightsaber! That includes lightsaber-esque weapons. Just was never a fan of the black blade idea, always held firm that light can't be straight black. A black lightsaber should be purple, and oh we already have those and it's the best color anway. We didn't need this thing... but I suppose I do appreciate how it was integrated into the history of Mandalorians. It's not strictly a lightsaber, it's a "special" lightsaber. I can accept that. Still don't care for it and really hope it never appears in live action.
