I'm not really one to question eligibility, but some of the comments on that video are saying it doesn't: I said this was in the Lunatic Festa CD. This is not in any of the games. Out of a potential (62 people) x (25 votes) = 1550 votes, (132 songs) * (5 votes) = 660 votes have been locked up, leaving 890 free to move around for the remaining 60 slots (although we now have 63 people!). This is actually enough for 59 songs to reach 15/x and 1 song to reach 5/x, with the rest at 0/0! Again, we play the game of guessing how efficiently everyone places their votes so they help as many songs as possible make top 60 (it certainly won't be 100%). We don't have any previous years to use as data points for post-lock vote efficiency, but we can assume that last year's voters would be about as eager as this year's in terms of going for locks. This year had 890/1550 = 57% of votes remain free after locks, so last year would have around 57% x (69 people) x (25 votes) = 990 votes remain post-lock. Since they ended up with 971 useful votes in the end, 735 of which would already be locked, 971-735 = 236 of the 990 free votes would be usefully placed on songs that made top 192. In other words, that's only a 236/990 = 23.8% efficient use of free votes! It actually makes sense that after you cull away everyone keen on using their votes optimally, you're left with a lot of people who are too busy to keep up with the hourly movements or forgot they even had nominations left. Now we're left trying to predict where that 23.8% efficiency number will end up this year. Since last year didn't actually have a locking deadline, I'd say this year should end at a higher number, since the mere addition of locks helped everyone coordinate better in advance of the final deadline. In fact, right now there are already 211 useful votes on songs in the top 60 from the aftermath of the lock deadline, an impressive 211/890 = 23.7% efficiency a day in advance. It's looking like the rate of useful votes will skew higher this year, so I'll give these scenarios for the final numbers: 25% efficiency: 4/x guarantees top 55, 3/x guarantees top 74 30% efficiency: 5/x guarantees top 53, 4/x guarantees top 66 35% efficiency: 6/x guarantees top 51, 5/x guarantees top 62 In the end, it'll all come down to how well people are able to coordinate their votes to support songs that actually make the cutoff. 27% is the magic number for 4/x to guarantee top 60, with 240 votes being useful. Right now, that only requires 29 more votes to be spent on a 3/3 or 3/2, so we probably won't get that guarantee by the end, but rather a cutoff mid-4 or mid-5. I'm going to keep track of how many songs are at 4+ each update, which seems like a good indicator for how people are shifting votes; it should eventually pass 60 which is when 4/x no longer guarantees the bracket. I'll also watch how many votes remain on songs which sit outside the cutoff and are thus candidates for transferring to higher-ranked songs.
