Actual death toll probably not, but they are on their way to leaving no doubt about it eventually. Italy is still in big trouble.

I dont mean to sound insensitive here but it's a little over 3k dead right their population is over 60 million so I dont think the country as a whole is in dire straits yet

I get it death is never great but everyones acting life half the population got wiped out here

Shouldn't it start slowing anyways with the forced quarantine

Well to be fair they say you can recover by doing cardio training so I think it's probably too soon to be sure if that's 'permanent damage' given that many people who recover from things that require hospitalization would experience similar things after being discharged and would gradually recover with time

That being said maybe they won't recover time will tell like not trying to downplay it but yeah I'm not sure that article isn't saying anything that's not 'duh' for anyone who has been hospitalized for a sickness or knew someone who was at the moment.

lung damage is just one of them.
there's evidence and research done to suggest that other organs - kidneys, testicles, heart, thyroid, brain - can be affected by the virus, with effects that are potentially long lasting.

full research remains unknown, obviously.
the important thing is that this coronavirus can potentially affect more than just your lungs but a lot of other parts too, so don't play with it when you get it because you'll just risk a lot more.

They've been on quarantine for about 10 days now. The curve on new cases is still going up.

Too many massive games coming out for them to ignore and they know they will lose a SHIT TON of money

Imagine those games coming out and Gamestop is closed....ti effects publishers too. They;ll lose a ton of sales.

FF7R is not releasing physically on time
Persona 5 Royal is likely stateside at this point so it has a shot
RE3 any moment now will be delayed physically

It's looking more and more like this nationwide lockdown IS going into effect on Monday. Hopefully people listened to me a few days ago and got a head start on preparing, whether it be getting food and supplies or rounding up their loved ones. if not, do so now. I'd say that there is a 90% chance they announce Sunday that you are not to leave your homes for ANY reason beginning Monday.

All the lockdowns I'm aware of so far have only been shelter in place orders which exclude things like going to the grocery, or people in essential work positions going to work, etc. I'd be a lot more quick to believe we'd do something like that at a national level than I am to believe that we're going to transition to a completely militarized state with no (public) advance notice.

I've been hearing that people within my local supermarkets, grocery stores and wholesalers have started to become unneccesarily aggressive and hostile towards staff, particularly in regards to trying to buy more than 1 of specific products today. I didn't notice anything of that sort in the stores I went to, I expect that things are going to be much worse in the following week now that schools close today over here, and will not be surprised if the goverment starts sending out the military to keep people at bay.

Thankfully, me and my family should have enough food for the next 2-3 weeks.

no, they didn't.
if you tested positive or were suspected of testing positive they forced you to a cube/dragged you out/welded you in, sure, but even among the heavy restrictions the restrictions went one person per household was allowed to leave daily. they didn't go 100% you're stuck inside unless, again, you were a positive for having it.

something like, say, California's lockdown right now is far more possible. alternatively, Hoboken's rules. in both cases you can still go out for groceries, for pharmaceuticals, and sanitation purposes (throwing out trash, walking dog, etc).

china forced quarantine and would straight up do whatever it took if it meant forcing you into quarantine if you had it/tested positive with a fever, which is what i mean when i say suspected to have it.

if you didn't though? then you were just held to the extremely restrictive rules of leaving the home.
but that's to say, you could still leave the home. supply lines need to keep moving, people still need to be taken care of, it ain't gonna happen. but stronger restrictions like we see out of some states, totally can buy that.

i mean shit, de Blasio practically abandoned his position as mayor to just beg Trump yesterday, so NYC can use some better limits than what it's got now but it's not gonna be full lockdown, nobody leaves their homes.

At the very end they had drones enforcing you not to leave your house. There are articles in China where citizens complained they couldn't get food.

They tracked everyone with a WeChat App.

those numbers are definitely important. even though 20-44 isn't at an age where you're likely to die it's the group 2nd most likely to demand hospitalization. so you won't die yet but you've likely got permanent damage taking years off your life. the fact that hospitalizations of 20-54 are 49% should speak volumes to how little people are taking care of themselves or taking precautions.

that should serve as another reminder that "mild" with this virus has always had no differentiation between "mild symptoms" and "mild hospitalization" because that's how china was defining it. the only level after that was literally organ failure so as long as your body wasn't shutting down, it was "mild."

you're right. though for what it's worth, i wasn't basing the 20-44 age group being the 2nd worst for hospitalizations based on the chart, it was from this bit:

Among 508 (12%) patients known to have been hospitalized, 9% were aged 85 years, 36% were aged 6584 years, 17% were aged 5564 years, 18% were 4554 years, and 20% were aged 2044 years. Less than 1% of hospitalizations were among persons aged 19 years (Figure 2). The percentage of persons hospitalized increased with age, from 2%3% among persons aged 19 years, to 31% among adults aged 85 years. (Table).

20-44 is still the 2nd highest group of hospitalizations at 20%. meaning 1 in every 5 adult aged 20-44 will need hospitalization.
combined with 45-54, it goes up to 38%.
