Maiev + Clockwork Automaton in wild as well. With Cube you can set up an OTK with hunter or Bloodreaver Guldan hero powers. (And there's some setups for the Demonhunter metamorphosis hero powers as well).

Whoa whoa whoa, I dunno how they snuck this one by me, but they're not gonna have the whole "buy this many packs of new expansion, get a 3rd choice in Battlegrounds" thing this year? Instead, you're stuck with 2, unless you pay them $20 for the Tavern Pass, which lets you choose between 4. And then the pass runs out after the expansion, so you have to pay another $20. This announcement came out last week, but somehow I just realized what that meant for Battlegrounds, because when I saw that earlier, I read the words "4 arena tickets" and dismissed it as something I didn't care about.

Well that's nice, Battlegrounds is gonna be pay to win starting in 3 days, when every other autobattler on the planet has no such feature whatsoever. WTF Blizzard....

2500, which is 100% designed to get you to spend money on it. In order to make 2500 gold playing exclusively Battlegrounds (which is the target audience for the pass), you have to play AT LEAST 750 games. If you go off a 50/50 winrate, that's 1500 games! That's around 600 hours of playtime! Making those big bucks at

I mean you can still do daily quests even if you're planning on playing Battlegrounds. You can easily get 2500 gold from daily quests before a new expansion drops. It might not be fun to make crappy decks for daily quests but if you don't want to do that you could just spend $20 every 4 months.

I think it's a dumb decision too but gotta monetize it somehow!

Yeah, I'm not thrilled with it either. (Although I'm pretty happy with the changes to regular hearthstone to make it cheaper, so overall I'm fairly happy).

If everyone else is at 2, then this is awful and I will boycott battlegrounds. If everyone else is at 3, then this sucks but at least battlegrounds is still playable.

$20 per expansion is bad if you aren't a dedicated battlegrounds player. If it's all you do for entertainment, sure, it's fine, but that's $5/month. I don't even like to spend money on regular Hearthstone, and generally haven't. I understand they need to make money off this from people who are foregoing the main game to play battlegrounds, but I feel like that's maybe a little too high. At the very least, I don't intend to pay it.

They were real vague about it. Here's the quote from the announcement:
"If you currently have Battlegrounds bonus stats, choose from 3 Heroes, or visual emotes unlockedyou will get access to the equivalent new perk starting on March 26."

I don't know if "equivalent new perk" actually means "you keep your 3rd choices" or "we've found something else to give you so we can sell Tavern Passes". The way it's worded leads me to believe it's the latter. If it was the former, I don't feel like they would specifically mention the date. It would just read like "if you have these things, you will continue to have access to the equivalent perks for the upcoming expansion."

The full decks for returning players have been revealed and they're...pretty good.

So...details--if you haven't logged in for 4 months as of March 17 you qualify.

Looking through all these decks, near as I can tell they either come with 3 legendaries...or 2 legendaries and 4 epics (4800 dust value either way). With the rest of the deck filled up with commons and rares (with the new duplicate rule, commons and rares are basically free anyway). All composed strictly of year of the dragon cards (rotation-proof).

The most exciting one is probably the Reno mage, since it has Zephrys, Alex, and Reno--two of these are neutral, and all cards that will be relevant for years (in wild at minimum). The deck doesn't actually look like a good stand alone deck, though. (Actual Reno Mage runs like...800 more legendaries than that).

The most functional one for an actual stand alone deck for someone who hasn't played in years and really doesn't have cards is up for debate; IDK maybe Treant Druid? Reddit seems to think it's Galakrond Rogue, but it's like -4 legendaries on the meta list (no Flik Skyshiv, Zilliax, Snip Snap, Leeroy. Sure, most of those are going to wild, but that will probably make the deck a lot less meta).

What I've been keeping a close eye on though is Shaman, worst class right now, underwhelming reveals up until now, did they get anything in the last hour to change their position...and yeah, I think so.

Not a card that is really knocking anyone's socks off, but just a card that is quietly pretty good for the cost and might add stability to Shaman's earlygame.

So it's got lower base stats in exchange for higher stats when you summon more microbots, and...I guess you can't give it divine shield out of the gate. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing for mech builds, since you were always forced into running Cobalt first. Now you can lead with your cleaves, deathrattles, and DS poppers. Typically you wasted one of your mech summons anyway. Now you just line it up to attack after your taunt dies. I *guess* it makes a difference for builds that bought a cobalt, played a single mech later, and then just left a 8/5 or 9/3 cobalt on the field, but were those really any worse than the 2/1 Divine Shield dragon?

Yeah thinking about it now this card really only needs a 2/2 buff to land on it for it to be BETTER than Cobalt. Sooo yeah I guess we'll see how it goes. Cards that refresh divine shield have the highest potential to be busted in battlegrounds I think. That new Murloc that refreshes divine shield is powerful and it's a 6 cost.

I think the fact that its weaker in the mid game and needs more setup is pretty big, you could just slot a 6/3 cobalt without a reset and still do pretty well through the mid game before transitioning to something else, you can

that said mechs needed a decent replacement otherwise it would be way too weak late game, think this works

If they want more unique mechanics then mechs should do something with spare parts in Battlegrounds. Instead of standard "give a mech +2/2" or the same buffs that every other class gets they could do "add a random spare part to your hand" instead. Since they're random they could be a little stronger than normal buffs. Tier 6 card could add a spare part at the start of every turn or something.

Probably don't dust it though, since you'd be exploiting a bug, and Blizzard tends to be a bit harsh about that. (And at least for me I dusted all my duplicates of living roots a while ago, so the dust gain from dusting living roots now into crafting it back as a common later would be like...120 dust profit assuming Blizzard doesn't just NOPE and subtract 200 dust from my account).

New Cobalt looks strong in mech comps, but weak in other comps. Starting with divine shield is a big deal in the early-midgame; sometimes you just had to go into battle with a non-divine shield 6/3, and that was bad. Sometimes you had to buy a mech you didn't really want and that was bad.

I hopped on my alt account I made a long time ago and hadn't been on for at least 2 years so I could play Battlegrounds with Emerald without destroying my rating, and it led me to play the Outland prologue first, for some reason. So if you wanna see the prologue a week early, there's your avenue, I guess.

Also, if you want to play against Demon Hunter early, you can totally do so by going to solo and practicing against the Innkeeper.

I rerolled a 50g into a 50g into a 50g, so maybe yeah. Did still get a 60g naturally today though, but still hoping I can reroll this 50g into a 60g.

Meanwhile, I did what I normally do at set rotation and manually disenchanted extra copies of cards going to wild. (I keep all my excess copies of everything in standard in case of nerfs and hall of fames, but very little gets nerfed in wild so I can get rid of all the extras all at once).

Messed up for one card, though--had a golden copy and 9+ non-golden copies. Disenchanted the non-golden copies first and was mashing the button, and apparently it lets you go down below 2 copies without warning you if you have golden copies. Whoops. Ended up disenchanting the golden copy anyway and re-crafting the non-golden copy cause that's still more dust in the bank (50 for disenchanting golden, 40 to craft non-golden), and I really hate having half-and-half golden/nongolden in my decks. Not really a big mistake or anything (a whole 35 dust I will never get back) but I'm still mad that I messed that up.

I don't like mixed decks either. I dust everything golden even if I don't have non-golden versions of the cards, and if I want the card that bad I'll use the dust from the golden copy to craft a regular one which I've done a few times before. The exceptions to this rule are the obviously undisenchantable basics which I would love to be able to get rid of even if I got no dust from it, and a golden Whizbang I made on a different region.

Waiting to disenchant cards is smarter, and I should probably do it since I've got something like 30,000 dust I'm not in a hurry to use anyway so it's not like I need it immediately, but I think the main reason I don't is similar to the above, where I just want to get rid of what I don't want/need and have it done with.

I used to just disenchant all my goldens (or goldens where I already had 2 copies). Because I tend to just make all non-golden decks for consistency. But what I realized was that if I have something in golden and then it gets nerfed? I make massive bank. Like...golden common that gets nerfed? 400 dust. That's like dusting a legendary, it's so much.

But the flip side is that if I literally never dust duplicates I also effectively miss out on a lot of dust.

Which......is why I compromise and wait for stuff to go to wild as my moment to dust duplicates.

I keep goldens only if it leads to other goldens. Some examples of ones I have are Lab Recruiter, Witching Hour, and Bronze Explorer. Lab Recruiter can give goldens of any minion!

Or some just look really cool, like Cabal Shadow Priest. And then I'm keeping Thalnos because he was my first ever golden legendary.
