Went something like 11-1 with Highlander Priest today. I know I only lost once. It is veeeeeeeery good against Demon Hunter. Funnily enough, my one loss was to a Leoroxx deck who copied two King Krushes in his hand and burst me down on turn 8. Living the meme dream.

Erase the space.

Had a game where I drew really poorly, so I took out some of the really low-impact stuff like the Invoke cards and put a bit more dragons in there to get some more early-game consistency with Cleric of Scales and Dragonmaw Sentinel. And then I put Ooze in because I only faced one hero that wasn't DH or Hunter and they all run weapons. I was really skeptical of how good Imprisoned Homunculus would be, but if you get him on turn one and have any kind of backup over the next few turns, he can really put in work.

If you don't have Skeletal Dragon, that really feels like a weak point at the moment, so I wouldn't worry about crafting it. Maybe shove an Evasive Wyrm in there instead. That said, in one game against a hunter, it did give me Amber Watcher when I was down to 7 health.

Actually, not true. The very first game I played today was against rogue and I won. None in the 33 games since.

They have all the "fun and interactive" of Priest except they don't suck.

Just had a Rogue play Zephrys on three consecutive turns against me, and there was nothing I could do to stop it. 2 Shadowsteps, and then a randomly generated spell from a randomly generated Lackey. I still managed to win because I drew literally the best hand possible with Big Druid, (which has been a lot of fun to play). Having 3 big, untargetable boys in play on turn 5 because you double ramped and hit the sidequest is real fun.

Thankfully, the Hearthstone gods are only so cruel, and they didn't gift me Al'ar in NA which is the only region that really matters to me. In fact, they blessed me with good pack luck in return for those two Al'ar by giving me four legendaries in 28 packs on NA.

They also changed the wording from "Whenever you play a card..." to "After you play a card..." which changed a bunch of interactions. Technically it was a nerf but don't expect to see any dust for that.

Also the 2/1s that gets summoned are demons now instead of neutral.

So theres two different demon hunter decks, a good aggroish one with solid tempo tools (Im wondering if the dormant card is too slow, as is the boulderfist avenging wrath) and what looks like an OTK with Kaelthas and the 8 mana face spell(especially if you get doomhammer off of zephyrs)

I tried Stealth Rogue and did ok on one offs of both decks? Grey heart is pretty nutty if you can Shadowstep it

Kayn and Maiev aren't core--in fact I don't see streamers running them at all for the most part. You have two 1 mana silences in the deck, you really don't need them.

Ugh, really? Yep, that's a killer. 3 would be fine. 2 is not.

On the subject of demon hunter, I played a bunch of it yesterday. The card draw is ridiculous, but that's just part of the classes identity. It burns through cards. And TBH, a lot of those cards are very low impact because they're so cheap. Against a decent control deck -- and I ran into a couple yesterday -- you lose to fatigue.

The question right now is what the best way to build a DH deck is...so that everyone else can decide what they need to counter. The strongest decks have early-game presence, but none of the token rush gimmickry. With the current meta, even Altruis doesn't always seem very good. He can lead to some highlight reel moments, but the rest of the time, you're just feeding him your entire hand to get maybe 5-6 damage. I'm not a big fan of Antaen, even though it does lead to big swings, because if you played any other 5 drop, you probably wouldn't need a swing because you'd still be ahead. And I have yet to land Priestess of Rage without her getting removed immediately, unless the game was already over.

Has anyone seen the "big" demon hunter package being run? I don't think anyone's even touching those cards right now, that I've seen. Regis put the 9/5 rush in his deck, but I didn't see anything unique on ladder.

I feel like Altruis is one of your big ways to come back on board so I disagree heavily with cutting him, plus the damage to the face helps.

I have yet to encounter zoo or token druid, but so far against anything else, DH just keeps the board clear except maybe against another DH. I did play a couple games as hunter where I was able to hold my own, but I was trading even until the late game.

I watched Muzzy play the deck last night (he's rank 1 legend with it) and the card seems absolutely nuts in the mirror. With the popularity of the deck that's the primary benefit. And you want to be playing the 4 mana 4/4 that reduces the next demon so you can curve into it on turn 5.

At high diamond he was seriously getting like 75% mirrors though. It's the aggro deck everyone is grinding with.

You really need to start following the Competitive HS subreddit. Most data trackers look at everything, so right now you'd think "omg dh unbeatable!". There are plenty of things that beat it, and if everyone is on the same thing and you angle shoot then it makes your climb even easier.

Assuming a similar winrate with both classes, it makes more sense to use the fast deck to climb. It's just unfortunate that the fast deck is much more boring than the slow deck.

The decklist is the one everyone else is using and decision making is kind of a moot point. I make the best decisions I can and let RNG take the wheel, as I'm sure you're familiar with.
