My sister works at a dinner theater which has to close until Ohio relaxes their restrictions. Very worried they wont be able to reopen if it goes to long ao she would be out of a job and unable to pay her mortgage.i imagine there are a lot of people going through this and it's going to lead to some "fun" new issues when evictions and unemployment skyrocket from this.

Even if you dont get sick you could have your life ruined.

This is precisely what I am worried about. I need this to not last indefinitely.

So remember when I said before that my goverment closed some works and services for 2 weeks and that would affect me and I would sit on my house and watch porn and play games for 2 weeks?
Turns out my boss had other plans so I work as I worked before just slightly less. Oh well. Guess I will watch porn and play games half the day instead.

It's a bit different to lose your job in a good economy. It is another to lose it when nowhere is going to be hiring due to the circumstances. Losing my job right now is basically a death knell.

Well, my state did it. All bars and restaurants are closing today, effective at 5 p.m. Yeah, if they're going this far, I'm just gonna go ahead and expect a full quarantine.

In the before time, a liquor store and a brewery near me each had fire sales on cases of certain craft beers. $40-$45 cases selling for $12.99-$14.99. I bought my... plentiful cases solely because of the deep discount, but it really feels like the beer gods were looking out for me now.

Responded to a 911 call the other day for a patient who just tested positive. Took all necessary precautions at the time as it was suspected given the symptoms but still feel like it's an inevitability that I get infected.

Well two guys on my husbands team are out with symptoms and hes been in close contact with them recently. If I get it I get it i guess. Heres hoping my son avoids it!

The goverment is being really stupid on this matter and are deliberately delaying the actions you guys and the major countries (Spain, Germany, France) are doing because they want to time it with the easter holidays for stuff like school closures.

My province is apparently handing down a labour law that businesses must provide 14 days of paid leave to employees for taking isolation leave. Also saying the businesses will be reimbursed for it so it's not a burden, just maybe a cash flow issue, for that business to do this. It's not clear how the province will actually fund this....

Anyway, this is an interesting problem to figure out accounting wise to deal with as an employer with hundreds of retail locations and a large head office that may all have employees that need to take this kind of leave. I guess instead of an expense I'll treat this as a receivable. I'll also need to figure out how to track this so that we can ask the govt to pay us back later....

I wish they would say what is non-essential business and what is essential business. I feel like my work is considered essential. It takes multiple weeks to close down a battery. It can't just be closed.

The update on that is the guy now says they will comply, and in response, he's shutting down three of the restaurants in order to purposely lay off employees.

I mean 95% of restaurants are going to shut down or lay off every server and bartender and most of their cooks. Only a handful of places are going to do enough takeout business to make rent, nonetheless pay people
