Remember that one topic that got derailed by foolmo and some other person about the merits/demerits of working remotely? Well, with a shit ton of white collar companies implementing mandatory work from home days now, I have a feeling we might be on the brink of a major systematic shift when this is all through.

I work at a really small company so it might not happen, but the surrounding area is probably going to be a major danger zone in a couple of weeks so who knows.

Freeways have been getting better by the day though, it's such a welcome reprieve.

I live in Chicago but luckily I already work from home. Our CEO sent out an email saying that our main office is adding more hand sanitizer and reminding people to cover their mouth when they sneeze.

That's about it!

My company has sent out a memo saying that if we suspect we are infected they'd like us to work from home

We'll see what happens when push comes to shove if it actually happens. Many people have work laptops that connect to a dock at work so they can take the laptop home and work remotely, but there's still a large portion of the office that has

I should really figure out how to connect my work laptop to my monitors at home.... I'm way less efficient at home when I don't have access to two extra monitors.

Yeah we're implementing some pretty interesting things like remote photoshoots and whatnot. This hysteria may actually change office culture pretty dramatically if the remote options are a success.

Scary times for me. I work at one of the best restaurants in the country but we are as slow as I've ever seen. Our price point is not conducive to weather this storm if guests are afraid to come in.

I'm figuring it out but damn, this might be a turning point in my life

I'd rather not say, but it's easy to figure out if you're aware of where I live.

It's tough right now for everyone in my industry. Top restauranteurs here had a meeting a few days ago to try and get ahead of it but I'm not sure what will come of it

We were awarded best new restaurant in the country a few years ago and have multiple james beard award nominations/wins!

It's a growing food city, and is on the cusp of entering that top tier (New York, Chicago, Miami, LA etc). Coronavirus is really crippling us right now though -(

We had two bars nominated this past year for best bar in the country! They lost though.

I work for a health care system which makes this time extra fun. we've been doing infrastructure planning for a week for how to handle thousands of people working remotely, basically everyone but people involved with direct patient care. we're also trying to stand up about a dozen new clinics on a super short time span (days) so we can redirect covid-19 people there instead of to our usual locations where regular patients go.

Hey! I'm in Atlanta too!

They haven't officially told us yet, but pretty sure I just taught my last face-to-face class of the semester today. Gonna have us do the rest of the class online. A bunch of us are paranoid that if we do too good a job they'll make more sections online-only next semester.

I work in the travel business. Crippling isn't a strong enough word. I'm working at a loss, because now days are spent cancelling trips and refunding what I can.

This is going to have a lasting effect on travel worldwide. If I were a young adult without any strings, I'd go travel right now. It's dirt cheap, and the chances are thin in the next month to catch the virus. Go live your life.

I live in Queens and usually commute to our Manhattan office 2-3 days a week, but have decided to cease that until this all blows over.

My workplace has been slowly but steadily sending broadcasts on telecommuting measures. We already had a two-day telecommute optional policy which they have now increased to heavily encouraged three days, and today they sent out another e-mail saying that those who have children or commute from far away can work from home full-time. It's not a huge deal for us since telecommuting is so common, but I've certainly been wondering how this will impact remote work policies in the future.
