They definitely meant 30 dollars for Sword and 30 dollars for Shield because they went out of their way to say that the expansion pass contains both Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra

This looks like enough to convince me to actually buy the base game now, ~600 is much more reasonable to me than 400, especially when Volcarona is one of them

It's not. The entire Expansion Pass is worth $30. That currently works out to a price of $15 for each DLC, assuming of course there won't be any extra DLC after those 2 DLC packs. The option is still open for even more DLC after this.

And honestly, I'm surprised they didn't leave in data for the unused Pokmon in this, considering that Let's Go had everything but the models and they never had any intention of bringing the non-Kanto Pokmon to it.

As an added bonus, you won't have to play through the game again, which you would have to do if Game Freak decided to release a third version (or pair of sequels) to expand upon the original games. Being able to continue your progress from your already existing save file is nice.

Some good stuff here, I'm into it. I kinda didn't mind having a third version - I'm an utter slave to the franchise and I love the "process" of playing through these games - but I definitely want to give this a shot

Anyway yeah okay I guess I'm hyped again, lol. Theoretically these two islands should be more complete experiences than what the main story was, so I'm looking forward to them. New Galarians and new Pokemon is cool too, and hopefully there will be more new ones than what they just showed. Aside from Galarian Legendary Birds, it looked like new Electric and Dragon Regis. Shield gets superior Slowking and stays best version.

They said additional battle challenges after completing both islands, so who knows, maybe there's even a Battle Frontier equivalent too.

Oh yeah, and I guess Rescue Team remake is cool. Looking forward to seeing if there's anything new, but why oh why does it have to release so close to Animal Crossing?!

This is definitely what people mean when they say "They're just going to complain anyway."

There's not really much to complain about, here. You can transfer/trade for the Pokemon without paying a cent for the DLC, so it's not like they're forcing you to buy anything. And unlike previous games where if there was a new Pokemon or form in the third game and you HAD to buy the third game for it, you can just trade for those, too.

This is a step up in pretty much every way.

The fact that we're getting new Pokemon is bad news for Steiner's Board 8 Ranks the Gen 8 ranking project. Before the direct, Steiner was planning to start the project on May 24th. But if the DLC is going to introduce a substantial amount of new Gen 8 Pokemon, you wouldn't want them to be excluded from the project. USUM may have only introduced 5 new Pokemon, but we already know of 10 new Pokemon that are confirmed for the Sword/Shield DLC (including Galarian Forms). This includes the new Electric and Dragon Regis which we've only seen the artwork for, along with Galarian Slowbro/Slowking which haven't been shown yet but are implied to exist based on the reveal of Galarian Slowpoke.

It's hard to imagine that there won't be even more new Pokemon introduced in the DLC based on the very few amount of Pokemon that were revealed in the base game before release. I think the DLC is going to have a lot more Pokemon that we won't know about until the DLC releases.

Unfortunately, Steiner still isn't backing down on his plan to begin the ranking project on May 24th.

Well when you look at Sw/Sh prerelease, it was mostly Gen I forms but then the games came out and there were a solid handful of non-Gen I. Hopefully they're doing the same this time. And more cross-gen evos dammit.

Also possibly the best news is the Sinnoh remakes presumably get to bake in the oven for an extra year and will maybe not be rush jobs.

Looks neat, but guess I shouldve predicted some more Galar Gen 1s on top of the Gen 1 G-max -__- Really would love to see some other Gens getting attention for these kinda things.

They're not going to skip two years without a new $60 release, so what else are they going to do for 2021? Another Galar game seems unlikely as does starting Gen IX so soon.

Seems like a solid enough expansion, better than a new version.

Seing wild takes of people complaining about the expansions adding up to $60, people calling them out for thinking the passes were $30 each and not total, only for the reply to be "No, I have to spend $60 because I have to get it for both versions".

Who the fuck buys both versions of Pokemon?? You really don't get to make any complaints if you already spent $120 on the same exact game twice for two different gym leaders.

This is definitely a good move for Gamefreak, but I'm baffled why they didn't just say they would add more old Pokemon through patches when people were demanding that. In fact, they actively denied it. It would have saved them so much negative publicity.

Because they aren't going to cave to public outcry. It's smart business, the games are highly popular.

Dark/Fire or Ghost/Fire Moltres, Ground/Electric or Dragon/Electric Zapdos, and I don't even know about Articuno. Psychic/Ice? Dark/Ice? Ghost/Ice?

Alternatively maybe they get a new ability that gives them a third STAB like Dhelmise's Steelworker. Like an updated Levitate that gives them Flying STAB in addition to Ground immunity.

yeah i think this looks pretty rad in general and i'm totally down with more legendary pokemon but i'm a bit skeptical of them barfing all the old legendaries together in part 2. i guess we'll see how that actually works out functionally when we get there

im guessing Articuno is psychic, Moltres is dark, and Zapdos is fighting.

I hate the "You can just trade for them" argument. Unless the GTS is coming with the DLC, getting 200+ Pokmon through trading is going to be a huge pain.

It wont be that big a pain if you have a good friend. As many players as we have here that will get it you could probably get all of them other than maybe legendaries within a week of release

Is Home not going to have transfer capability from Bank by the time the DLC is out or are people really just committed to filling out the Pokedex again manually in the new games?
