I'm from Portugal and here we do love our bread. We have many types of bread and I just love almost all of them.

However, we also have amazing dishes that include meat, that I really love.

But honestly, I think it would be harder for me to give up on bread.

How about you guys? What is your favourite type of food, that would be harder for you to give up on?

BREAD IS AMAZING!

While I want to say bread, its hard because one of my three favorite foods is pizza. But, I normally have meat as a topping on my pizza. So, if I have up meat, all I would have in cheese pizza. Which is ok. But not something I eat often anymore. Though, that was all I ate as a kid. Maybe bread, because I can always make a pizza and either put it on something else, and just eat it off a plate or something. Ive done similar before...

I love bread based foods, but I went keto for a while and after a bit without it, it's not hard to keep avoiding bread. Meat is also great and I thought about trying a vegan diet, because I do have a lot of problems with the meat industry, but in the end I can't eat enough veggies to drop meat. I just can't stand that veggie texture.

So between the two I would drop bread easily.

I miss bread daily. I started a Keto diet 8 months ago, and I manage a chain of bakeries. Tough to be around all those fresh baked goods all the time and can't have any. On the plus side I am down to 180lbs, from 245. On that note, if weight loss wasn't an issue, I would give up meat for bread easily.

Cheese and tomato on toast or bread strips in a thick sauce.

Its one of the worst things for you if youre trying to lose weight. Meats have protein so Id keep meat and ditch bread if I had to.

I found a loaf of "stuffing" bread. You're supposed to use it to make stuffing for Thanksgiving. It's got all the herbs and spices and stuff baked in, but I tried a slice of it plain and it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good. Then I tried using it to make toast with butter. *foodgasm*

I need to get a package of turkey lunch meat and try making a sandwich.

I'd rather give up living rather than live without eating meat or bread.

I'd be perfectly fine if we ever invented nutrient pills that give 100% of necessary life-giving nutrients and completely removed the sensation of hunger, but as long as we're still stuck eating food, meat and carbs are going to be a large part of my diet.

If you just mean bread (ie, loafs, buns, etc), I'd miss it a little, but there's no way I could forgo meat which comprises a lot more.

I can't decide, to be honest. Po de Milho (or as we call it Broa de Milho) is very good, but I only like it when it's not too sweet.

Po de gua is also great. We also have a bread made of carob (Po de Alfarroba) which is more typical on the southern part of Portugal, and it's (you guessed it) very good.

It's a tough choice to pick a favourite, I just love bread in general :D

I've never really been a huge fan of bread, though I do like tiger bread. (I don't consider pastry as the same thing, FWIW.) But I've often been known to eat a burger and leave the bun if given one. I much prefer meat.

French Dip is also a favorite, as are Hot Beef Sandwiches. Bacon Cheeseburgers. Submarine Sandwiches. Philly Cheesesteak. Tuna salad on toast. Ham salad on a bun. Biscuits and sausage gravy. Reuben sandwich. Gyros.

And I want meat on my pizza, either pepperoni, sausaage, Canadian bacon, ham, or BBQ beef.

Let's not forget trenchers, which predated plates. Meat and bread together are traditional.

So, no, I won't give up a thing.

I have a shellfish allergy. Which is kind of bad. Mainly because Im from MD, where shellfish is pretty big...

bread can be easily replaced with rice, noodle, tortilla, cereal, cakes, steamed buns (mantou), etc.

otoh people would kill (literally) for chicken sandwich or fried chicken.
