you don't win doing business with China, you can't own business in China, you have to share it with a partner company owned by the CCP. the only growth that happens is for their companies while the CCP dangles the 1.4 billion population number in front of you making you think you can grow your marketshare when the growth are all made up numbers because 90% of the country is dirt poor

What exactly were they doing at that time to earn that kind of condemnation?

The pivot to all wow all the time. I mean blizzards decline really started before 06/07, but there was still a chance for recovery. Warcraft 3 had amazing custom maps despite a meh campaign (tft didnt even have a legit orc one, but war3 and tfts storylines were ok but still tolerable), and a broken hero system. We were getting a new title or significant expansion from like 1995 to 2004 with maybe 1 year where nothing major happened (i think brood war was dec 98 for example, while vanilla sc was summer 98 if i recall. 1999 blizzard didnt do much im pretty sure).

By 07/08 wow was already seeing the problems that plague the game today: everything is mapped out online, "game doesnt REALLY begin until max level bra" statements which is really shitty game design, etc. Blizzard is lucky that people have invested so much time into wow even by 07/08 that people didnt want to cancel their subs because they dony want to psychologically admit years of their life were for mostly nothing.

From a business (and more impprtant standpoint perhaps) i believe the activision blizzard merge was being discussed throughout 2007 and happened in 08. That was officially when blizzard went to shit. Been riding their repuation for years now (and because the industry sucks as a whole)

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply anything with my comment. I'm not a fan of Kibler by any means, but I think the statement is about as close to perfect as one could get. By "going hard", I should have said I was rather surprised he'd resign his casting position. But it's a solid move, showing a modicum of sacrifice on his part in disagreement with the heavy-handedness that Blizz displayed.

Also, I think his closing to the statement is perhaps the most important part; other people (casters, streamers, GMs, Blizzard regular-Joe employees, etc) aren't in the position he is to step away, and they shouldn't become the target of anger and frustration.

Also on the NBA thing, small portions of the internet are propogating the idea that any political messaging(ie, MAGA hats) getting you kicked out of a venue is normal.

I can tell you this is absolutely not the case and you are normally free to express yourself in any way that is not offensive(use of foul language, offensive terms, overt racist messaging, etc). A MAGA hat is not enough for removal from a venue.

To be clear, I wasn't saying that's what I thought it was, that was the reason the team themselves gave regarding the ejections. Certainly the optics point to the team just being like "no HK ever" but given that we weren't there to see the exact instance, I think there is at least a possibility that the people were being over the top about it and maybe surrounding patrons complained. Yelling certainly can be disrupting the fan experience depending on the context. Cheering or booing during action is one thing, but if the ball's just like, being brought up the court or something, and these people are repeatedly shouting this thing that has nothing to do with the game, I wouldn't be surprised if it got on people's nerves.

Making a strong stance against bowing to pressure and then immediately bowing to pressure is about 1000 times worse than just saying nothing at all so I would be pretty shocked if that happened.

Remember, Blizzard games are kind-of big in places like South Korea. Australia and New Zealand tend to get lumped under Asia too (same server and all that).
