That being said, shes a pretty experimental artist in a lot of ways. Its technically still pop music i guess, but usually incorporates some other style - jazz, gospel, punk, soul, etc. The Electric Lady would be the album with the sci-fi vibes, though I prefer the newer album Dirty Computer (which both Americans and I Like That are from). You probably already know this, but this isn't exactly an unpopular song to cover. It's almost indisputably the most popular song from Kanzaki Iori (who nowadays is Kaf's producer) and even among vtubers there are at least 20 different covers out there with over 100k views and high praise. So me picking this one was a rather biased decision to say the least, but also pretty justifiable I feel? She's pretty great at changing pitch and this cover specifically reflected that really well. Also it was the first cover she uploaded after I subscribed to her channel, so there was that too. At the time, she only had around 90 subs, and I only found her because she had just been added to the newcomer category on a tracker website. Even when I nominated it though, she was still only sitting around 370ish though. Since then, she got really fortunate to arrange an exclusive collab game stream with Fukuyamaster (who, I dunno if you've noticed, but he has around 86k subs so he's basically worlds apart) and a couple of others. Even that ended up demonstrating how humble her basic channel was, as they spent around 20 minutes having to figure out who was causing echo to come through on their discord call. But anyway yeah thanks to that, and also a submission to a song cover contest hosted by some other major vtubers, her channel has grown by about 200 subs since then, which is a minor miracle. Oh yes, she's also still active on REALITY itself. Generally her streams on there garner up to 60 viewers, which really isn't too shabby for an unknown platform with maybe 3k users. It's actually a really easy to use platform. Simply having the app means making an avatar for yourself and then you can just stream with that, so it's easy to see why it's used, even if the streams aren't archived in any capacity. It also means most of her fans are virtual streamers themselves. Technically even I am now that I tested it, even if nobody watched. Due to how basic it is though, "streams" generally amount to glorified one-way skype calls, though viewers get to mess around by sending gifts (cosmetics) on stream. Ruri really embraces a lot of this stuff in pretty fun ways. People might put a moustache on her and she'll talk or sing in a low pitch until it wears off a few minutes later. Stuff like that. Did any episodes go into his backstory? And is that backstory also best summed up as "he was given the magical shoes"? And if so, who gave them to him and where did they get them?
