That comment summed it up for me

Assuming this is real, how did he know when she had her appointment? Was he stalking her? Does he not give a shit about what shes going through? Does he think he can control her with his drama?

Drama seems fake though, to make a video. If real, it's manipulative and stupid as fuck and the guy is an idiot.

Anyway ignoring that video and going into a more blank vague statement, it's the woman's decision. Not the mans, he's not carrying the baby.

I get that it might sting but you can't say "It's up to me to decide that you against your will carry a fetus inside you for 9 months and endure the risks involved"

Simple fact of biology, it's her body

Pro and anti abortion arguments make me disgusted with humanity.

The lengths people go to justify abortion and move goal posts is disturbing and those who force guilt on those who do choose to have one are just all terrible human beings.

"Its a parasite!" As medically correct as you want to be, it's still pretty jarring to call a fetus a parasite just cause of your stance.

I mean. Anything that requires a host to survive could be labeled a parasite.

The fetus requires the womb and the mother to grow and survive. So it's a technicality if anything.

Seriously, calling a fetus a parasite and thinking mostly negatively of it, despite it not invading your body completely on it's own, is thinking the exact same of yourself and everyone else, regardless if you love or hate them. I get that some women have been unfortunate and gotten pregnant via rape, etc. and they should have the final choice since it is their body IMO, but don't curse the fetus / baby as if it just wanted to ruin your life. It didn't will itself into existence on it's own.

While I understand the fathers strife, women have substantially more of a say (and responsibility) than men when it comes to bearing children. Until we can just take the fetus out and place it into an artificial womb or some shit, men need to suck it up

I only really believe in abortion in cases of incest or rape. Clearly isn't the case here. Feel bad for the dude.

Hopefully he'll be done with her. Would probably be a waste of time to try to make things work. He'll most likely always resent her for this.

Using abortion as a form of BC is a major problem that needs to be addressed.

It's pretty unsettling that individuals just say, "nah its alright. Bust a load in me. I'll just get an abortion if anything."

Just...wat.

And the fact that an individual can blame one party for a pregnancy is mind boggling. "It was HIS sperm that invaded her body."

Stfu. Girl wanted the dick, dude wanted the clam. They're both irresponsible.

Agreed. If the pregnancy was accidental and unwanted, it's her choice, but she should still try to be empathetic and try to console him if possible. But if she knew what she was signing up for and gave him her word and then got cold feet for a lame selfish reason and backed out at the last minute, while it's still her choice, she is in the wrong and should at least apologise and explain herself. Even if he doesn't accept at least try and comfort him and give him closure so he can possibly forgive or at least move past the pain.

you think women just have abortions as an alternative to other forms of birth control, when they can be costly, and from what I've heard, can often be uncomfortable/painful?

and girls/women can still get pregnant after both partners have used BC

The point is that it's still the womans decision, it's her body.

No it isnt

Yes it is.

Because allowing abortion to be the primary form of BC just breeds more irresponsibility.

Also, every time a woman gets an abortion they accrue permanent damage to their uterus. Scar tissue and the like which leads to potential complications in the future. And if they ever decide to have children their chances of having miscarriage or stillborn grow.

Also, disclosure. I'm not anti abortion. But we shouldnt be promoting it as the primary alternative to unwanted pregnancies or as a baseline for contraception.

My wife brought her friend to at least 2 clinics for two seperate abortions.

Given how impressionable people can be. You dont think there are many women out there who view abortion as an easy out?

And that as the stigma of abortion decreases many more younger women would grow up seeing it as a normal procedure with no consequences?

I wouldn't cry outside the clinic, I'd be inside with her if it came to that.

My wife and I had a pregnancy scare several months ago. I asked her what she wanted to do and she told me this isn't something she can decide by herself. That it wasn't just her in this and it wasn't just me, but both of us together. So we talked about it all day. I suggested we wait until we see a doctor before we decide anything and she agreed. We find out she's not pregnant but we talked again about what to do. We both ultimately came to the decision that I'd get a vasectomy and she'd get her tubes tied.

Not really relevant to this situation but just thought I'd share.

You may not be advocating, but you're definitely seeking out justification for the behavior of those who would strip away that autonomy. And with that last quote you're helping push this narrative that abortion is the "primary form" of birth control, which is just straight up wrong.

Primary? Nah, but it could be a repeated go to option for the morally bankrupt if it isn't carefully monitored and regulated. I'm still pro choice and believe it should be her choice, but some people need to take responsibility and take accountability for their actions.

Fathers have no say when they want to keep the child but also have no say when the government tells them to pay for it

It's weird logic

You may not be advocating, but you're definitely seeking out justification for the behavior of those who would strip away that autonomy. And with that last quote you're helping push this narrative that abortion is the "primary form" of birth control, which is just straight up wrong.

Primary? Nah, but it could be a repeated go to option for the morally bankrupt if it isn't carefully monitored and regulated. I'm still pro choice and believe it should be her choice, but some people need to take responsibility and take accountability for their actions.

It's been pretty free since Roe v Wade and hasn't devolved into this world of 'abortion first', and at least in the US, we're going back the opposite direction in terms of legislation. The problem here is punishing those who abuse abortion without also inadvertently punishing those who see it as a difficult decision and face the emotional ramifications.

Pro-tip: no one WANTS to have a fucking abortion.

it sucks.

things don't happen the way some people here imagine that they do (i.e. people who have never had kids or a relationship with someone who was pregnant at any point).

People don't like to have abortions and there are a million more pleasant forms of BC. Abortions are terrible and no one does them as a first choice. (Almost) no one just gets an abortion willy-nilly because it's convenience, because it's not a fun process.
