It was confirmed for 2019 during the conference but they have now said November. Plus Sega is publishing so I guess not.

Maybe December is empty this year with the Animal Crossing delay. Or maybe they announce a port or something later this year.

Could be wrong, but I think it was at least speculated to be in. The previous game Echoes had a similar mechanic with Mila's Turnwheel.

Also, yeah, while I was cautiously optimistic about the changes they were bringing in Three Houses from the start, I really liked what I saw in this demo at least.

Last 24 hours have been interesting. You've got the Fire Emblem fans, notorious for supposedly hating their own series, overwhelmingly optimistic about 3H. And then you've got the Pokemon fans who, for the most part, love basically everything about the series, completely turning on it Sword and Shield overnight.

For the record, I am 100% on board with both reactions, I just think it's amusing to an extent as well.

I think the thing some of them are excited about with Three Houses is the Treehouse or whatever confirming no baby making, but FE fans are a difficult bunch. Lots of them hate what Awakening turned the series into

I am one of those fans, yes.

I don't know that there's any one thing that's made the difference. It's a big combination of the implications of the time skip in general and that it's bringing better looking character designs, the overall look of the game being more finely tuned, no kid characters, the depth of all the customization in the school section, a few maps being shown off that look promising, the story feeling sort of gritty, a much needed retooling of the weapon system, and probably a few other things I'm forgetting.

One of my biggest gripes with the character designs has been how samey everyone looks due to the school uniforms. Do they actually have unique designs after the skip?

We haven't seen many, if any, post-skip designs from the students outside of the lords, but those three look very different, and the other students from what I could tell in the Treehouse start looking more unique as soon as reclassing happens at the school.

I've only played the 3DS Fire Emblem games but as someone who obsesses over min/maxing and having the best characters possible, no kid characters seems like a whole lot of stress removed. I'm on board.

I really enjoyed FE7 & 8 on the GBA, but reaaaaaalllllly didn't care for Fates. I trudged through Birthright and then tried to beat Conquest but gave up. Awful story, awful writing, characters were totally whatever. Even though I knew Conquest was the tougher game I decided to start with Birthright to have the difficulty ramp up instead of down, but in the end I didn't have any motivation to move forward. I also wasn't a fan of the fortress building hub.

That said this game looks a bit more appealing. :>

But I fear the story will be terrible again. Despite having a good concept with 3 different factions, the possibility to be dynamic is there -- I just fear it's gonna be soooo shallow. With dopey character interactions.

Gah, Fates is one of my least favorite games.

Yeah, not sure if it was via the Famitsu info or something else, but that was known. Not sure if we knew the extent (as in if there was a turn limit) before, but the mechanic - yeah.

Three Houses looking better and better. I'm glad.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Nintendo haven't published a new (ie not a rerelease) 3DS game since WarioWare Gold almost a year ago, and even that had a lot of redone cobtent. That system is done in terms of Nintendo games.

same and im not even sure why, except the school setting being a little off putting

maybe just because Fates left so little impression on me. As much as I liked Awakening, I think I preferred the way the games were before it. Just seems like theres a lot of bloat getting in the way of my turn based strategy now.

but I havent paid a lot of attention to news about this one... maybe itll come out and be awesome and Ill buy it soon after

You have to manually give units battalions (after paying for them), so it might be entirely possible to simply never use them.

Nothing too jaw-dropping, but it shows off how the battalions look and some of the class/costume variety among students, not to mention some pretty nice music. And also at least one instance of a player unit missing with a 90 hit, just in case anyone was still thinking it's not a real Fire Emblem.

Three Houses doesn't look amazing but it looks a lot better than it did before the direct. Fire Emblem is never going to be as good as it was in the Tellius phase, or even the GBA phase, but I've come to terms with that a while back. Just have to take it for what it is.

A look at one of the support menus(specifically the Blue Lions). Also, it seems exp has changed. Instead of the 100 for every level, it seems now the exp needed changes with more levels. Hell, the pic says 133 exp needed.
