MATCH 1

Really strong match here! I really like both songs a lot. That accordion melody in Chloe starting at 0:15 is just so good. And, of course, the rest of the song is very good too. I also like the melody in Raging Spirits a lot as well as the backing instruments. I have a stronger reaction to Chloe than I do to Raging Spirits, so sadly, I have to vote against Raging Spirits here. These two are definitely my favorites today and honestly, now that I look at it, these might be my top two out of all the round 3 songs in Bracket A as well! Sad to see one of them go, but I'm definitely voting for the winner of this match again in its round 4 match.

MATCH 2

I've warmed up to Maze Cave a lot more since I first heard it, but Life Will Change is my clear favorite in this match. I'm pretty fond of the vocal songs from Persona 5 that I've listened to, including this one, and Maze Cave just doesn't pull me in enough to beat Life Will Change in my eyes.

Chloe I feel I should like more, but it's another one of those "two minute rhythm tracks" that gets cut short as soon as it gets good. Raging Spirits is repetitive, but interesting.

Chloe is a song that, similar to Recollections, has elements I would normally like in a somewhat uninspiring package. I like Chloe much more than Recollections, but it has a feel of also-ran to it, like backwash from orange juice. Raging Spirits grew on me considerably since round 1, and I enjoy its determined odd time more than I enjoy Chloe's. It feels more willing to step outside its box.

If you had asked me during round 1 if this would be a competitive match for me, I would have laughed. But I've warmed up so much to Maze Cave that I'd consider it one of my favorite new discoveries (though I would still vote Bomber Girl over it). Life Will Change has had an opposite trajectory: when I first it, it was top tier, and now I still like it, but a bit less. Maze Cave has so much going for it and it creates this amazing atmosphere of parting the fog and exploring. But Life Will Change has so much energy, a pulsation it generates from the first seconds and never lets go of. Tough match, but my vote is clear.

Chloe is just so generic. This is a pretty easy match.

This second match is kind of easy, too. I thought it might be a tough decision before Life Will Change's vocals kicked in.

Average day, relatively speaking (Round 3), but not bad.

Match 1:

Pretty close match, but going with Chloe here. Both songs sound stylishly similar. Even then, Chloe is a little too short and Raging Spirits goes on for too long with the starting weak violins, although the low-key piano part that comes afterwards is pretty nice and deep.

Match 2:

Maze Cave, beach-sounding as last round; adventurous, as well; but lacks more interesting things. Life Will Change may be too 70's and Whitney Houston-esque (maybe Donna Summer-esque? Can't remember her style right now) for my taste, but it has a catchy tune that keeps it fresh.
