Anime in the 90s had a good return to what made those 70s robot shows work. Looking at the more recent resurgence, with Go Nagai's and Gundam's anniversaries, and their 00s predecessors...I dunno. I think the necessity of current industry trends, that "this has to turn profit" perspective, kind of have mistreated that rough 70s spirit. But really, that's the life cycle of media. As technology improves and content becomes easier to make, there's always that shift from art or craft to product. Eventually people get sick of it; then we'll likely see some good stuff again. Calwings 05/05/19 12:37:28 PM #273:	Five episodes into my Princess Principal dub re-watch. I'm starting to warm up to Beatrice's voice, and both Dorothy and Chise sounded pretty good. In particular, I liked how Chise's English voice had a bit of a Japanese accent in it, because it makes perfect sense that someone who came from Japan and learned English as a second language would have such an accent. It may not sound as appealing, but it fits the setting and her character a lot better. On top of that, the Japanese soldiers involved in the assassination attempt in the fifth episode were all left with their original voices (plus subtitles) because it makes perfect sense that assassins invading from Japan wouldn't be speaking English. That's the first time I've ever seen an English dub leave lines from the original Japanese version untranslated for an in-universe reason, and I think it made the episode even better.
