I looked up the news story there. First of all he was her boyfriend when she was like 14 and she's early 20s now so it wasn't super recent, but still crazy. But anyway apparently he claims the victim stole from him (which as we all know makes it ok) and locked him in the car, blew his head off and then wrapped him up in plastic and threw him in the trunk. That's some seriously premeditated shit.

Oh by the way I actually did kind of get into it with the hardcore republican 12 year old but I didn't mean to. I was talking about the government shutdown with my uncle and the uncle saw the boy and started behaving trollishly towards him like oh isn't that funny how deficit spending is actually going up under a republican and the kid starts following me around as I'm trying to remove myself going "it was Bush's job to bail out the banks and Obama didn't pay it off! We have a deficit because Obama didn't pay it off!" I was relieved the take was so weird and stupid on its face that I didn't even really get mad. Then my grandma literally called me an internet troll (she's not really wrong but she was using the phrase incorrectly) because she saw me comment about the first George Bush being a not good guy. She goes "you know if you hate white men from wealthy families who went to prep school that's your grandfather." That one actually did piss me off. It's too bad no one tweeted any articles about how to deal with trump supporting family members this holiday season

I have reached the moment where I become depressed that I have to work tomorrow. How many of you lucky SOBs are getting at least one more day off

I have been battling a nasty cold (sinus infection, dying?) since Thursday, so I keep thinking I am going to call out when I wake up because I'm not near 100%. I'll probably work :(

Yeah I'm depressed too. Working tomorrow club.

Today's only political thing was I asked my army cousin to show me his guns. I'm anti gun but hell you can't deny that guns are interesting. I won't get into our mild good natured debate but I wanted to ask, have any of you guys ever used a real live gun? I didn't shoot them but he showed me how to check if there was a bullet in the chamber on a handgun. I also held and aimed down the sights of his massive like assault rifle. Good God those things are huge. I didn't bother asking why he thought he needed one that size but now I wish I had. I mean I'm sure he spent an obscene amount of money on it. Anyway I've now held three guns (third being my uncle's hunting rifle) but never shot one

I'm also anti gun (would never get one for myself) but yes they are interesting.
I took a firearms safety course when I was 14 and shot 5 or so different kinds of guns and learned about cleaning and handling and stuff. It still says "firearm safety certification" on my driver's license.

I've also been trap shooting a few times.. that was actually pretty fun. My dad has hunting rifles and shotguns locked up somewhere. He pretty much never hunts but we've taken them in the woods and shot targets a couple times.

I have a friend who has a couple handguns and an AR like your cousin. We didn't shoot any but he showed them to me and I held them and stuff. He also showed me this gun he inherited from his grandpa, which was really cool. His grandpa took it off of a japanese soldier in WW2. It looked like this

That is a cool gun. It was surreal holding those guns too, just hanging out in his parents' house ive been inside 100 times putting guns down on their bed and stuff. Even though I knew they were real they just seemed like toys until I held them, maybe because I associate the house and him with my childhood and maybe I still see him as my little cousin though he's grown now.

He does go to the range and stuff. Maybe that's why. And maybe standard gear in the army sucks but he can use the good stuff if he has it.

Have they always had guns? If so were they kept hidden. I remember seeing my uncle's rifle cabinet in my cousin's basement as a kid. They're pretty redneck though. They have like 4 mounted buck heads and a bunch of mounted fish

Maybe Red Dead started this, but I have a weird urge to shoot a revolver. I've held one and spun the cylinder, which was strangely satisfying

I don't know if his parents have guns. As far as I know they don't and to see these I kind of had to coax it out of him that he had guns in the house (he was clearly concerned that I was going to rip him a new one for owning guns). Like it eventually went

The hunting rifle was from a different uncle. I was just getting a beer in the garage with my non gamefaqs brother one day and he went "cool! A gun!" So we took pics holding the gun that day and then told his wife he left his gun out. He's pretty country but also sort of fake country in that he's also a rich liberal.

The 13 year old Republican and I had this interaction today:

Him: I saw this meme. Do you know Ted Cruz?
Me: (quietly) yes.
Him: so it was a picture of his face on top of the guy from Red Dead Redemption 2. And it said Red Ted Redemption.

I hadn't used Ashe until then but I was kicking so much ass with her. I main Reaper but I aspire to main McCree, she kind of feels like splitting the difference

The most outwardly interesting thing I got was the PS VR. Otherwise just clothes and some games like you. Brian got me Vampyr which I'm very intrigued by. Then I mentioned Black Ops IIII already. I haven't touched any new games yet. I also got shoes that were so humongous that I had to give them back to my mom in shame

I got 0 video game related stuff but got some nice clothes and shoes and a new jacket and stuff.

This is unreasonable of me, but if I see someone grocery shopping with headphones in (especially those wireless apple earbuds) I immediately judge them.

There was this temp at work who I never worked with personally, but he wore those earbuds all day even when he was talking to people and not listening to any music. It bugged me for some reason

Oh I did actually get some wireless headphones, way nicer than I need or would ever buy for myself from my other brother and his wife. They retail for $150 but he got some deal apparently

I got a lot of stuff. I don't know why my parents spoiled me so much.The only gaming thing was the PS4 platinum headset. And one of my friends got me a PS4 Pro since he's moving away and he wanted to get me one last thing as a thanks for the friendship type of thing I guess.

Oh yeah, I also got Sharks tickets that are really good seats and a Kane jersey to wear at the game.

You must be one hell of a friend to get a damn PS4 from him!

Do you guys ever get jolted awake by your dreams? I have a thing happen to me fairly often and it just happened again. I'll be like mostly asleep and in the beginning stages of a dream but my subconscious will shock me and wake me up. Like just now I was walking in my dream and I took a step into a deep pit and now I'm up and wired again.

I guess that post was kind of a long walk for what it was, but I already wrote it.

Yeah you man like when you're half asleep? I wouldn't say "deep pit" but the most common one seems to be the sensation when you walk off a stair or curb that you didn't realize was there.

Deep sleep dreams can wake me up too though they aren't usually as jolty

Not often but it happens. Sometimes they'd jolt me awake like that and I'd feel wide awake after and sometimes my heart would be pounding. It happened more often when I took melatonin but I quit that stuff. Dreams were too vivid and intense and sometimes not in a good way

Melatonin dreams themselves were usually okay for me, but I'd feel like I was waking up and falling back asleep from dreams like every 20 minutes which was annoying

This was sort of my experience with melatonin, just really long involved dreams that I'd wake up from at 12:45 thinking I'd been asleep for hours

Yeah my heart is always pounding when it happens too. It's pretty annoying but I guess it beats the crazy stress dreams I used to get. I would always get the ones about like forgetting to do your homework or whatever.

You know how you sometimes transition from one dream to another? Whenever one dream starts winding down and before it transitions into something else, I become aware I'm dreaming and it's really annoying because it kicks me awake.I think I wake up between 5-15 times every night and I feel like crap all day.

Huh, after reading your posts about melatonin, that's what sleeping feels like to me. Deep, long-feeling dreams that have me waking up every hour.

I used to wake up that many times a night too. I bought a new bed and mattress within this past year though and that helped my sleep a lot. But it's still not perfect obviously.

I used to have some trouble sleeping, but a couple things that helped were setting a timer for a blue light filter on my phone and computer, and adjusting my work schedule so I can go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day.

I don't sleep well and I was never able to take naps. I needed that melatonin very badly when I used to take it because I was struggling to sleep for even like four hours in that situation. I weaned myself off of it eventually because I could tell I was developing a need for it and that's no good. Now I don't take anything and I hope I can get at least 6 hours each night and then I get really mad at myself when I'm up past 11:30 for no reason because i know that even if I start the getting ready for bed process at 11:30 I probably won't fall asleep until 12:30

Twins got Nelson Cruz. Some day he will probably not be good anymore but until that day comes you gotta be excited to have him. He's a cool huge dude who hits bombs

A guy on a 1 year deal...what could go wrong. Looking at wikipedia quick it seems like he's better than someone like Logan Morrison though. The Twins have a bunch of money off the books this year mostly because of Mauer and everyone things they were going to do mostly nothing and get even cheaper, as if that were possible

He signed a four year deal with Seattle and no one hit more home runs over that time. He's good. But yes this is a meh move for the Twins in that it won't put them over the top but can help them get to that wonderful standard level of play so many teams strive for so that they can decide in July if they're good enough to make a trade
