Thanks and happy birthday to Skynyrd as well. I have Smash now. Man, you don't start with very many characters. They unlock pretty fast, but I'm getting a bunch of old guys. I just wanna try Simon/Richter!

Also I do have to admit the items get pretty annoying. You have to understand my idea of Smash is mainly formed by 64 and Melee, as I've basically played each game in the series less the newer it is. The "normal" item rate in Ultimate feels like High or Very High in the older games. And assist trophies/Smash balls are major contributors in the annoyance factor (I've played Brawl/4, but I guess I forgot how annoying they are).

Do you guys use GC controllers? I haven't played Smash with a Cube controller in a long time but I was still occasionally pressing the wrong button as if my pro controller had a GC layout. Maybe I should get an adapter but I bet they're overpriced and wires suck

I use a GameCube controller. It's amazing.

I use the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. If you don't use this controller, you're not a Pro Gamer.

I use GameCube because I'm a power player. The pro controller is solid though

Hot video game take: Raichu is cuter than Pikachu

Hmm. Raichu is very cute but you might just be sick of Pikachu because you've seen it so much over the years. Pikachu is still pretty damn cute. Especially so in let's go pikachu where you can play party cake with it.

I only use the Power Glove when I play Smash

And I think Pikachu's cuteness is overrated but it's still cuter than Raichu

I should note I still don't have Switch online yet. It says you can do a trial but then it converts into a one-month membership. Can I just do the trial and then convert to a year? I guess you probably can but you may have to opt-out and then opt back in which is dumb.

Oh, speaking of dumb, I didn't have enough system memory for it to create a game save file. Can't you just save to the SD card? Or failing that, move games from system memory to the SD card? I tried to do both but couldn't find an option so I had to archive one of my games, and now probably have to download again to the SD which is a really dumb roundabout way of moving it

You have to archive and then download games on SD card instead of moving them. You cannot save save games on the SD card.

kinda vague but seems to be a step in the right direction

I've kinda been holding back posting about it because I don't think it deserves "praise" per se but I've been getting into mostly 1v1s the last few days even before the patch, but still good to see.

Smash tip: go to My Music in settings to alter the frequency with which music appears. Every stage by default has one song that plays far more than the rest and that's why I kept hearing the same stuff.

I like Madden. It's fun to create a reality where the Packers are good.

Smash is cool and all but unlocking stuff doesn't seem all that fun in it anymore. I miss having specific challenges tied to each unlock but I guess that's hard to do with so many characters. Still, why is the single player so barren? I liked the Melee-style adventure mode and the event matches, too bad those are gone (unless they are something you unlock? I don't really even know what's in the game).

What I miss most is having intuitive challenges like how you unlocked mewtwo.

I'm not really sure what you're talking about though... there's quite a lot of single player modes and challenges, and an adventure mode called world of light that's apparently pretty long

There's a shit load of single player content. I'm not sure what the answer to their unlocking woes is but I get not wanting it to be complicated with 60 unlocks to go through and I prefer this to smash 4 where there was no one to unlock. That's probably another way that Melee is unbeatable, best event mode too and spirits isn't as fun as event mode even though it's similar.

There's like 1300 spirits to unlock and it's an alright mode but I can't fathom finishing the adventure mode
