How often do you get hit by an attack that would deal more than 9.999 damage? It really doesn't seem like a huge deal to me.

The Stoneskin buff, where you still gain SB gauge if the attack doesn't do damage, seems like a bigger deal to me.

After tomorrow's event I'd have enough for another pull, debating whether to use it on the XIV banner or just finish off my realm pulls.

XIV Pro: it's a really strong banner.
Con: no matter how good a draw I get, it isn't going to let me beat the d??? torment yet. And the next 14 banner will probably be stronger, because of Awakening SBs.

When I look at it like that I kind of think I should just pass. Alphinaud's CSB would help a lot with the upcoming magicite too, but that's just one item.

Also, brave USBs got a buff that I hadn't even heard about from Japan. Not that surprising they decided to buff them since the consensus is they're mostly no stronger than EX modes. But I'm surprised I hadn't heard anything about this.

Got Sabin OSB and Zidane USB1 from daily draws over the past few weeks. Finally pulled on the Lucky banners and went 7/33

So magic banner was a total bust, but overall this is pretty good. I get some form of instacure in FFVI and VIII now, can reforge Squall's LM gloves, and make Tidus even more of a killing machine. I'm not even sure how to optimize Tidus with all the tools I have (USB/ASB/CSB/BSB2). I'm tempted to do one more pull on B1 chasing the other USBs and ASBs, but I now have six dupes plus I don't really need Tidus Glint, so I should play smart and save the mythril

The next FF14 banner will probably be around a year away though, FF14 is a very rare realm, which why it's also advised to pull on FF11/FF1 coming up since those are even rarer.

I sub30 the first two torment Yunalescas, first one was quick no problem, second one was a lot harder just because of the Incubus Ultima + Hellbiter combo that did so much damage it wiped my party out the first time. It's better to use Yuna's super here for the stock HP over her USB.

Also I legend dived Auron just for him to become an entrust bot in the end, d'oh.

Biggest reason to not be pressured to drawing on I, XI and XIV is the next set of realm draws after they reset the sets will be thick with ones from these upcoming banners, meaning you're not unlikely to get some good stuff for 15 mythril instead of 50

You'll also be at bigger risk of getting duds, most of FF1/11/14 is severely dated outside of the last 3 current banners.

Not really. A lot of the dated stuff was SSB. Much higher percentage of duds in something like FFX or FFVII that had a lot of events early in the life of BSBs or OSBs.

Like it's not a given you'll do well but I'd say they have some of the best odds of the realm draws once the next set rolls in

Populars realm are also balanced out by having a lot of good and recent relics too, where as FF1/11/14 aren't (why do you think most people are reluctant about pulling on those in RoP/Realm banners to begin with? If FF1/11 didn't have chains most people would skip them entirely)

And actually the SSBs are the more valuable of the fossils (Minfilia, Alph damage reflect, Prishe Last Stand ect) FF1/11/14's BSBs are mostly trash these days and not torment worthy.

It's because the pools have a low amount of grand prizes and if you have any of them your odds of getting great stuff goes way down. You're also more likely to have the good prizes because those are what appear on the fest banners

If you don't have any of them they're absolutely worth drawing on and the percentage of good relics is going to go way the hell up relative to the other RoP and realm banners with the next release

That doesn't change the fact that there's a lot more worthless stuff in FF1/11/14 pool than viable neo torment relics and the current FF14 and upcoming FF11 and FF1 are mostly solid overall with only a few duds (actually not really any duds on FF1 besides getting a LM only for a character)

And what if you crap out on RoP/Realm refresh? Those three have no foreseeable events in the future and it's been over a year since our last FF11 event. You'll be unable to get those rubies from those torments in who knows when or you can risk 50 mythril by pulling on the realm banners again when you had a much better pool prior.

And only Warrior of Light, Garland, Alphinaud, Y'shtola and Shantotto really get any love during fests (and even in Alph's case it's more returns than new stuff)

Well if you're really hurting on I XI and XIV and need relics there to even come close to competing yeah drawing on a realm banner is better.

But like in terms of "there's more worthless stuff" there's not. There's actually a lot more worthless stuff by number and percentage in the bigger realms.

It's just simple math. 14 good relics or so in a pool of like 25 relics bumps it up a ton more than like 14 good relics in a pool of 70.

I think you can get away with residual fest/element banner appearances + RoP and Realm banners on these small realms because yeah power creep helps those smaller pools that much more.

Those bigger pools are also getting a lot more good stuff over the last year and half and powercreep has slowed down in general making the odds of getting something good more likely and lessing the odds of getting a gen 1 BSB or something though, unfortunately most of the FF1/11/14 stuff is before that year and a half and is mostly worthless but still is big chunk of the odds in those grab bags. Sure you can say the odds are better of getting a top relics but the risk is much more top heavy.

Doesn't seem like that theory is holding much water since even in Japan most people who beat the d280 Ultima Weapon did pull on the current FF14 banner, either that you had to be lucky enough to have a combo of Ysayle/Garlond/Yda's USBs prior.

It's going to be worse in FF1 and 11 because those are rarer and didn't have any popular banners prior to the recent ones.

I'm fighting 5* magicite why wouldn't I want more 6* abilities? Especially for the second half coming up? I still need abilities for the holy, dark and earth magicites (well mostly just wind magic for Admantoise) + the imperil machinist skills and new elemental thief's revenge. And if I get Bartz Awakening I'll want the 5 hit spellblades as well.

I mean yes obviously I don't mean literally you, the guy who nearly ragequit thr game because a few bad draws made him unable to day 1 the 5* Earth Magicite, but in the general sense you don't need to do the 280 in literally every realm immediately. Long term you're better served by not going for that

Huh I didn't even draw for Setzer's relics you kidding me. I quit the game a bit after OSBs hit and it wasn't due to not getting relics it was because the game's powercreep didn't line up with my playstyle. Came back when the game started being more about depth of roster rather than just getting the new OP soul break flavor every few months on the same characters

I'm just saying taking time to beat content is not a big deal you have stuff to work for that way. If you're not OCD about day 1ing everything it's smarter in the long run to pass on these small realms banners unless you really want the chain or something. Drawing on them just for torment power is why Torment Trap banners are a common phrase

And beating magicite/neo torment is the main grind for now, especially with two inheritance slots to consider and ruby budgeting, because the next torment comes every other week~ish and the next magicite is monthly. Other than that there's nothing else to do besides Crystal grind in dalies anymore. And if you don't do neo torments you run out of good 6* abilities to grind :/

You're mashing things up. How that one went was:

I left the game for like a year cause it got boring a bit after OSBs came out needing to Tyro through everything

Came back, went like 9/66 or 8/55 all bursts on a banner with 4 great 6* items (Hyper Mighty G + Tidus Chain + Ultra + something else)

Considered rerolling a billion times cause there was a 33 draw and like 100 mythril so rerolling and restarting from scratch was seeming somewhat viable and cause I'd farmed so much mythril off the board and most all of my relics were power crept. Setzer relics were desired in the rerolls there cause it was the active banner.

Gave up rerolling cause rerolling this game is obnoxious as hell.

Then renewal dungeons came and gave me a ton of mythril so I gave it a bit more patience cause at least I had orbs and crystals. Spending that down my luck was slightly less ass and I could actually do current content.

That still seems more petty, since there was still a lot for you left to do,and bursts were still viable at that time. I already beat everything up to that point besides D$ neo torments (and Zeromus but fuck that fight) but the game presented a wall that was a big middle finger with 5* magicite's savage modes and the physical/magic split on magicite where I needed new relics to deal with those niches. But the game was constantly screwing me over with bad RNG and I wasn't making any noticeable progress for months because I couldn't get an earth chain or earth mage relics, and there was nothing else to do besides farming crystals leaving the game both boring yet frustrating. That's certainly more reasonable to be fed up at a game than simply bringing Tyro along.

And it's not like I'm alone in that, the game lost a lot of playerbase around when Neo Torment/5* magicite started because people didn't like being restricted so much in top level content and having to budget so many relics for one boss.

If renewal dungeons had not come out I would not have been able to do 3* magicite for a long long LONG time. Guarantee it. The 600 myth or so I got from there was vital to kickstart my pile of dated relics after going bust. One decent Ayame burst and a bunch of middling ones isn't getting you through content. They were "viable" in the same way weak Ultras are against 5* Magicite today

Also keep in mind there's a world of difference between quitting because of bad luck when you're actively playing and enjoying the game and quitting when you're considering getting back in and the game gives you the middle finger before your feet even hit the ground

3* was supposed to be a wall at the time though, it was throwing away a lot of what we relied on (breaks, bursts exposed for how low their multiplier actually was, RW) relics at the the time were meant more for the old torments and magicite was more of a luxury for those strong enough and a wake up call for how ultras and buffed abilities were the future. Even then I beat most of the 3* magicite with Raines BSB + mage bsbs like Desch and Papalymo so bursts did get the job done back then.

5* isn't really comparable because of their savage modes boosting their already insane HP/defenses making chains nigh essinetal. And we haven't gotten much powercreep between the debut of gen 2 chains to 9 months later with awakening soul breaks compared to early USBs and tops BSBs to USBs and gen 2 chains of now.

That said it made the dead zone worse, at least there was a challenging event boss once in a while like Prod Clod back then or a tricky Crystal Tower, now even A++ Cid Missions with bad relics can be done with good magicite passives and 6* abilities.

In any case this is a tangent that wasn't really meant to be my point. You're giving advice from the standpoint of someone who has a compulsion to day 1 everything which isn't the best advice for the general public.

Overall if you tank the hit on I XI and XIV (and Type 0 though it wasn't mentioned) temporarily and let RoP and 15 myth realm draws/fests bring em up you'll be better off

Of course if you really want some relics like the Wind Chain for non realm reasons sure. But XIV being rare isn't a good reason to go for it alone imo. They will catch up from randos quicker than the others

It's not a day one compulsion it's a rare realm in general problem, I didn't do the FF4 torment day 1 because that's a common realm that gets an event every 2-3 months so waiting on that is no issue since there will be frequent banners, but how often do we get FF1/11/14 events?

Last FF1 was in April (Thief 1) And a couple of mini events (the Meia one was also delayed over a year from Japan for some reason so that shouldn't count)

Last FF14 was February

Last FF11... was August 2017

It's more an issue that if you don't pull you won't get another shot at these realm's relics at least half a year later, and banking on one time grabbags is a far from a reliable solution to these neo torments. What if you just end up with Haurchefant LM and Thancred BSB1 in the RoP and Refresh? Or Prishe BSB? Or any of the many awful FF1 BSB or LMs? Unless you get a jackpot you won't be able to handle neo torments until we get Awakenings so OP they let us off realm neo torments in 2021 or something (or Bartz Awakening)

Also Type-0 isn't a rare realm, heck it's more common than FF3/12 events now.

Yunalesca does a lot of damage, but so does Tidus. When I first tried a full synergy team on d280 I died, but as soon as I subbed in Elarra for Yuna I rolled her in 17 seconds.

Another one I'm not going to bother attempting the d??? yet... not worth it with only a BSB for Yuna.

I got a disco on the daily today but it was a Cloud of Darkness USB dupe. Aw man, like I know I shouldn't complain since I got a good USB from the daily a few days ago but it's still a bummer.

Edge's new USB in the current FF4 event in Japan is elban doppelganger + 10 water/bio hits so that's great new for anyone still missing out on his ssb2.

Rubicant USB is what I'm hyped for. Fire Imperil + Enfire + Fire Radiant Shield + Quickcast 3 that's awesome. I could see him being slotted on physical fire teams just cause that ultra is so strong if you've got a chain to help it.

Nope no Water Chain and Water Chains are pretty rare any time soon. I suppose if I went for Strago's Mag Chain instead I might have some other options.

Since you have a Strago LM I would go for his chain over either of the FFX banners. Then its just a matter of whether you need to updated your FF6 relics or spread out your chances over multiple realms. Like for me FF6 pull would be good since Strago is the only character on the banner I have any relic for, but then I risk pulling something for Gau and that's just a big no for me. For you it's a rare chance to pull on a FF6 banner without any Terra relics!

Got Nine's LM on the daily draw, and it actually sounds pretty good to act independently (chance of wind imperil with jump attacks). I also pulled on FF3 realm since I'm going through those elite dungeons right now, got a dupe of OK BSB which is fine cause I also got OK pUSB! That pretty much secures my decision to save money and not pull on the USB dream draw; Tyro Godwall would be my pick but I've been doing alright so far without it.

My FFVI is pretty strong. It's the only Torment I can come close to beating on DWhale right now (currently can get Wrexsoul down to 30%) (ironically FFX will probably get damn close to winning too once I actually attempt it), so getting FFVI stuff isn't super important, though Gogo would be slotworthy with his Ultra. Water pickup is probably smarter though considering that.

That being said I feel like Rikku fits into both parties better, and I like Rikku more.

But yeah I guess I've successfully talked myself out of drawing on this one at least. That second draw giving me the 3rd through 5th best relics for me on the banner really dampens the appeal of drawing more.

Overstrike Bravery are meh, they're only really good for breaking 5* savage modes. Most of the time the previous USBs is better.
