i haven't attempted Geos yet or even really looked into the fight much because i can't beat Quetz. was just sorta musing about the problems with teambuilding for the fight and that's without even knowing about the petrify. with that i honestly have no idea what to do. can you mblink it?

Yeah it's a really obnoxious fight. I do have Edge SSB but he was basically dead weight with just the 3* lightning ability doing 9999 per turn. That's why I tried Larsa instead since he can entrust until he needs to drop Life Crystal.

Also looking at Enlir's spreadsheet I realized there's only 6* Magic weapon in the entire game that has unlocked +Lightning, Ashe's AOSB. Wish I had it!

Alright, I picked my selections... went for Elarra USB and Shantotto LMR. Once I realized Quistis's USB wasn't one of the options I was really just agonizing on Shantotto's USB vs Elarra's. Ultimately I decided you can't go wrong taking the strongest item available... I still really want Shantotto's but it really only helps for 2 fights.

Waiting might have been good but I want to start clearing Geosgaeno now so that I can level up useful magicite instead of wasting the EXP from the golden fest.

Yeah it's easy skip for me at full price. 25 mythril puts it close to the value of the 15 mythril realm draws so I'm at least thinking about it (G2 + 20 randoms for 30 mythril vs G3 + 8 randoms for 25 mythril. The value is close.)

Did the 15 mythril draw for the FF8 realm. 1/11, but it was Seifers dark chain!! Gen 2 chain right? Does this make him an auto dive? Ive never really used him.

Yep Seifer's chain is gen 2. Just don't make the initial mistake I did and assume there was a hastega attached to the SB (there isn't)

I have him half dived, but I don't care too much about his LD. His RM2 gives him Last Stand and Reraise at the start of battle, which I can only think of being useful against an enemy with a conditional OHKO attack (like it targets highest HP member or member in the first slot, something like that). If you get his LM that gives a chance of W-cast darkness I would consider it though, as he does have a couple darkDMG% increases in the LD.

Goddamn, Incubus Tank Purge is a bitch. That shit hit for 6000 AOE back to back on the D280. I managed to get through by casting Yshtola BSB between them, but the timing is extremely strict.

I was a second or two over 30 seconds on my first successful attempt, but I'm sure I can do D280 sub 30.

D??? is another matter, obviously.

Being at level 99 doesn't really seem to do much in this game though, it's all about "beard modes" as the completionist would put it (top tier relics, chains, legend dives, Magicite boosts ect) heck I sub30 Famfrit with a level 75 King as my main DPS.

I got a disco in the daily draw today, Jecth USB1, not great but I hope this is a good sign for the FF14 banner tonight.

Can confirm Elarra's USB is ridiculously powerful... I got my Geosgaeno kill down from 55s to 31s mostly thanks to the speed she provides (I did also dive Rapha which helps some too). It's still an annoying fight but I think I have it scripted out now. Could probably be under 30s just by getting the 6* witch ability but I think I'm going to save my rubies for other stuff I need more.

Beat first two torment Ultima Weapons under 20 seconds with my new FF14 toys, team was Papalymo, Ysayle, Thancred, Minfilia and Elara. This boss hits stupid hard! Thank god for Elara's regenra and quickcast, Ysayle was dead on the first difficulty since I couldn't heal her in time so I put Mako Might on Elara on the next difficulty so I didn't get overwhelmed by damage in the first few turns.

I'm guessing Thancred USB is the "torment trap" because of it's major magic break? Incubus Tank Purge only did 2500/4000 damage to me (Elara also used Jitterbug to break it further)

Also I keep thinking Thancred's USB weapon is a katana not a dagger.

Yeah I brought magic breakdown to this one which I usually don't do. I did the first two difficulties yesterday, today after the draw I tried d??? and got to 62%. Probably can't do too much better than that without more draws, but I'll probably give it a couple more tries.

holy shit i just got Kain's chain from the free draw. doubled my chain count in the last week (granted, still only three elements and one gen 2). now just gotta get his USB for the ultimate cheese strat on Famfrit. i still have the FF4 realm draw left, too, though with only 30 mythril i can't quite pull yet until i confirm that the black friday draw is as bad as we think it is.

Well that didn't really help, an extra water boosting bracer is nice but the game keeps giving me Jecht relics even though he's not that good. Also it's always been around this time of the year as well! I remember two years ago I got his BSB on a Christmas~y lucky, then I got his OSB last year on another lucky, and I got his USB1 yesterday on a daily!

Despite that I'm probably not going to use him in the torment since I got Tidus/Seymour/Rikku/Yuna USBs and will either use Wakka or Auron as a entrustbot.

I have FF1, 11, 14 and Tactics left for 15 mythril draws, I will do 1 later, FFT probably as well in hopes of a Ramza chain or dualcast LM for Ramza or Argias, 11 is pretty iffy since I only really want Shantotto Aosb, LM and USB and Aphmau's USB, but the torment's coming up and my synergy is ass for this realm so maybe when I have like 200+ mythril or something.

FF14 is a skip, only thing I want is Alphinaud USB and Ysayle LM, already have Ysayle and Garlond USBs which are the only noteworthy relics at this point.

I did the new Record Dungeons and decided to do FF1 with the mythril from it.

2/11 Warrior of Light LM (the bad one) and GARLAND CHAIN! Finally a Dark chain! That's one out of the four elemental chains that keeps dodging me! (others are Holy, Fire and Earth.)

I pounded my head against a magicite wall all day, but I finally managed to break through and beat Phoenix.

Tidus CSB/USB/BSB2
Elarra USB
Bartz waterBSB/USB1/USB2/ASB
Minwu USB
Rikku USB1/BSB1

It took 48 seconds and almost a full day's worth of attempts. My magicite decks are fairly solid, so the only way I can see to make it any easier would be to pull Tidus's ASB and LMR, and maybe Rikku's CSB. Breaking his savage mode would make his damage more manageable, but I still don't think Elarra could handle it by herself, so I'd rather have the extra meter from his faster, slightly weaker attacks.

And on an unrelated note, I'm a weak, weak man. Money is kinda tight right now, but I caved and spent $30 on Vivi's USB. (Also a dupe Raines USB). Feels bad man.

Edit: So I went and did some Realm draws cause why the fuck not, got 1/11 dupe, 1/11 dupe, and 5/11 w/ 3 dupes and 2 utterly useless LMRs. At least there was an earth boosting sword in there somewhere.

Yeah I finally started trying Phoenix seriously tonight but the damage output is insane. Maybe I should try a 2 healer approach like you, but what I have right now is:

Tidus CSB/USB/BSB2/OSB
Elarra USB
Ramza BSB2 (wrath/entrust)
Celes USB
Paine USB

All five characters fully dived and LMRs for Tidus, Elarra, Ramza, and Celes. I got to close to 80% but just got overwhelmed with damage. Tried using Edge instead of Celes once but it didn't go well... I would definitely need a lot more hones on the ability that creates mirror image and then he'd mostly just be doing that for 19,998 damage and then using his SSB to keep the team alive. Might still be better than using 2 healers though.

Last stand isn't too useful here, his savage meltdown saps you and he uses it frequently in phase 3, and unless you can keep him out of savage mode he'll get 2 turns to your 1 by the end.

I legit love fighting Phoenix. He spams so many attacks, that the SB gauge fills at a ridiculous rate.

With Shelke and Aphmau, there's literally 2 turns in the entire fight that aren't instant cast.

If Rikku's chain meter didn't max out at 150, it could easily reach 200-250. The 9999s are just everywhere towards the end of the fight. Even Bartz USB1 chase can cap, with USB2 also active, and a few imperils from Rikku USB2

Phoenix is one the rare fights where Relm's USB is better than Elara's because of how fast he hits so regenra can't keep up, but as pointed out earlier you gain so much meter that if you have an entrustbot and Lionheart RM on Relm you get constant instant casts.

Seems like Manticore is also super fast like Phoenix which isn't going to be as fun since fire mages are squishy... And he has water attacks to boot.

At least on a positive note I got Lann's USB on the daily! It's like Sabin's USB but with one less hit for stoneskin and a crit boost, and it's a fire boosting thrown weapon with decent magic!



Now if only I had a fire chain, all these good fire DPS relics for both mage and physical but no chain to fight the 5* ice Magicite next month...

Hmm, I don't have Relm but I do have Aphmau, maybe I should try him in the Phoenix fight. Is Lionheart better than Mako Might though? You still have to get hit 20 times before it gives you as much SB as Mako Might, and being able to heal right away is nice.

My fire mages are pretty strong (Vivi USB + all LMs, Terra USB/OSB/LM, and Papalymo USB/BSB/SSB) but it's the one element where I have no chain so that might be rough.

After getting my Quetz to lvl.99, I figured it was time to see if I could manage Geos. It took a few tries, but Geos is down. 3 clears for now, 1 of them sub-30.

I had to buy the 6* witch ability for Shantotto USB from the Ruby Shop, but it was worth it.

You need to have instant heals ready for the majority of the fight, and Phoenix doesn't actually attack for a few turns so you can get a couple of Lunar Levithans off to build meter during those turns if you're using Alphmau or Elara.

Probably should have worded it better that Relm is the better option for survival because of stoneskin while Elara and Alphamau are better for meter building.

I finished off the realm draws today because why not I suppose...

Not doing FF14 since the only things I want from it are Ysayle LM and Alphamau USB and those aren't worth the risk.

I did pretty good overall on these, FF4 and FF7 were probably worth it alone, could have really used a fire/earth chain and some better FF2 relics though...

Also they're nerfing blade/spell ward in Japan for some reason! Whhhhhy?
