I think it was in the case of Iraq badly misapplied for a few reasons (namely that they badly miscalculated the threat posed by Saddam Hussein and vastly underestimated the value of having a check like him on Iran's primacy over the Shia sphere and did not exhaust non-military options before committing to A fairly long term foreign policy engagement) . But I don't think its wrong. Global threats do need managed, democracy/liberalism does need a global advocate and that should be us. Even before, the fact that someone found a police report about a separate incident years back added credibility to the more recent and public allegation by helping to establish a pattern and I felt he should go based on that.
