Okay I see you're being facetious now. Buddy boy literally attempted to bribe people with real life currency to get his character to win. Even if you don't quantify that as "wrong" then surely you've gotta at the very least qualify it as pathetic and worthy of a little derision if nothing else.

I mean bribing people with street cred, Internet points, hugs, and even "dignity" like Maria did one year is one thing. Those things aren't "real" in the truest sense of the word. They're not tangible. Offering saves for trivia, begging, or artwork, or trading saves for other saves- that round, next round, future round, or future contest when that was still allowed- that's still on the same level.

It's when you start offering real life things like money or material goods is when you cross that line into caring too much and thus become the lowest hanging kind of fruit.

Like I might not have agreed with giving up my dignity for a save, but I never would've mocked the people that did- and there were a lot that contest. Fun times...

definitely one of the best long cons I ever pulled off. it might have been weird and only sort of funny at the time, but now whenever I look back on it I can fondly remember people giving up their dignity for a few free saves. and in retrospect it's way more funny.

Honestly maybe it is being so used to MWC being MWC but I never even for a moment took any of that seriously.

I am being a bit facetious though. I actually helped him so he would shut up about future trading which worked. I also wanted Red Mage to do better than he did but alas not every evil plot is fulfilled.

MWC was equally annoying pestering everyone to switch to Cloud every time a character went out, so getting him off the specific topic of future trading didn't accomplish much.

Lefty made a decision, it might not be the best decision in the world, but there was a logic behind it - the game was not active for 30 minutes, you will be able to save again 30 minutes later, it's that simple
You may disagree with it and it's fine, but there is a difference between being civil and between "worst host", "figuring out when 90 minutes are up it's too much work","give us a new host" etc
There was just so much complaining for a one time event, it's very unlikely that the site will go down again during SMFFFC, and especially when a round is active
Also it's the fucking 21th round, if your favorite character got out now, it probably wouldn't have gotten far anyway

But you're absolutely right the character who reliably had 2 people saving it every round as their first save and had two people who may have saved her miss the round entirely or partially wouldn't have got far anyway.

Or the guy who came in second place two years ago, he wouldn't have got far anyway.

There's a lot of luck in the one save rounds. That's all there is to it.
