How popular is Bandana Dee? I've only played two Kirby games a million years ago, but I know some people want this guy in.

He's basically part of the main group now with Kirby, King Dedede and Metaknight. He makes them a group of 4 and has been playable in a ton of recent Kirby games and very relevant.

The ONLY thing holding him back is that Sakurai hasn't really worked on any of the games where Bandana Dee has been prominent in (IE all the recent Kirbys)

But he is without a doubt a highly requested character, especially in Japan and if Kirby was to get a 4th rep, which it should, Bandana Dee is really the only logical choice.

it's interesting... that guy had some stuff right and other stuff not right, but I wonder if it's like Verg's first leak where he said Simon would be revealed at E3, so he knew the real info but got the timing wrong...

I really doubt any of the leaks are true. They've all gotten significant details wrong. I think they're just good guesses.

I dunno. Ridley and Simon are both reasonable characters to guess, but to guess them being the first two new (non-echos) revealed would be really lucky, and this guy has had legitimate leaks from other fighting games in the past.

Rayman's a big reasonable one or a Rabbid. Crash and/or Spyro maybe. Minecraft Steve (yuck)

The Verbegen lean is absolutely true. Loz leak probably is too. Most leaks get some details wrong (they're definitely getting info from multiple sources) but you still have to pay much closer attention to what they're saying than any random person because they definitely have some inside knowledge.

It's still not extremely persuasive to me because everyone guessed those two. I think absolutely everyone on Earth expected Simon Belmont if Sakurai could secure the rights, he was guessed even back in Brawl. Ridley was also an easy guess despite the too big memes. Guessing the first two characters to be revealed is possible when they're both obvious. I'll be more convinced if he can predict the next non-echo newcomer.

I'm not saying he's definitely fake, by the way. I'm just saying I want more evidence.

If just going by Smash, the leaks are tougher to believe

But Vergeben leaked both TMNT in Injustice, and Groh in Soul Calibur, including details on how they would play, so he definitely has some kind of connections

I don't know if I said I would have GUESSED him in Smash 4 but he was consistently at the top of my wishlist so it's not like I haven't been thinking about him

He's the closest thing to a Mega Man they could have delivered in Smash 5 so it makes perfect sense to guess him

Here's the thing about leakers: people who have real information sometimes also get incorrect information, and sometimes the real information changes. If somebody gets something wrong, it doesn't invalidate everything else they get right. In this case the leaker has a strong but not perfect record so while maybe not everything is going to line up 100% he clearly has real information so what he says is damn likely.

Reminds me of the guy questioning if the (non-Smash Bros.) Canadian Wal-Mart E3 leak was real because Splinter Cell wasn't announced at E3. You don't just randomly guess dozens of games including freaking Rage 2...

I'm not saying his leak is definitely false, I'm just saying that it's guessable. Had he said Richter, sure, but he didn't. Also, I admit I just don't want Incineroar. I'd much rather see Tapu Koko or something weird like Oricorio.

As someone who spent far too much time on the GameFAQs SSB4 board, smashboards.com, the Smash reddit, and even looked up Smash Ballot result surveys, I can assure you that Simon was simply not a top priority for most people. Not even a secondary priority, honestly. He was barely mentioned in the discussions I saw, which tended to be dominated by...well, every character revealed up until now except for Simon. (Yes, even Dark Samus. People were desperate for more Metroid characters).

I just am not persuaded at all by Simon and Ridley. I need a character that's harder to guess. Is Verge the one who said Gardevoir will get in? If Gardevoir gets in, then that would convince me.

Simon was always pushed aside because of Snake, and it seemed unlikely that Konami would get two reps. However now Konami has stopped giving a damn about their licenses they gave a ton of stuff in there. Half expecting Goemon to turn up

Simon was not mentioned remotely in the same breath as Sonic or Mega Man. Like I realize there's not much I can do to convince you otherwise but including Simon in the list of characters that people wishes for or talked about on any major basis is legitimately wrong. I have spent way too much time on Smash forums.

Then who did Verge say was going to get in? A quick google search gave me speculation about whether he's right but no definitive lists.

Ridley, Simon, Isabelle, and a gen 7 pokemon are all guessable, especially the pokemon, especially Incineroar. Isabelle even gets into Mario Kart now. All characters is harder, but I could still see someone guessing it. A Minecraft rep would go a long way in convincing me, though. If that happens, I'll probably be persuaded.

with Knuckles deconfirmed as an assist trophy, I am hoping we get playable Tails with a new moveset, in lieu of a Shadow clone of Sonic. Like that would be cool I guess, no reason to not do that, but it's lame to have just 1 Sonic character, and if they do finally get a 2nd just have it be a straight clone.

Tails could be a kind of unique fighter if you give him some gadgets and stuff. Knuckles would've been preferable.

I hang out on video game message boards frequently. Back in Smash 4 Ridley was the most discussed potential newcomer until his actual role was revealed. In Ultimate, I can say with certainty that people were talking about Ridley, Dark Samus, Chrom, King K. Rool, and Simon constantly before they were announced (especially Simon, though in his case the Castlevania music upload had spoiled it). I'm not saying that guessing Ridley is a surefire thing (like Inkling would have been, anyone could have guessed that if they'd tried), but he's one of the most obvious and talked about picks possible.

Anybody trying to fake a credible leak for Ultimate wasn't going to include Ridley, or at the least not go "Yeah and he'll be the big reveal at e3," when Sakurai has flat out been saying "No Ridley ever" for so long. Like, people immediately were going "This is fake" about any leak that included him.

Like, Ridley's not some "oh man this guy is legit!" kind of leak by a long shot, but saying it's a 100% guessable thing is dumb
