I think that was a good end. The series kept being strong and strong throughout the entire run, and most of that was because all the set up and characterization outside the fights. But for this final fight, everything was already set up. So it had to go for something a little different. And I think it does a good job of making you feel for both and giving it weight. And yea, nice detail with not making the winner get any fanfare. Because it really wasn't about who won at that point.

Could a BIT more have happened? I think so, but I'm not sure how they could have done it. This fight could have been disappointing SUPER easily, but they did what they had to do with it and it worked.

Also I really like that Yuri becomes a companion at the end. What a cool dude, I really like him.

Finished Tada Never Falls in Love

Overall a pretty solid show. Definitely had its ups and downs though. Going to group this in the same category as The Pet Girl of Sakurasou I think. They're both romcoms I liked reasonably well, but they both have similar problems that prevent them from being really memorable. That being that they hammer in their characters' quirks too much, and sometimes the shows get way too melodramatic for their own good without proper build-up.

I do still really like the main 4 or so characters though (Tada/Teresa/Alec/Ijuin, and I suppose Charles also), so it's good enough for a solid 7/10.

Holy shit episode 13 of Tada was fucking awful. Feels like a show that was written by like half a dozen different people who weren't in agreement as to what direction everything should go in. If they wanted to do it this way there's so much they should've done earlier, and even this episode should've been way more direct and to the point.

Mainly the show was just ruined by all the bad decisions they made early on. Introducing all of the extra friends ended up being totally pointless. Hina and Hajime never went anywhere, and Yamashita was just a nothing character. If the series had been more focused it could've gotten me to care a lot more about the central characters than it did. Sucks that it went so far downhill after a pretty good first episode.

At least the animation was nice enough to save it from the bottom, so it gets a solid 2/10.

I don't really disagree with the spirit of that post, but I do think it's been clear what direction the show was going in for like 9-10 episodes or something.

Though yes, the side characters should pretty much have just not existed I feel like. (Or been made to be more relevant)

In general I really liked the middle of the show, while the beginning was okay, and the end was...eh. There were individual parts of the last few episodes I liked I guess, like the Tada/Teresa date.

Show has a top tier OP also, imo.

Hey this is what I'm ranking Tada too. It wasn't horrible but man did it ever make me feel like I was wasting my time. The side characters were all pointless, the comedy was mediocre, and for episodes at a time it was like they forgot there was supposed to be a romance.

I also hated the timeskip of several months after Teresa left. It killed any momentum their romance might've had so I just couldn't care for the two last episodes. Unacknowledged puppy love wouldn't survive that.

I knew there was no way Ichigo wouldnt be in. Even though Bleach is dunzo (aside from the upcoming live action movie and the mobile game) it was still a huge part of Jump for a decade.

Alright I came across the first dumb thing in HxH

It's fuckin dumb that if they dont register by midnight they have to start from the first floor and Killua gets banned. The whole idea of Nen seems KIND OF dumb too but that I'll let slide because shonen. And it kind of seems like Hisoka pulled Nen out of nowhere but I can sort of accept that he was showing signs of it during the Hunter Exam, just didnt feel threatened enough to use the FORCE PUSH aspect of it

That being said you've already passed one of my least favorite parts, which was the entirety of that Killua mini-arc that should have ended a couple episodes ago or something. Really didn't like that, though I confess I don't even remember why. Something to do with Gon I think?

The rescue Killua from his family one? On the contrary I thought it was great that they cut it so short, I thought that was gonna be a whole entire arc of going through each member of the family working up to actually getting to Killua and fighting the father or something. The fact that he just got let go (for now) really surprised me in a good way.

The Zoldyck family arc is usually considered the worst part of the series. Personally I'd say the Hunter exams were the worst arc.

Nen is great and does some really, really creative stuffs. Once you're past this quick arc, you'll hit the second best Hunter x Hunter Arc.

Heavens Arena is the only part of HxH I didn't really enjoy

Oh yeah, one other confusing thing in Katana Maidens. It doesn't really make sense that there aren't more older Toji. Like, it's totally normal for Yukari to still be a Toji in her 30s, and the Elite Guard all seem to be older than the other Toji we see for some reason. Wouldn't it make more sense for there to be more adult Toji? Having mostly young students do it doesn't really make any sense...

They mention it once with the friend of the school president but toji lose their powers as they get older. Yukari's unique situation is why she's the exception.

Yeah, I caught the ME3 comparison too. Katana Maidens spoilers (up to roughly where you are if I remember right) There is a negative side to the noro injections but they just didn't do a great job of showing it. I might say more once you finish, mostly because I'm not sure what episode you're on and I don't want to risk spoiling anything.
