I'm solid evidence that if you don't need need to use Entruster for anything or do anything but favorites draw if your goal is to just clear content and not do it in the 100% most efficient way possible. Granted I do buy the legend selects and do most 100 gems which does give me a bit of edge over the pure F2P crowd, but entrusting is definitely not needed for anything in this game.

Bartz' is probably better DPS with a chain through, I don't even use any of his bursts in my sub30 magicite runs and he caps/near caps pretty quick without infusion, his speed boost from his EX Mode and TGC make him an insanely fast chain builder.

That's powercreep for you, being stronger than 4* magicite is just the start of the problems since you have to use the same characters from the same realm or you give the boss stat boosts. That said we're not even expected to beat them yet, just damage them enough to reach a goal.

oh yeah true about the chain. i can do about 8200 per hit with Celes without a chain against Tiamat and my magicite is still not optimal. so Bartz would definitely benefit a lot more than her from a chain.

The thing is, you don't need to beat these right away, since they don't disappear. They have to have something that's a challenge for the long time players and big spenders otherwise those people will get bored and stop spending. This is pretty much the most generous possible way they can do that, where (a) the stuff sticks around so you don't miss anything if you can't beat it yet, (b) has three difficulty levels so you may be able to do the easier one, and (c) even gives rewards just for getting the boss to 50% HP.

Personally I'm really looking forward to the new Torments since I've already farmed all the magicites.

Because I feel like the distribution is like 60% Edgar 30% Lightning 10% Everyone Else

Which is obnoxious because everyone else has much higher mind and thus would be stopped for a significantly lower amount of time.

My Kraken team is

Lightning - Lifesiphonx10, Thundering Quadstrikex8 (USB, Glint)
Rydia - Tritochx5, Ixionx6 (USB)
Edgar - Tempest Snipex6, Tempest Offerx4 (USB)
Minwu - Curadax12, Protectgax6 (USB)
Sarah - Ultra Curex10, Regenga Songx2 (USB)

Magicite - Hydra Main, Bismarck for Water Resist, 3x Stat Sticks (I didn't farm 3* Lightning magicite at all beyond 4x Hydra so I don't use anything useful here)

All of these characters are fully dived and I have the LMRs for Minwu (both), Lightning and Rydia

To open the fight I have Lightning Lifesiphon the tentacles to avoid counters as the damage can get ugly to start since all the buffs take a bit to put up, and Lifesiphon does no damage anyway. Between the regenga song, Minwu's healing ultra, and two healers, I'm not really in any danger of getting killed beyond the early part and the very late part, as two healers with dualcast + high regen can generally hold off Kraken's damage without needing to waste Ultras. I have increased meter gain on Minwu-- ideally for the later parts of the fight he's got 3x Ultras to drop. I always use the ultra after a defense ignoring AOE.

Savage Leg and Savage Waterga just don't do as much as something like Marilith's Savage Firaga so it's kinda low stress and actually a pretty reliable kill. Even when Lightning or Edgar get stopped it just delays the kill a bit. Thing is without stops I generally kill the guy at around 45-50s so a stop hitting will put me into the high 50s.

So yeah I dunno. I guess the useful thing to get out of that is:

- Possibly run two healers if you're not. Possibly consider diving a healer despite that being taboo to some for a dualcast (Minwu is actually a terrible dive but I like him)
- High Regeneration is more useful than you'd think
- Run increased meter gain on your healer with the instacast healing ultra and don't get too trigger happy with it-- Kraken's early phase damage is actually kinda low as long as you're staying topped off. Even if you just face tank the counters. As long as your HP is above like 4000 or so he's not a risk since he doesn't doublecast the savage stuff as often as others early and it doesn't hurt as much-- and his standard waterga is piddly damage so he wastes turns.

One good way of dealing with Kraken's damage is to have Orlandeau equip Marche's Level 99 Record Materia and cast reflect on him, that way the counters only target him. The physical attacks help build meter and reflect keeps him safe from the more damaging magic attacks. Even if he gets blinded he can lifesiphon and OSB so he doesn't have to worry about missing.

Seems like Japan didn't get any new characters this month, that's a bummer. You'd think they'd at least have more Type-0 stuff.

I honestly feel like the game should prioritize making existing characters viable before adding new ones. I'd love to use Thief (FF1), Master (FF1), Leila (FF2), Cid (FF4), Setzer (FF6), Rufus (FF7), Mustadio (FFT) but their current tech isn't good or is actively worked against with absurd break resists and no elements or unfitting elements. Never mind the ones other people like.

I think the only actual new non-crossover characters I'd be interested in this point would be Genesis (FF7), Algus (FFT) and the remaining super cores from FF1. The game is pretty swamped with characters as is. I think FF1 and FFT are the only ones left where you're not totally scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Still we should at least get one new character a month. Type-0 still isn't complete for playable characters, we still don't have Beowulf and Reis from Tactics, more FFTA characters (there's also placeholder data for FFTA2) Blank and Lani from 9 are fan favorites people are still waiting for and 11 is especially underrepped in general.

I guess they are planning on buffing some of the neglected characters since Gau, Umaro and Gogo (6) are supposed to get USBs this month. Though FF2 got really fucked over last month since there was only one banner for the Hilda event, and FF2 events are rare in general.

15 just got an event too but it didn't get any new characters, hell it even got a 2.0 torment even through there's only 6 characters to work with. Lunafreya is definitely needed since that realm doesn't have a *5 black magic user or summoner.

It really makes it a lot harder to choose by putting this before the fest. Most of the ones I want to grab are on a fest banner: Tidus's BSB2, Terra's BSB2 (+fire armlet), and Garnet's BSB2 (+lightning staff). Do I just grab my top pick or go for something a little safer like Lulu's +Ice armor?

His BSB2 (Twilight Steel) is one of the best BSBs in the game, though it's mostly for the entry and if you have an entruster batterying him.

His first one is super old and useless since you have the USB.

Man. If Shantotto's chain wasn't in the pool I might consider skipping looking at how thin it is. As is there are only 3 Relics I would even sorta want-- that chain and the two Ayame relics I don't have. Already have most of the other 6*s, including Shantotto's USB.

I guess 3/26 ain't bad but man I seem to have gotten a lot more XI relics than I'd expect. Very high dupe risk.

Shantotto CSB and Aphmau USB are basically the only two useful things i could get. it is like a 10% chance to get one of them due to the 6*:5* ratio being set at 4:10 so i'll take that gamble for just 5 mythril. but i might put this one on the backburner like XIV. though it's looking increasingly like banner 5 ends at exactly the same time as RoP, unfortunately.

What sucks about the FF11 banner is that we didn't get the Absolute Virtue event yet (if ever) when we should have had stuff like Ayame, Zeid and Prishe's USBs in the RoP pool.

i would sort of want Prishe's USB but NE damage is just so useless nowadays. i definitely think i'm better off not having those in the pool. though people that haven't sub-30'd Tiamat yet would probably want Ayame's USB there.

i do think we'll eventually get that event on the 15th anniversary of the US release, which would be late October.

Her Legend Materia starts her off with critical rate +50%, while she doesn't have top tier DPS options her versatility makes up for it. And you're underestimating how useful her quick cast refresh is especially since she has a 35% dualcast monk LM2.

oh, didn't know about her LMR since that's not in for global either. that certainly helps, though it sucks you have to lose 10% damage for it when it already seems questionable to me.

Shantotto SSB from realms on parade. +10 mag for her is unironically in the upper third of usefulness.

and i went and did the XIV draw and got Minfilia's USB. this realms on parade is already better than last time even if i get nothing the rest of the way
