Agreed... glint + Stormy Quadstrike means you can start doing decent damage after half a bar and good damage with the USB after 1.5 bars, instead of needing 2 bars just to deal decent damage with BSB2+USB1.

The other reason to use the BSB is the 35% doublecast combat LM2... but I don't think that makes up for all the extra SB meter you need.

Alright so question how good is Squall's BSB2

I have Squall's Arcane, Glint, and LMR. I feel like it's viable to just and Snowspell Strike for days into Arcane with Triple Infuse. Is the BSB adding a lot or is it being so awesome just a relic from the time before he had his USB and Glint.

Just wondering for the wonder draw tomorrow.

his BSB2 is still very good. the only tricky thing is he basically needs thunder god's might RM (or Raijin SSB strats for Tiamat). so it's only really good in a short fight. it also doesn't generate a lot of soul gauge, but should be able to do an SSS or two after burst mode ends and still get the AOSB off with en-ice active and before the 30 second mark.

How long is Burst Mode anyway

I'm just wondering if Glint -> Burst -> AOSB is worth it for triple enice on the Burst Mode + AOSB or if the half an extra meter you need for that is too much. Like how close is the BSB AOSB combo cutting it.

Squall's BSB2 is still the best BSB in the game right now besides Sora's which is the same just with more elements (not saying much these days though) One of the few USB level DPS bursts. It's probably even better now with Aerith USB2 or Elara USB since their quickcasts get more fully junctioned Lowen Roars off.

Also it's one of the best non-elemental options for omni resistant bosses.

Well I'm not necessarily above some limited entrusting from a guy I'm bringing anyway. I draw the line at bringing someone whose only contribution is to entrust but that's not really the way this one works.

Real talk, how the hell is Cloud's AOSB NOT Omnislash (Or not called Omnislash) when it comes from the frickin' Ultima Weapon?

You would think that Cloud's best FFVII weapon would also give him his best Limit Break from the game.

Glint + Arcane + 10 Snowspell Strikes on Squall lets me beat Tiamat in 35s with Squall Lulu Snow Minwu Rikku

I think this may be doable in less time if I change my strategy up a bit. Probably won't need the burst honestly. Meter was tight getting 2x Glint + Arcane off so Glint + Arcane + Burst seems impossible without entrust which I don't really wanna bother with if I can avoid and it saves 30 bucks at that.

That is definitely not true, my Tiamat sub-30 strategy revolves around Squall going lifesiphon -> BSB -> ASB finisher.

@Lopen the BSB is definitely very good. Are you using Snow's chain? If so I think you will do much better using the BSB than Glint/snowspell because the ramp up mechanic is really conducive to dishing out massive damage in the span of one chain. If you use SSS you're basically consistently doing 4 hits throughout the fight, whereas with the BSB strategy you're doing lifesiphons and weak cmd1 during the first half of the fight when there's no chain and you're doing 7x9999 hits in the second half under chain, which also makes your ASB and your other characters' attacks much more powerful.

Yeah Kaxon the strategy I'm using is a good deal different

I run Snowspell Strikex8 and x2 on Squall and just use that the whole time instead of Lifesiphon with Squall's enice LMR. Even before Snow Chain gets up it does 6000x4 with a chance to dualcast (Rikku Hyper Mighty G is the only attack buff). Once I use his Glint it does 7300x4 or so. Once chain is up it's reliably doing 9999x4 even at low chain counts.

As it turns out Snow gets his meter for his chain at around 13 seconds in (I have him cast wall early as he's the guy with Thundergod on him so he takes slightly longer to charge than you may expect), which times well for Squall to hit his Arcane at around 27 seconds for 99999x3 at close to 99 chain (Lulu with Ultra + potential Dualcast on Instant Hell Shards runs the chain up pretty fast, also have Rikku using Ice Shot for 6 hits and Snow using icicle rush for 4)

It seems consistent. Ironically Lulu getting hit with Tiamat magic drain is the thing that hurts my DPS most and I have to restart usually without godly dualcast luck. Squall overkills the 9999x4 so much that draining his attack hardly matters as he's 9999x4ing anyway with chain. It knocks the Arcane down to like 90000x3 which could potentially suck but the Arcane kinda overkills anyway.

Squall burst may be better for some situations but with the relics I drew and strategy I use it's unneeded so I won't be going for it.

Yeah I also have Squall's LMR but SSS only does around 4600x4 for me at the beginning of the fight. I don't have any Ice armor so that probably explains it. Anyway, now that Celes is my other best ice DPS I can't afford to give Squall Snowspell since she needs two honed copies of it.

Yeah. I think the glint (which is +Ice Armor 2 birds) is kinda important for the strategy to work too, since you can get the meter for that fast and it ramps up the damage of the Arcane and Snowspells pre-chain fairly significantly. The relics I got for Squall fell into place very nicely. No waste.

Not sure what I'll do if I get any next fest if I get Celes stuff when I'm drawing for Rydia stuff. I guess I'll probably be done farming Tiamat by then though so it's whatever.

it's hard for me to imagine the BSB not helping for Tiamat considering i can consistently kill him in under 25s with no chain or AOSB. doing SSSx3, then BSB, commands, maybe a 4th SSS and AOSB to finish. that's like 800k damage on its own and i think you can squeeze all that in 30 seconds without an entrust. just switch Snow to ace striker (since i'm assuming Minwu/Rikku would need DMT/MM) and give Squall TGM. have Minwu or Lulu use wall instead.

If he can already sub-30 Tiamat, I don't see the point in picking Squall's BSB. It's a good relic, but Lopen doesn't need it.

Yeah I'm not spending 30 bucks to improve my time from 27s to 25s. As long as it's below 30 it's all the same to me man. (Also I really don't think I can get off AOSB + Burst. I can barely get the meter to AOSB + Glintx2 and the burst commands give less than SSS. I usually just Glintx1 because Glintx2 is excessive)

I had 35s first run. Then tweaked the strategy and have reliably been getting sub 30 since then (had 11 stones stocked so many runs). I even posted a screenshot of 27s!

yeah i must have glossed past that image link. was part of your stategy change switching Squall to TGM and Snow to Ace Striker? i feel like those changes would help a lot even without Squall's BSB.

and i guess even if you couldn't sub-30 it wouldn't really be worth spending $30 to do it for wind crystals of all things. those will be easily farmed after the daily change if needed. the key now is really to farm fire and earth crystals from magicite as those coincide with the more-in-demand power and black crystals.

though what did you pick from your $5 BSB if not Squall? Squall seemed like such an obvious choice for anyone that didn't have it.

I had my doubts Squall was going to be that much better than Ayame who I had burst for before the arcane. So I didn't get it. Redoing it now I'd get it. Not sure Squall with just Burst and no Arcane is really making the difference though. Got Gogo's Water Rod.

Uhhh strategy change was changing Rikku to full ice machinist and Snow's secondary to Ice Rush along with TGM on Snow to get Sentinel up before Tiamat's first attack and Hastega on Minwu to get haste like 1s earlier. Squall is currently using +30% sword damage. I had Snow and Rikku on breaks before to undo Tiamat's buffs cause Tiamat's damage gets unreasonable if you can't blitz that last 300k.

His is relevant soon on the FFT torment, and I don't like the banner that has, which looks like the last chance to pick it up for about 6 months. Other ones I considered were Celes, Maria, and Shadow, but those aren't needed as soon, and Celes and Maria's both return on outstanding banners next fest, so I'll probably aim for them then.

banner 1/3/5 seems to be a way better place to spend money than these things. as good as Vivi's LMR is, he's not really one of my favorite characters so it doesn't feel worth it for me. maybe if i pick up Kefka's USB and miss his LMR i'll think about it for next time.

Onion Knight's Legend Materia for sure, that damn cape has evaded me for far too long, and since he's my boostga in every magicite fight it's a no brainer.

Probably either get Vayne or Rem's OSB, probably Vayne since I could use a 6* dark boost sword since I have Orlandeau's USB now.

BSB is no, they should only be 500 gems from now on since a majority of them aren't worth 30.

On the Cloud thing it's best to pair him up with a fast entruster and Gathering Storm (or a damage boost if you have Marche or Aertith's USBs) BSB2 is made obsolete with USB2 and the new wind *5 spellblade so don't bother using it unless you run out of hones.

That depends on how much meter you plan to feed him. He's still strong DPS with just his USB2 and chases from spellblades but if you have meter to spare from an entruster you can stack both the USBs and watch him do insane damage.
