In Automata at best you have 2B and 9S together. The twists in Nier are better but in a way I think Automata is harmed by that because if you're familiar with Nier you already know a number of Automata's right off the bat. Story is a tougher call. I think Nier still wins that but it's tough because I think they were aiming for different things and both do incredible work at what they're going for.
