I dont even know how many people are ahead of me because I can only see the fifty~ outside of the building itself.

This is the price I pay for having a morning class that overlaps with when the DMV opens, I guess! That and not noticing that my license expired two months ago.

Our secretary of state started doing the text message alerts when you have an estimated 15 minutes left before your number gets called. You still have to carve a couple hours out of your day but at least you can go grab lunch instead of hanging out in the building the whole time.

Even with the text alerts, the vending machine for license plate tabs, and all the stuff you can do by mail or online the place still ends up as a standing room only waiting room with people lining the walls. Im pretty sure nature requires the DMV to be a hellhole.

Yeah, but it onl goes back eight numbers. I missed everything called for like the first five minutes after I sat down, though given the length of time others have waited I think Im safe.

Been sitting down for 2~ hours now.

Not only did it take forever, but I'm confident that I saved time even considering that I had to drive to a place much farther away and give up the time I spent in the first line. Thousand Oaks is much less populated than Woodland Hills.

My DMV is literally in walking distance from my apartment. I've never had to wait too long either. I just wish when I got a new licence for changing my name when I got married, they could have renewed it for 5 years, because then I had to renew it again a year later.

It sounds like it's still unpleasant enough that the difference between a year and four years was noticeable.

So have proportionally bigger DMV's/more offices? That's not a reason. Is the line at Starbucks just as long because there's so many more people trying to get coffee?

The stereotype is apparently true all over though, not just California.
