I'm surprised you guys have no orbs on the table to get without spending. We've gotten so many winnable orbs lately I have like like 60+ I can farm I think.

If there's a banner I like going on, I tend to draw as soon as I reach 13+. There's been a lot of cool banners recently!

I don't spend money on much these days, so I feel like it wouldn't be so bad if I spent some on this game every now and then. At the same time, the banners coming this month are probably more desirable.

I'm trying to decide how to optimize the Deirdre I did get. I don't have Fortress Res, so I'll give her Fury, but should I pair it with Renewal 3, which will cost me 20k feathers? Once again, Fury and QR don't go hand-in-hand.

Yeah, I had a decent amount saved up, but got Dorcas and Lute. Then spent one round on the Legendary banner and got Genny and Xander. But my main objective was either a second Brave Lyn or my first Brave Ike, and spent over 150 orbs on that banner with nothing to show for it.

I really wanted a Genny and got two Brave Lyns and a Brave Ike I didn't particularly want. I'll trade you!

Barrel, I would forget about renewal on Deirdre. Green Tombreaker is the best B skill for Julia and Deirdre imo. She will need it to duel the faster green mages like Nino.

You can never have too many Brave Ikes. Steady Breath is a busted skill, and I'd probably feed a spare to ATiki I had one.

One Arena change I've had to implement recently is subbing in my Ike for Lucina. Ike is definitely better overall but my team desperately needs a Falchion user to counterbalance all the dragons popping up in Arena since the update. I can deal with Nowi with my Dorcas but every other dragon is a pain in the ass to fight with the rest of my team. It's working well so far but I miss Ike.

you mean like... you haven't completed the story updates? no, i always do those immediately (unless you mean chain challenge, but then i don't really consider those "available" to me when i can't actually get them)

I wonder if Fire Emblem Heroes Gamepress knows how to play the game

I can't say for sure but I know the Fire Emblem Heroes wiki has a lot of completely awful guides as "Curated Builds" so I'm always skeptical about this game's online community from any source that isn't this board.

i don't really consider the stratum quests as being all that available either. i'd never try to get all those during a TT no matter how much i wanted a unit (maybe just 1 or 2 if that's how many orbs i'm short on the last day) the other December quests are all done.

i have 4 orbs left to get from TT, but i can definitely understand how many people would be done by now. i took two days off completely other than the two x3 runs those days.

Sort of. Sonya will still beat her if she has her special up. Green Tomebreaker allows you to initiate as well. QR can be helpful defending against blue mages, but she doesn't need that to trounce Reinhardt.

I was looking at Brave Ike earlier, and a "Curated Build" suggested Aegis/Steady Breath/Shield Pulse. I don't put much faith in the suggestions on gamepress or the wiki

Well, I use Gamepress alongside GFAQS, but I don't want to have to consult GFAQS for every single character I want to use, so it's quicker to go to Gamepress.

Overall I think Gamepedia is a pretty good resource for builds/opinions. Gamepress less so.

as far as opinions go, i find myself agreeing with altema.jp/fe-heroes/ way more than gamepedia or gamepress.

i still usually just look on gamepedia for unit stats and builds, cause it's the easiest site to read, there's usually an obvious build which gives a good idea of what a unit will look like, and if they're off on something i can just make a mental note of what i'd change.

That really sucks. Sorry man.

Soapbox time: this is why I advise never to spend money on gachas. You end up with two scenarios:

1. You sink money in and get nothing.
2. You sink money in and get something, which incentivizes you to spend more money

Even if you're not a whale, the amount of nickel-and-dime that gacha spending will do to you over time adds up fast. If you're going to spend money, the way Lopen did it is the best way - spend a certain amount to support it ($40 being the price of a full game is fair) and then go cold turkey. That's still enough to suck some people in though. Once you've started, the temptation will likely stay.

Kind of feel the need to soapbox about this for a minute because I've seen this sort of spending hit people really hard before they even know what happened. Would rather not see it happen to anyone in this topic!

Between this time and last, I've spent about 400 orbs trying to get Ayra. I figured... Hey, I don't have Ike or Celica, either, so this time wouldn't be bad if I got any red.

Turns out I just didn't get any 5*, period, either time. >_>

Wanted just Bow Lyn, so I didn't touch the 8% banner, but I finally got her after just over 100 orbs on the tempest banner.

Click on the appearance rate button on the banner, it gets updated as you pull more without getting a 5*.

Oh, they added Rhajat. Are any of the current banners with summoning on? I heard about the 2.0 update and some other stuff so I figured I would redownload the game just to summon with what I had if there is something good to summon on.

Legendary hero banner has the best overall 5* odds at 8% focus and no non-focus.

You can't go wrong with the other banner though if you don't like that one. Tempest trial banner has the four CYL characters who are all very good. Dorcas/Mia/Lute are pretty good and still on banner today. Sonya/Nephenee too if you like them.

i feel like once the right build for her is found she might be really good. the ice wall special is need, but it actually kinda doesn't add all that damage. drive attack utility is nice, and she's beefy, so something like QR and a close def/distant def. (which makes me question what to do with my 4* joshua cuz he has 2 neat skill trees that i could make use of with windsweep

personally leaning towards giving her distant counter at least. shes absurdly tanky for an infantry unit as it is i think.

Hell yeah looks like I'm finally going to 19. Have 4853 points and am rank 2000 or so so I'm feeling safe. God mode Serra being able to be used made it not too tough. Shame she's not usable as a bonus unit next week.

Also Refined Rogue Dagger+ enhanced is kinda absurd with the blade tomes. Team of Serra/Matthew/Tharja/Valter kinda wrecked cause yeah if some reason Matthew + Serra can't whittle down Tharja can just shotgun hard with +6 to both defense stats on the blade tome.

Random note I met my soulmate in arena while doing this (using a different teamcomp before I realized how amazing rogue dagger blade tome was):



The enemy Matthew was +8 and Serra was +1 to complement my +1 Matthew and +8 Serra. And as you can see they also wasted a Close Counter on their Matthew. I think my build is a lot better as I don't think Matthew excels with the Poison Dagger+ but yeah. It was awesome. I sent them a friend request I hope they accept it.

Plus the actual neat thing is that I have 3 Water blessing things, which is a perma +5 hp and +3 speed to both fjorm and the recipient which is actualyl fairly good since her speed is lacking ( i think +3 puts her more into the range to consistently double, but unsure) and more bulk for a tank is always good

Why do you even like Matthew that much

Like he was cool and I liked him being a sneaky SOB but he aint no Legault, that's for sure (j/k Matthew >>legault stats be damned)

I dunno maybe it's just a FE7 thing for me whereas hardcore fans of the "newer' games (lol path of radiance is newer......barely) super hate elincia's artwork since she got super moefied.

Matthew has the best support quality overall in the game. They're reliably funny or they're actually interesting cause they're with Black Fang dudes and he has STORY with them. Also has by far my favorite support chain with Serra (sorry Erk) and generally turns out to be a powerhouse when I play FE7.

There's not really all that much more to it. And his art is completely fine btw Matthew always looked kinda anime

I do like Legault too though.

Everyone has their random FE characters they like a lot. Donnel is one of my favorites in the series because he's a simple farmer with a pot on his head who grows into an absolute monster if you train him right. Dorcas is one of my favorites too because he was my first axe user, had a simple yet sympathetic motivation, and he clutched my team through some bad situations when I first played FE7.

Dorcas was always one of my least favorites because he'd always die.

At long last +10. Just in time for the healer buff. I still need to enhance Absorb+ but it's lower priority cause I have Wrathful Staff so yeah not a big deal. Really wish there was a third enhancement for people that have it-- I mean no counter attacks is nice but if you're using Absorb+ it's not a huge deal to get hit back. I'd rather have some generic stat buffs.

What is the best budget build for Fjorm? I'm willing to give her Fury, but not going to sac Josh for Close Def since we only have one spare.

Repeat 15+ times. Poor Serra. Now she'll be expected to, like, fight and kills things. I'm pretty sure if I saw that in Arena that it would kill one of my units due to me not paying attention (40 Speed, huh).

Have you considered Fury 3? If you're running Absorb then it will more or less negate the HP loss.

Honestly Fjorm's base kit seems pretty good. You just have to take her for what she is - a baiter of ranged enemies, not a frontline warrior or a nuke.

IS won't let me have it though (Healers can't use Fury 3-- maybe someday!)

Ideally I want one of the two stat things while next to a buddy since she and Matthew are pretty much always back to back but for now stat+3 is unfortunately the best option in that slot.

But yeah she's pretty hard to kill. She can actually kill Reinhardt +10s most of the time-- I did get surprised once by a quickened pulse Moonbow one but yeah she's probably gonna be permanently in my Arena team for now because not having to sweat that guy is nice.

I may actually give her close counter I have a spare Takumi and Absorb+ with 49 attack makes her strangely tanky even against physical as long as they're not hitting her with brave weapons <_<

Didn't know that Fury 3 couldn't be put on healers. That's so arbitrary. I'm glad Healers are way more viable now but I don't get why they've been so restricted from the start.

Once you get a unit to +10, with Summoner Support, and stack them with buffs, they can start to tank a lot of things they shouldn't. I actually use my Felicia to tank Brave Bow units because her stats are so artifically inflated. Close Counter on that Serra wouldn't be a bad idea. I think I'd go with the Speed +3 seal if you go that route though, that 40 speed is nice and you probably want to keep it.

Plus, what else are you going to use the Close Counter on? I don't think you have anymore fanboy units to train up, at least none that I know of.

Yeah. 37 Speed is definitely too low. That nature is +ATK -DEF btw so yeah she can get up to 46 SPD if you really want to go in on it. I think that's a little excessive though-- having as much attack as possible with Absorb is nice since Awakening will tell you all you need to know about Nosferatu being OP. 40 seemed the best configuration-- doubles a lot and almost impossible to double.

I think I'm going to hold on the Close Counter till we see more of those +5 to two stat things while near a friend like Fjorm has (healers can use these at least, though Fjorm herself has an undesirable combo) because she's really powerful as is and I usually have Matthew in front anyway. But it's something I'll consider if we don't get one that hits two of ATK/SPD/RES. Ideally the +5 ATK +5 SPD would be a thing but I doubt that ever sees the light of day cause Life and Death people would be LIVID.

Matthew, Serra, Sigurd, Deirdre. Good taste. I love teams that buck conventional wisdom like that. That one team that has all the Yamada Akihiro-drawn characters with the 53 Res Jagen is another great team.
