Christmas Tharja doesn't excite me as much as it could. Probably in large part to normal Tharja being pretty strong as is.

Unless she's a blue mage, I guess. Still need some good blue mages.

Christmas Tharja might excite me. I like her and don't really have glaring needs to fill. I'll probably have over 400 orbs by then so may go for it.

We have plenty of good blue mages already. We STILL lack a good amount of red mages. Tharja, Nowi, and Celica are all we have. Im really hoping Micaiah will be made a red mage. Sucks IS did away with light magic.

Katarina is basically Tharja that trades a lot of physical bulk for magical bulk, but she's a 5* and hardly been on a banner. But yeah, blue and green mages have had better offensive stat spreads thus far.

I assume he meant flying red mage Nowi. She hits like a truck with flying buffs and blade tome.

Linde's the one that's been absent from banners. she was on two but they were literally consecutive, lasting a total of two weeks, so she may as well have only been on one. and it was 7 months ago now.

also it overlapped with the godly first hero fest, so pretty much nobody had the orbs to spare for her

If you assume the Christmas banner will only feature Awakening characters, then the top 4 characters that don't have any seasonal variant and are from Awakening are:

Tharja
Robin(M)
Donnel
Lon'qu

they always do both Awakening and Fates for these things. the only time they didn't, they still did, just in two separate banners (swimsuits). so i would expect Fates characters to round this out.

Like i dunno basically i could try for discount Brave Roy with a neat C skill, or hold my orbs to be (probably) disappointed by the seasonal banner. Last interesting banner I liked was like, Nohrian summer I guess and I didn't get swat from it. Halloween was okay but the only one I liked was Sakura but didn't get her.

Tharja is alright, Robin in general is whatever. The Fates characters I actually like probably wouldn't get an xmas variant anyway (like selena)

Lyn and Caeda, but my point was that every theme has had both Awakening and Fates, and brides still had both with Cordelia and Charlotte. so at most there's 1 spot open for some other game, though i kinda doubt it.

I like all the bad guys in this book more than generic Ice Lancer girl. I wonder if those will be the heroes on later banners or if there'll be more original characters, or hero versions of existing characters or what.

We still don't have the ability to use Bruno or Veronica either. Not that I'd have any interest in those two really but yeah have there been any hints. I kinda wanna use the blessing mechanic but I don't really want to field Fjorm on the regular.

Fjorm has been doing pretty well for me. Granted, it helps most of the maps she fights on have defense tiles, but Atk/Def bond, QR, and Iceberg have allowed her to tank redd and take on other greens. With blessing BRoy, i am seeing 700 scores more often, but until i start merging my core, it still wont be enough to stay in tier 20.

My arena team this week had ten total merges and still not nearly enough to stay in tier 20. It'll be a while yet before that's a reality for me.

I'm not really keen on Bruno or Veronica either. I hope we get somebody new on the as the next legendary hero. I'd like one of the new villains, but it is probably too soon for that.

If +10 is still not enough to stay in tier 20, then it will be a veeeery long time before i can hope to stay there since I dont have 10 of any of the units i want to use for my core. The threshold keeps getting pushed up, with the introduction of SS forges, weapon refineries, and blessings.

You might be able to with higher BST or skills. It seems like it'll be just enough to squeak into top 5k arena assault for the last two weeks at least.

i calculated and it seemed as though it would be possible to stay in tier 20 this week with Corrin+9, Fjorm, BK, Hector. though it would have required some manipulation to get in the upper half of the random range per match. too much of a hassle for me, and i'm still not sure i want to go that route yet.

Final voting gauntlet haul was 10,400 feathers. I got greedy with the bonuses in round two and suffered there.

I still haven't learned to play the flags game well. I've only started to use the tracker during this final and have learned it's not a good idea to save 1405 flags for the second day >_>

i just missed top 10k in Sigurd's army last round. could have been 11400 if i had gotten that and the victory.

First time I picked the winner the whole time through. Glad Tharja won. The theme for the gauntlet was designed around her so she deserves to win it.

Worst for feathers, though. Got top 10k, top 10k, top 30k, and then a mere top 70k on total. Going 3-0 on wins was nice but still didn't make up for the low ranks.

I kinda have an Oboro build in my head that I think would be awesome that could use it
I like Selena better and have a build in my head for her that would be... well, okay, but not great in this meta, that could use it.

But I also kinda want to see a Severa unit at some point

I could also just +1 Matthew or Tharja some more.

If you like Severa more, I'd hold it for that. It's only a matter of time for her to be released and who knows if you'll get more DC fodder.

How many feathers do you have? You've already committed to Matthew and Tharja so that's probably what I'd do.

Finally managed to roll some more Donnels. Got one that was +Atk -Def. I use Donnel with Brave Lance/Death Blow so that's technically a better version than my current Neutral IV one, but I'm still kind of hesitant to make it the new base for merges. Donnel has pretty good base defense and I like using him to tank in a pinch. Might hold out a bit longer while I collect feathers and see if I can roll a -Spd or -Res version.

Also as far as Arena goes, building up a strong core team is the best way to get feathers in the long term. So I would focus on boosting whoever you already use. Do you ever take Matthew out of your team Lopen? If not then I would boost him up.

I think I've taken him out before, but he is Serra's devoted S-Rank Vassal so it's not often. Matthew + Tharja would probably be a better S-Rank combo of pairs I use cause blade tomes with Rogue Dagger are so cool, but shippers gotta ship.

I guess I may as well just start grinding him till 10 for now. He's already at +1!

Okay, I want to share my monstrosity with you all. I just finished getting him to +10.

At some point in the future I want to give him a Slaying Edge+ and switch his special to Bonfire (and maybe Quick Riposte 3 for completionist's sake), but right now I'm content. He just helped carry me through a deathless run in Tier 20 arena on the first try, so I'm pretty happy with that.

Thanks! I just really like Laslow a lot. I've used him in every playthrough I've done in both Awakening and Fates.

I've definitely considered it, but I think I prefer the flat +3 defense because it allows him to completely tank B. Lyn, even without Ephraim's buff. I love hearing that double 'tink' sound as Laslow totally no sells one the best units in the game.

Actually, while we're talking about it, how does skill inheritance work with refined weapons? I would have to upgrade Lon'qu's Killing Edge into a Slaying Edge, and then put the +Def blessing on it before I had Laslow inherit it, right?

no. you have to inherit the killing edge first. at some point i think they were going to allow you to inherit the slaying edge but even then not the blessing.

Yeah, just give Laslow Lon'qu's Killing Edge and then he can upgrade it as needed.

I gave Laslow a BS and made him an inferior Hana closer to when AA was introduced because i was making every attempt to increase my stash of usable units and barely ended up using him. I have enough 5* units now to get through AA without too many hiccups. I do have enough to make a +10 Laslow, but alas.

I got 4962 (deathless) this Arena run on the first try but I'm only 3000 rank or so, with the drop out rank being 4800. Well I doubt I am likely to do much better so I'll just hope that rank will hold somewhat steady. Rank 20 is fierce man.

The Tana/Amelia GHB on Infernal was hard as balls. Took me an embarrassing number of tries to get it down. If I hadn't recently made a 5*+4 Sheena then I wouldn't have been able to do it at all. Needed her to tank the endless waves of bullcrap.

Also would have finished it way earlier if they didn't stick Red Tomebreaker on one random armor knight. They knew what they were doing there.

I got a deathless arena run but my end score is 20-30 points lower than it was last time I did so, with no team changes whatsoever. Random variation, huh.

Tana/Amelia was the easiest one so far for me. flier emblem is my best team and they made it trivial. it got to the point where i could just farm SP for Elincia since i got her much more recently than the others. even killed a lance armor with her.

and go figure, my arena run this week is the highest i've ever gotten by at least 20 points. mostly because Fjorm is the highest scoring bonus unit i've ever had and i didn't try to score well last season (just picked intermediate) since i was going down to tier 19 either way.

looks like Lissa and Chrom. so either they scrapped Tharja/Robin or this will be Awakening-only. last time they Awakening-only, there was a Fates-only banner as well for the same season, and if there was anything other than summer that'd get two banners devoted to it, it's Christmas. but that time it was still summer even when the second summer banner ended, while they waited way too long for the first Christmas banner if they were gonna have two. hmm...

A flier team makes the BHB a lot easier. Beat infernal on the first try with that. It probably would have been difficult if I just had infantry units.

I'm doubtful there will be a second Christmas banner. Really not looking forward to Chrom and Lissa. Might be an easy banner to skip if Tharja is out.

i guess actually this one could be Christmas and then we could have more of a general winter theme for Fates. or maybe New Years but even that's pushing it unless they have nothing in between.
