Chrom is pretty good right now, although he requires some investment.

The biggest issue with Chrom is that his art sucks. That's the real way characters can be underpowered in FEH.

Chrom's art in general has never been very buff-- I do feel his neutral art could use a bit better muscle definition but the guy was never very large in any of his Awakening art.

New units! That's a lot of really really good abilities locked behind seasonal guys. So nothing new, really.

I've been training up a +Spd Lon'qu for Arena use. I really only picked him for easy merges (for extra points) and because I like the dude, but from his test runs in Arena, he's way better than I gave him credit for. Turns out being able to outspeed pretty much everything helps a lot! Slaying Edge+ combined with Luna is a pretty awesome combo too.

Only issue is that I don't have a better B skill to give him than his default Vantage, which really doesn't help him much in the grand scheme of things. I wish I had an extra Nephenee to give him Wrath.

I wonder if this means a second fates themed Christmas now. I'd wager these new fighter skills are locked to armor units only. If they're not, I expect we will start seeing them everywhere in the arena.

Tharja is the only one to interest me. I'll probably save most orbs for the one year anniversary since it isn't so far away now.

this banner ends exactly on January 1st, so only a couple weeks unlike the past few seasonal banners. definitely gotta expect a Hoshido new year banner at this point.

Tharja's probably the only one i'd actually want outside of SI, but man that Lissa B skill and Robin A skill are insane. the B skills are surely armor only but the A skills might be inheritable on anyone.

These units and skills are insanely good. Even outside of the new skills (wtf is Brazen Atk/Spd and Vengeful Fighter), the other skills are great too. Tharja literally has Close Counter, Vengeful Fighter, and Red Tome Valor.

yeah the armor thing makes no sense at all. like, Henry and Jakob, kinda sorta did. these were all obviously planned to be infantry if the game had come out early enough for this banner to be a year ago, and rather than some minor tweaks they decided to go completely nuts.

I was wondering why some people are getting all uppity about Tharja's outfit when she was part of leaks awhile back when the game launched, but it turns out that her fully body was never shown until now.

Well Tharja's stat lines are neutered since she's ranged. The other three are more along the lines of inflated stat lines in comparison to armored sword/lance/axe users. Not to say that Tharja is bad, but she's more of the same of units from Halloween basically. She does have armor march and close counter which are super rare fodder, so pulling for her has their merits. I'm sure I might be forgetting that she got a B skill as well.

But for me I want Mr. Dad Chrom or no fucks given Robin

Tharja's stat line is lower by the amount ranged units are always lower by (~10 points), and ranged units are generally considered better despite this. Her stat line is fine for an armour; she dumps speed but that's very workable.

Well Alm was +Spd/-Atk and I didn't really want him, and I already had Julia, so maybe it's not really okay

I actually do like Julia. This one is -HP/+RES, the other one was -ATK/+HP. I guess this one is kinda better but I'm not a huge fan of either. I will +1 her though.

All their weapons are refinable, because they needed 14 Might weapons with up to 9 more free base stat points attatched, on top of 8 more stats when they get initiated upon, on top of them being the highest BST units in the game and having crazy good skills,

Minerva arena bonus works for me. Last two arena seasons have each had two old characters with refinable legendary weapons. Next up, I bet we get regular Lyn.
