Do chainers lose value in the TDH meta? Given he results of my standard mog event pulls, I don't see myself ever getting Elfreeda or Cloud. Am I screwed?

Nope. Orlandeau is still going strong as is with God plan.

But your Tidus 7* will like you about as much as giving him a 2 handed weapon today. (IE not much since TDH hits harder than DW for some of the 7*s than others.)

So, evil eye if you aimed for him over DV 7*. If Fry 7*, I dunno. They might need a magical flavor it since she does have a foot there already before today.

Right now Im saving for CG Sakura, and dont want to blow all of my resources for TDH TMRs, but if theyre pretty much required I might have to drop more on this banner and watch the trash add up.

Does DV 7* use TDH also?

Only if you want to ride the power wave you see now with A2 and OK and scuff at even considering Orlandeau since he is Lightning apparently more or less.

Properly built the good 7* TDH units outclasses DW units.

Nope, since DV is of the Landeau family he doesn't. Still DW with further increase on dark impact. The only odd new ones for him are his 16-hitter he gets, the super buff and some mods to old moves.

However you can calm yourself.
Unless you plan to be away from the game you can get a free Cloud by burning the 5* pieces we will eventually have to collect. ("Unit of Choice" or UoC if that sounds familiar. Anyone in that pool. )

But you have to get your own Elfies yourself if you plan to take full advantage of TDH since they are flat damage. Or plan around with Desch since some units like Cloud needs only one Marshal Glove eventually due to stat restrictions.

Personally unless you plan on a Fixed Dice Fire Veritas or Self destruction 2B, or lv 25 LB Cloud I would save until later.

William is sturdy dirtotto.

You need 2+.

DF is moth bag material until her juicy 7*.

The rest are TMRs. (Well, Aria works for lb shenanigans if you don't have Tilith/Ayaka on dial up. But then most competent healers works as long as you can work around their limits. Aria's being the AoE Revive and esunaja are unfortunately abilities.)

Edit: Rubicante can work as an impromptu elemental wall with iNichol.

My Cloud is only at like 625 right now, but he's not maxed out and that's with mostly gimped equipment because I don't want to cannibalize A2/2B while I'm still planning on running the raid.

I know it's a Mog Event, but I feel like I'm going to be passing a lot on this one. I know TDH is a thing, but it just doesn't interest me as much. I tend to like seeing high combo counts over high damage, even if it won't be as efficient.

Almost bought more lapis too, but thankfully stopped myself. I dont need more Williams and Conrads, and RNG isnt going to let me in on the TDH meta. Up to around 200 pulls so far! Should have listened to myself earlier and just said fuck TDH!

But I said you don't have to sweat it in your case.

Once we get UoC pieces you can trade them in for a Cloud if you don't get him otherwise.

Elfie and Cloud are the last pieces for Olive's 300% ATK on top of lb stones per turn. She doesn't hit as hard these days(LV 25 lb still hurts if chained.) but her enhancements are getting closer.

Ace: Enhance everything. You can save his Devotion for later if you are low on resources.

Now Ace can be used for a few things once enhanced.

1: Great on demand instant mana battery instead of end of turn. Even with crappy luck you will still sate pretty much anyone not named GL Sakura these days.

2. If you use attacks involving fire/holy/thunder, then oh boy.... How do you like an on demand 75% imperil for all 3 for 3 turns with the press of a button? (Plus he might hit pretty hard if luck is with you to boot.)

3. LB finisher. 200% hightide, with 2 stones per turn. And 40% does have its moments even if you don't see them often.

Zargabaath in my opinon works better as support. He hit so low on the offensive side if you remember mine from the FF12 event even with good gear.

So, deck him out with a fire weapon, pump up his HP/SPR/DEF/MP as you see fit. Since I am not sure if you got another 5%+ mp refresh in some form, you might want to bring Ace with him. (Or have him rejuvenate himself every once in a while.)

Gameplan is to drop down Archadian Light(Do always check what it covers, I forget) for stats and immunties.

Bastion if you need elemental resistance.

Word of Law if you need a 20% mitigation. Or Righteous Sword for dispel. Hero Crest if you need one unit to get 100% all stats.

The most important thing is to manage his MP just like Tilith.

Can't comment much on Ace, but he's basically mana battery and Tri-beam Laser spam. Great if you need to imperil fire for, say Flame Veritas.

Zargabaath is pretty much the support unit you throw in when you need more than one thing in a single unit. He provides elemental resistance that while not as powerful as Marie's, are still good enough. He has a 20% damage mitigation for the party that will stack with Pod 153's physical mitigation (side note: he's a great Pod user in my experience). He can do partywide 60% buffs that also provide status immunities for paralysis, blind, confuse, and disease, three of those being very handy immunities to have. There's a 100% All Stat ST buff on a 4 turn counter, meaning you can easily apply it to a couple party members and still have room to do other things. And lastly, he provides a 100% HP heal and 50% MP heal for a single target, which works amazingly with any mana-hungry unit with high MP, or as a budget healer. And all of this is wrapped into a single unit. Bring him, and he should always have something to do.

He can't work as well as a bard like Roy, and his damage mitigation isn't as strong as Rikku's. But the sheer versatility of his kit makes him exceedingly good to slot in as a general support unit if you don't desperately need a specific one, and he's been able to get my party through more than a few of the difficult trials.

Anyone else remember when GL was convinced this guy was going to suck when they first saw his kit? People were so wowed by Rikku and Ramza Enhancements (lol) that any other support unit just seemed so bad in comparison.

So, I get that Zargle is jack of all trades support...but as a person who has Tillith, Marie, 9s, and Rikku, where would I use him?

I guess Role compression is a really good thing, however, so he might be on my main team unless I need to slot in my specialized people.

Also, for MP battery purposes... Ace and Zarg or Tillith and Zarg?

...now if only I could get a landu or his expy(besides the great ice waifu), I'd be pretty much set for the next few banners.

As long as the dps output matches or beats the devour turns.

You can slot him together with Tilith, unless you do something like Marie/Zargabaath/Ace. It really depends on how much you need to heal.

That's pretty much it. A lot of times I struggle to bring specialized support units because they don't cover a role I need, or their kit covers one thing I need but their other main role is pretty useless. Or I just can't afford to bring a specialized unit either because they're too frail, or I need the flexibility and they can't provide. Soleil is a great example; she's my best stat buffer, but that's literally all she can do.

Zarg slots in so easily because while he does nothing perfectly, he does everything just well enough that it makes bringing him worth it. And if you do bring a second support unit, it frees Zarg up to do even more things, which is why I usually slap a Pod on him. 20% all damage mitigation plus a 40% physical shield? Hell yes.

And given that I don't have any battery other than Zarg+Tilith, I will at least attest that it is a great mana battery to use. Tilith can't heal herself with Prism Heal, but that gets handled by Zarg while she's constantly refreshing the party. Unless you have a super mana hungry unit, you'll be covered for a huge chunk of the fight. In fact, they're what I use for events where I can click repeat, and my best units are super MP hungry. 2x GLS spamming a single cast of Grim -Soul Barrage, Zarg and Tilith healing/refreshing, and Xon for the drop rates is how I spent the last two weeks farming the story event.

you forgot a few more pros for Zarg:

1) his bulk. it is stupidly easy to have him with 6k HP without even trying. the bonuses he gets with certain weapons and certain elements is hard to maximize but you don't want to do that all the time; instead if you're focused on support, just get him a holy weapon and enjoy. a support unit who easily hits 6k HP, 3k DEF, and 200 SPR is pretty rare.

2) on top of all that he has an auto-survive skill that keeps him alive, guaranteed, if he had over 10% of HP.

3) on top of that he has 20% evasion, for both physical and magic.

the guy is a support unit who just doesn't die. countless times i've depended on him out there.
