Would you preferred to be buried or cremated after Death?

Now if you understand why someone suddenly dies, there's a gofundme page to help with funeral expenses because the family obviously wants a burial..and a burial can cost an arm and a leg that can go from 5000-15,000!!

However, a cremation costs 1/4 of that from as low as 500-1500..

So as you can see, your death can be costly to the next of kin and even in the afterlife when you thought your money troubles are over...well yours is but not your families :o...

So do you want to be buried or will you settle for a cheap cremation? let's see what people will vote

Burial can be cheaper than that and, tbh, whether you bury or cremate, you're going to incur many of the same costs between transport, funeral expenses, etc.

The costs would come from your estate regardless, pretty sure. However, if somebody agrees to be the executor of your will, part of that is handling the remains.

If its up to me, cremation. Cemeteries are a waste of space.

My wife has mentioned a desire for us to be buried together, though. If I die before her, which is likely, I wont have much say in the matter lol

'Buried'

What ticks me off the most is that embalming is not negotiable in some states and they will still have to pick at my corpse and sew things shut even if I would pay not to be viewed.

I'm getting an immediate burial when I die to save money. No embalming, no traditional funeral. They literally take your body from the place of death to a cemetery and bury you. I'm an organ donor anyways so hopefully a good portion of me can be harvested to help others.

Cremation might be a cheaper but I like the idea of my body getting eaten by bugs and whatnot so the energy gets redistributed to other living things as opposed to being incinerated. I don't like the idea of being embalmed either. I'd rather let nature take its course.

As for a funeral my family can just have a private memorial at home if they want. Fuck everything about the funeral industry I say.

No, dying's free. It's being dead that's expensive. Plus no nation pays for funerals and, with the exception of the poor, most don't pay for a lot of the expenses associated with disposing of the body. Granted, a lot of the US will let you bury on your own land and, of course, you can always donate your body to science at which point you incur no other expenses.

2 ft is nowhere near deep enough for a body. The US technically allows home burials as well, although it's not common because some areas have zoning regulations.

I don't think your average bonefire gets hot enough to actually cremate a body

The cremation process is so hot that there technically aren't even ashes left over from the body. What people get in an urn are the ground up bone fragments of their loved one. Everything else burns up completely and goes out the exhaust.

A bonfire would just leave a charred corpse. It's great if you want barbecued human, but not so great for actually removing a body.

I prefer being buried in a grave in the cemetary. Everyone in my family that has died has been buried in a cemetary. I am surprised the majority said cremated. Seems weird to burn the body and keep the ashes. Also I am pretty sure cremation is just as expensive as burying someone.

You can get a cremation for around $600, less if you don't want an urn.

A burial will cost you $3-5000 for the plot and casket alone, not taking into account fees for preparing and transporting the body. If you want a funeral service it can cost several times that. If you want a headstone tack on another one or two thousand.

though my mom didn't like me pitching the idea of donating my body to the military to test explosives on. forgot where I heard about that, but as soon as I did it, I said something about doing that, and she quickly said "no" lol

it should. my grandmothers paid her's off entirely and gave her stepsons, my brother and I 10k a piece. for last 20 years or so of her life she only worked minimum wage, but she was damn good with money.think when she died she had 30k+ sitting in the bank

I'd be buried, I think the costs would come down to transport, embalming and casket. Basically they take me to the reserve, rando relatives dig my grave, we have a wake and funeral in the community hall, and I think that's it, someone will stick a cross and like a little thing on it.

That's what I am doing. I don't want the burden of paying for the expenses to fall on to my sister or any potential children I have. The thing about dying is you know it is going to happen at some point in your life.

People believing life insurance to be scams is fine but at least have some plan setup so as to not be a burden on your family or friends. Even if you don't care what is done to your body afterwards, your family and friends still have to deal with it in some matter according to the law I think.

Personally for me I would like my ashes, if it is legally allowed, to be scattered at the peak of some nearby mountain ranges. I have hiked there plenty of times and if there's any place for my remains to be"buried" I'll like it up there.

Another thing is, I don't exactly want my remains to be at a cemetery decades later when said cemetery might be run down, filled to the brim, etc, etc. One of Los Angeles oldest cemetery has been around since the late 1800's I think and the place isn't exactly pretty with the grass dead or yellow, tomestones worn down from the elements, etc. etc. Some folks are still buried there such as my neighbor who was buried there recently at his family's grave.

The thing that most people don't understand is that whatever the pay out is to your beneficiary is tax free and creditors can't come after it unless you have joint credit accounts.

If your life insurance is a 25k policy, whether you've paid it for 5 years or 25 years, that's your beneficiary's money. Even if they only spent 5k on your funeral, the other 20k is there to spend as needed.

Look even if your 24 with a good job, go buy life insurance for yourself and name a relative the beneficiary. The beneficiary can be changed anytime. The younger you start the cheaper it is and the options you unlocked as you age and maybe start a family are beneficial. Buy it for your kids, if you already have some. It's super affordable and if they make it to adulthood make sure they know to keep it going.

Yes I do. Death is very expensive and if not planned for can create problems for the loved ones that are left behind.

That's why in my family we have already bought plots of land in which we are to be buried after death.

EDIT: We also set up life insurance coverages for everyone. We are all paying for it regularly and our basic wills are already notarised.

It's free if you don't collect the ashes. My brother died like 4 years ago now, and I had the option of paying to collect his ashes (which I didn't take). I did pay to have my Wife cremated and have her ashes on my mantel though.

Now if you have an estate or something it would probably come out of that, but most people don't have one, so yeah, unless you actually have family that wants your ashes for some reason, it would not be a burden on them, and if you do have resources left when you croak it will just come out of that...so....still not a burden (in fact you are probably leaving them money/items etc).
