Bill did a fine job! The scene wasn't perfect though -- the prop-bag he gave mewas tied too tight and I couldn't quite open it in time. PROP MISTRESSSSSSSSSSSSS (or did he set me up???)

Brian and I were kinda odd tonight. He couldn't find his pacing even before I came up, and I couldn't get two of my lines precisely word for word -- close and synonymous, but not quite there (like "No my good lord, I met him back again" VS "No my good lord, I saw him back"). I'll take responsibility.

My head is too big and they have not added elastic bands like they said before, so my helmet keeps flying off before my fight-scene even begins. It fell off twice today -- once I could catch, but once rolled away from me and under my opponent which hurt his chest. He's tough, but he doesn't deserve that and we HAVE to keep this safer for fighters or this is going to cause real problems.

They insist on using helmets though, so...gonna see if I can't menacingly set mine down to the side or something.

I did a show earlier this year where I was off-book the first day...similar-sized role. I was gonna do it for this show too, but we had some cast-changes through-out and I got tired of learning characters I wasn't gonna play afterall so I waited awhile this time.

Two weeks is traditional, but it is ideal to just go ahead and learn those lines ASAP (unless you have an excuse like I just made for this show).

People think directors are being heinous about lines but really the scene opens up so much more when you can focus on things other than that fucking piece of paper in your hand.

Some notes, possibly the last I can offer (directors often stop giving notes after the show opens). In general:

I'm pretty sure that was the biggest playgasm I've ever had.

For Bill and me:

Bill--loosen up and be more intense on your speech with Harr. Louder.
-- heatbout with purse. You finished strong.

Harr--you ROCK.

For Brian and me:

Harr -- a tad quicker on entrance. Albany--don't anticipate his entrance.

You and Harr need to run your lines a few times to speed it up.

--Harr--take out ALL pauses in your statement. Especially after "but...."

And I end with a good one:

Harr--very nice.

Yeah, I dunno. My problem was with opening the bag in time because it was tied too tight and I tried to open it by pulling it apart from its inside instead of pulling the string. It's probably something like "help out" or "get out."

Maybe you haven't noticed yet, but the director's spelling is probably not auto-corrected.

The director is a theater person, that kind of dramatic flair is kind of to be expected.

It's crazy that people have such a hard time memorizing lines.
