The original is probably my #3 FF game so the chance to play an improved version is so exciting

I want to do this, but also take into account their appearances in Record Keeper, Tactics, etc. Also without repeating jobs.

Will get it sometime. Waffling on whether to do a solo Vaan run or use a full party I've done several solo runs and they're very fun but the new job system would make using a full party more interesting.

I played the international version last year and absolutely loved it. It's probably too soon for me to play through it again but the new dual job stuff and the fact that they fixed the spell queuing is pretty tempting.

For the record I went with

Vaan - Monk
Balthier - Uhlan
Fran - Black Mage
Basch - Knight
Ashe - Red Mage
Penelo - White Mage

I'm so excited to play this, but I've got a backlog to get through and I'm going on vacation at the end of the month and don't want to rush through it so I probably won't pick it up for a couple of months.

What else has changed other than the Job system?

My favourite playthrough of the original was when I farmed Dustia very early on and became overpowered for the rest of the game. I remember running through all the maps to get the Zodiac Spear very early into the game. Hopefully that's all still possible.

You can steal Zodiac Spear in trial mode and bring it into the main game

if it's like IZJS that would be even more difficult than the other methods. a rare steal on the 62nd floor means you'd have to repeat those first 61 floors an average of like, 15 times.

That's unfortunate. It was always fun attempting to run through late game areas so early in the game. It kind of breaks the game when you do it but I've always enjoyed being extremely over leveled and powerful in games.

That's unfortunate. It was always fun attempting to run through late game areas so early in the game. It kind of breaks the game when you do it but I've always enjoyed being extremely over leveled and powerful in games.

i mean you can still do that. there's just literally 1 item you can't get as easily anymore (like icon said, you still can get it early through trials, and more than 1 if you wanted). i went into the late-game areas early in both PS2 versions and it's arguably even more fun in IZJS, having to work a bit harder and having more different weapons to hunt for (and this version would have even more).

Basch has the worst damage per hit late-game due to having the lowest vit, but early-game he will have more str than others, which is weighted higher in the damage formula. he also has the fastest combo speed for axes and hammers so he may well be a higher dps in the late-game still.
