A lot of people seem to be chalking it up as another "sadness porn" show, but that's selling it short. I wouldn't really say it gets better over time though. If anything I preferred the earlier eps. That and the interactions are pretty damn unique for anime, other than the first bit. Easily what stood out the most. Thought this was gonna be some sorta episodic slice of life thing with the same sort of atmosphere as that cafe from Flying Witch, or maybe Bartender or something, but I'm not really sure what I got. The first half of the ep was pretty lame and slow with weak atmosphere. It got better with the girl, but I dunno where it's even going. It's tagged as a mystery series on MAL so I guess it'll be more plot-based? Obviously, once they got into original content, it kinda dragged, but the final arc was pretty damn great. Ending sucked, but I'm assuming the movie ties up the loose ends? Probably gonna have to check it out. Overall, solid. My initial plan when I started was that, since I'd just finished the manga, I'd watch the original anime, then Brotherhood, mainly because I heard the unique content was good and I didn't want to jump straight into Brotherhood after already reading the manga. But at this point I barely remember the story, so I think I'm good to jump into Brotherhood whenever I damn well please.
